Follow these instructions when using the kettle for the first time: Carefully remove the kettle from the packaging and remove all packaging material. Keep the packaging (plastic bags and cardboard) out of the reach of children. After unpacking the appliance, check it for external damage that may have occurred during transport. Place the kettle on a heat-resistant flat surface.
The minimum water filling volume is 0.5 litres. The maximum filling volume is 1.7 litres.
Prior to use, the appliance must be filled to the maximum twice and the water must be brought to the boil twice. Throw away the boiled water and rinse the appliance with cold water. The appliance is now ready for use.
The kettle is only suitable for boiling water. Never fill the kettle with milk, tea, coffee or other instant drinks.
4 boiling water
Check that the voltage stated on the information plate matches the voltage used in your region.
Place the connection base on a flat, stable surface. Insert the plug in an earthed wall socket. Place the kettle on the base.
If necessary, excess cord can be stored in the bottom of the connection base by rolling up the cord.
- Open the lid by pressing the button.
- Fill the kettle with the required volume of water and close the lid by pressing it close.
- Place the kettle on the connection base and make sure the plug is in the socket.
- Switch on the kettle by pressing down the on/off switch at position 1. The pilot lamp lights up. The kettle starts to boil the water.
- The kettle switches off automatically when the water boils.
The pilot lamp switches off.
Caution: never switch on the kettle when it contains no water. If, by accident, the kettle is switched on without water in it, the boil dry safeguard switches off the kettle automatically. In this case, remove the kettle from the connection base and allow it to cool down for a few minutes. Then you can fill the kettle with water and switch it on again. Check that the lid of the kettle is properly closed. If not, the kettle does not switch off automatically when the water boils and continues to boil.
8·English
5 switching off the kettle
The kettle switches off automatically when the water boils. The pilot lamp switches off. If you want to boil the water once more, wait approx. 30 seconds before switching it on again to allow the switch to cool down. It is also possible to switch off the kettle at any time by means of the on/off switch. When the kettle is taken off the connection base while boiling, it will also switch off. When placing back the kettle on the connection base, wait approx. 30 seconds before switching it on again to allow the switch to cool down.
Caution! It is possible that a little condensed water remains on the edge of the connection base. This is normal and does not affect the function of the kettle.
6 de-scaling
Scale may occur on the inside of the kettle. If you have hard water, it may be necessary to de-scale the kettle occasionally. Use a suitable de-scaling agent for kettles/coffee machines and observe the accompanying instructions.
You can also de-scale the kettle with lemon juice. The lemon acid in this juice will make sure that the scale is removed. This natural method prevents the use of chemicals. Fill half the kettle with hot water. Add the juice of half a lemon. Boil the water and then allow the water to cool down for 30 minutes. Throw away the boiled water and rinse the kettle once more. Never clean the appliance with cleaning agents. These could damage your kettle.
In order to remove the anti-scale filter from the kettle for cleaning, you must take the kettle from the connection base and allow it to cool down. Do not remove the anti-scale filter from the kettle if it is still hot or filled with water. Pull the anti-scale filter loose towards the rear, away from the spout, and clean it with hot water. When placing back the filter, make sure it is properly attached to the spout. First place the point of the anti-scale filter and then you can press tight the anti-scale filter at the top by means of the clamp. Never place the anti-scale filter loose in the kettle.
7 cleaning & maintenance
Regularly clean the kettle for optimum performance. Never submerge the kettle and connection base in water and/or other liquids. Before cleaning, always remove the plug from the socket and allow the kettle to cool down. Regularly wipe the outside with a moist cloth. Never use detergents or abrasive cleaning agents!
