After transporting the device, wait until it has reached ambient temperature before switching it on.42 4.5. Power supply Only operate the protection class II device on a 230 V~, 50 Hz earthed power socket that is close by and easy to access or by inserting 6 x 1.5 V, UM-1 D R20 batteries into the battery com- partment. Keep the device at a distance of at least one metre from sources of high-frequency or magnetic interference (televi- sions, speakers, mobile telephones etc.) to avoid malfunctions and data loss. In an emergency, for example, if you see smoke coming out of the device, or if it makes unusual noises, unplug it from the main power supply or remove its batteries.DE
The plug must always be easy to reach in an emergency. For this reason, it is important that the power socket is always easily accessible. If battery acid comes into contact with skin, eyes or mucous membranes, rinse the af- fected areas with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor as soon as possible. WARNING! Risk of chemical burns! If batteries are swallowed, they can cause serious inter- nal chemical burns within two hours which may prove fatal. Seek medical help immediately if you think that bat- teries may have been swallowed or secreted in any part of the body. Stop using the device if the battery compartment does not close properly, and keep the device out of reach of children. Before inserting the batteries, check that the contacts in the device and on the batteries are clean and, if necessary, clean them. Always use new batteries of the same type. Never use old and new batteries together. Pay attention to the polarity (+/–) of the device when insert- ing the batteries. There is a risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrect- ly! Only replace batteries with those of the same or an equiva- lent type. Never try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Risk of ex- plosion!DE
Never expose the batteries to excessive heat (such as direct sunlight, fire or similar). Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Strong direct heat can damage batteries. Do not expose the device to sources of in- tense heat. Never short-circuit batteries. Never throw batteries into a fire. Remove leaking batteries from the device immediately. Clean the contacts before inserting new batteries. Battery acid can cause chemical burns! Always remove flat batteries from the device. Flat batteries tend to leak easily. If the device is not going to be used for long periods, remove the batteries.
DANGER! Risk of choking and suffocation! There is a risk of choking and suffocation due to swal- lowing or inhaling small parts or plastic wrap.
