Frequently Asked Questions - GT300 BLACK & DECKER

What is the difference between the HomeCafé coffee maker and a regular coffee maker?
The HomeCafé coffee maker uses high-quality pre-measured coffee pods and an exclusive pressure brewing process, allowing you to brew regular coffee and specialty café-style coffees.
Can I make espresso with the HomeCafé coffee maker?
No, the HomeCafé does not make espresso, but you can use two regular pods on the 7 oz setting to make a strong coffee.
What happens if I press the wrong brew button?
Press STOP during brewing and start over. To avoid overflows, wait for the current cycle to end before starting a new one with an empty cup.
Can I use other coffee brands besides Folgers and Millstone?
No, the coffee maker is designed specifically for HomeCafé pods. Using other brands may clog and damage the appliance.
Can I use ground or instant coffee with the pod holder?
No, the system is designed exclusively for HomeCafé pods. Ground or instant coffee will not yield good results and may clog the appliance.
Can I make tea with the HomeCafé?
Yes, you can brew tea by using a single tea pod in the standard pod holder.
How can I prevent splashing?
Use a tall mug to minimize splashing. Stay away from the appliance during brewing to avoid burns.
How often should I clean the pod holder and splash guard?
Clean them after each use, especially after brewing creamy coffees, to prevent clogs.
Can I reuse a coffee pod?
No, it is not recommended. Extraction is optimal on the first brew. Use a fresh pod for each cup.
How do I descale the coffee maker?
Fill the reservoir with a half-water half-white vinegar mixture to the 14 oz line, place an empty cup under the outlet, and press CLEAN. Then rinse with clean water by repeating the process.
