General Notes Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.

• The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not t for commercial use.

• Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.

• When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.

• Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the device off. Remove the plug from the socket.

• The device and the mains lead have to be checked regular- ly for signs of damage. If damage is found the device must not be used.

• Use only original spare parts.

• In order to ensure your children’s safety, please keep all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene etc.) out of their reach. WARNING! Do not allow small children to play with the foil. There is a danger of suffocation! Special Safety Instructions for this appliance

WARNING: Risk of burns!

During operation and afterwards, the temperature of the accessible surfaces will be very high.

• Always hold the appliance by the handle.

• Always open and close the lid with the handle on the lid.

• Do not exceed the MAX mark when lling, otherwise the water may boil over and cause burns!

• Always ensure that the lid is tightly closed.

• Do not open the lid when the water is boiling.

• The water level must be between the MAX and MIN marks.

• Use the appliance only on a level work surface.

• Do not move the device and do not touch it when it is working.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the safe use of the appliance understand the hazards involved.

• Cleaning and maintenance by the user shall not be made by children unless they are older 8 years and supervised.

• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.

• Children shall not play with the appliance.

• Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.

• Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly quali ed persons in order to avoid a hazard.

• This appliance is used for heating and boiling water. Never use to heat up other uids or foodstuffs.

• Only use the appliance in a dry, indoor area. It is intended for do- mestic use and similar areas of use such as e.g. - in staff kitchens in shops, of ces and other commercial areas; - by guests in hotels, motels and other accommodation facilities. It is not intended for use in farm accommodation or Bed & Break- fast establishments. CAUTION: Do not immerse the device into water for cleaning. Please follow the instructions as stipulated in the chapter “Cleaning”.27 WKR3624_IM_new 10.02.2016 Scope of Delivery 1 x Kettle with lid 2 x Cup 1 x Teaspoon 1 x Transport bag Instructions Electrical connection CAUTION: Check the setting of the voltage selector on the bottom of the appliance before each use! A wrong voltage setting can destroy the appliance or can trip the house fuse. NOTE: In the European countries, the mains voltage is 230 V AC.

• Set the voltage to the mains voltage provided by your electricity supplier: AC 120 V or AC 230 V.

• Connect the appliance to a grounded outlet only after you have lled water into the container. Preparation Before using for the rst time, boil fresh water at least three times in the appliance. Use only water without any additives or ingredients. Use CAUTION: When the pilot lamp lights on connection to the mains, the appliance is operating. Accordingly, observe the order of the operation steps. NOTE: Always use fresh water.

NOTE: Is the pilot lamp off? Switch on the device with the button ON. Pausing / terminating operation There are two options to interrupt the boiling process or to terminate it:

• The appliance will shut off automatically after the boiling process. The indicator lamp will go out.

• To stop the boiling process, set the switch to O.

WARNING: Danger of scalding!

• When pouring the water out, keep the lid closed.

• During operation the housing becomes hot. Do not touch it and allow the device to cool down before storing it away.

• Hot steam may escape when you open the appliance!

• Set the switch to O. Disconnect the power cord.

• Emptying the water container. Cleaning

• Always turn the device off before cleaning it and remove the mains plug. Wait until the device has cooled down.

• Do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. CAUTION:

• Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.

• Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.

• Rinse the water container out with clean water. Then dry it off with a cloth.

• Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth. Decalcification

• The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on the hardness of the water and on how often the appliance is used.

• If the machine switches off before the water boils, it proba- bly needs to be decalcied.

• Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available decalcication agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use the quantities stated in the instructions. NOTE: After descaling the device boil fresh water in it several times (approximately 3 - 4 times) in order to remove any residues. Do not consume this water.28 WKR3624_IM_new 10.02.2016 Troubleshooting

• It is not possible to switch the machine on. Possible Cause: The appliance has no power supply. Remedy: - Check the socket with another appliance. - Plug in the mains plug correctly. - Check the main circuit breaker. Possible Cause: The appliance is faulty. Remedy: Contact our service center or a specialist. Possible Cause: After being used without or with too little water the machine has not cooled down sufciently. Remedy: Allow the machine to cool down for 10 min.

• The machine switches off before the water has boiled. Possible Cause: The heating base is severely calcied or the electric circuit of the socket is overloaded. Remedy: - Descale the machine as instructed. - Check the mains connection.

• The machine does not switch off. Possible Cause: The lid is not set correctly onto the container. Remedy: Set the lid so onto the water container that the grip on the lid and the grip on the appliance are joined.

• The boiling process takes unusually long. Possible Cause: The voltage selector is not set correctly. Remedy:
