Klarstein Steam Bro - WARNING - 1

WARNING

Dangers of Injury: Danger of suffocation from plastic flims and bags!

Keep children and animals away from the packaging material.

  • Never attempt to iron clothes while somebody is wearing them.
  • Danger of scalding! Never aim the steam directly at people, animals or plants.
  • Do not turn the hot device upside down or on its side as otherwise hot water can escape.
  • Make sure when doing vertical ironing that there is plenty of space around the item of clothing which is to be ironed. You may only perform vertical ironing if the item of clothing is hanging on a hanger and cannot come into contact with other garments, objects, people or animals.
  • Make sure that the connected mains cable does not present a trip hazard. Do not leave the cable unattended while hanging down from the ironing board, table or other surface if there are children or animals in its vicinity. Otherwise they might use the cable to pull the device down on themselves.

Danger of Electric Shock and Fire

  • The device should only be connected to a properly installed plug socket with safety contacts. The plug socket must also be readily accessible after connection so that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated. The mains voltage must match the technical data of the device. Only use suitable extension cables whose technical data is the same as that of the device.
  • Do not connect the device along with other consumers (with a high wattage) to a multiple socket in order to prevent overloading and a possible short circuit (fi re).
  • Make sure that the mains cable is not squashed, bent or laid over sharp edges and does not come into contact with hot surfaces.
  • Never immerse the device, mains cable or plug in water or other liquids and ensure that they cannot fall into water or become wet.
  • Should the device fall into water, switch off the power supply immediately. Do not attempt to pull the device out of the water while it is still connected to the mains power!
  • The water reservoir may be filled with a maximum of 300ml water to avoid overflowing.
  • Open the water reservoir cap only to fill the water reservoir. Otherwise keep the cap closed while operating the iron.
  • Never touch the device, mains cable or plug with wet hands when these components are connected to the mains power.
  • Never direct the steam directly at mains cables or parts containing electrical components (such as inside ovens, fridges, switches and lights, microwave ovens).
  • Switch the device off and pull the mains plug out of the plug socket, if a fault occurs while the device is in operation or before a thunderstorm.
  • Use the device only in closed rooms.
  • Do not operate the device in a very damp environment or in the vicinity of combustible material.

  • Only iron on a stable, flat, heat-resistant and moisture-resistant surface. We recommend that you use a standard ironing board.

  • During and shortly after use, place the device upright on its base and on a flat, stable, heat-resistant and moisture-resistant surface to prevent damage to the surface which could be caused by the hot bottom section of the iron.
  • Immediately after ironing, place the still hot device down a minimum distance of 15cm away from walls, furniture and other objects.
  • Be aware of damage caused by fire! Never iron on one spot for too long.

Avoiding Damage to Material, Property and the Device

  • Do not iron on surfaces made from glass or plastic.
  • Never cover up the steam nozzles and do not stick any objects into them.
  • Operate the steam switches only when the water reservoir is filled with water as otherwise the water pump may be damaged and the useful service life of the device may be shortened.
  • Do not drop the device or allow it to be knocked violently.
  • Do not place any heavy objects on the device, the cable or the plug.
  • Do not pull or carry the device by the cable.
  • Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, wide temperature variations, moisture, wet conditions or direct sunlight.
Always test the device first on a small, inconspicuous spot on the clothing.
  • Never pour any descending or cleaning agent or other chemical additives into the device. This may destroy the device and safe working is no longer guaranteed.
  • Do not use any caustic or abrasive agents to clean the device. These may damage the surface. Do not use any metal objects to remove dirt from the bottom of the iron.

  • With the steam on/off button (13) you can switch on the steam function even at a low ironing temperature.
  • The device has an automatic switch-on function and an automatic safety switch-off function. Both work with the device in both the horizontal and vertical position:

1 When you plug the mains plug into the plug socket, the operating lamp (3) lights up. The device starts to heat up.
2 In horizontal position as soon as you let go of the handle (14), the device automatically goes back into stand-by (automatic safety switch-off function) and the operating lamp (3) flashes (in vertical position after 3 minutes). CAUTION: It takes a little while for the bottom (6) of the iron to cool down. Even once the device is in stand-by mode, never leave it unattended while it is still connected to the mains power!
3 If you touch the handle, the device switches on (automatic switch-on function) and the operating lamp lights up constantly.

  • Thanks to the ceramic coating on the bottom of the iron, the device slides effortlessly over the fabric during ironing.
  • The anti-limescale system of the device removes the lime from the water if you use tap water instead of distilled water for steam-ironing.
  • The self-cleaning function allows you to remove limescale residues from the device, see the „Self-Cleaning Function" chapter.

BEFORE INITIAL USE

Klarstein Steam Bro - BEFORE INITIAL USE - 1

CAUTION! Danger of suffocation from plastic films and bags! Keep children and animals away from the packaging material.

  • Water residues in the water reservoir are attributable to the fact that this device has been tested and do not constitute a defect.
  • Unpack the items supplied and check them for completeness (see the "Items Supplied and Device Overview" chapter) and transport damage. If the device, plug or mains cable does have damage, do not use the device!, but contact our customer service department.
  • Before using the device, remove all packaging materials and any labels that may be on the device and are used for protection during transportation or for advertising.
Before you use the iron on an item of clothing for the first time, iron over a damp

A scrap piece of fabric to remove any possible production residues from the bottom of the iron (see the „Use" chapter).

  • It is essential that you read through the "Ironing Recommendations" chapter before you first use the device!

IRONING RECOMMENDATIONS

Check before ironing whether the garment which is to be ironed has a label with ironing instructions on it and follow them. Otherwise choose the correct temperature based on the type of fabric. The recommended temperature and steam settings are:

Label Material Temperature
Synthetics (e.g. nylon, viscose), silk, velvet
Wool •
Cotton, linen • •
Not suitable for ironing MAX
  • Delicate items of clothing should be ironed inside out.
  • Sort the items of clothing based on the ironing temperature and start with the garments which require the lowest temperature. If you reduce the temperature on the device, wait a few minutes until the bottom of the iron has cooled down slightly before you continue ironing.
  • For an optimum ironing result, we recommend that you dry-iron the fabric after steam-ironing it in order to remove the moisture from it.

USE

Klarstein Steam Bro - USE - 1

CAUTION! Although the iron has an automatic safety switch-off function, you should still pull the mains plug out of the plug socket after ironing or during any prolonged pauses in order to prevent personal injury or damage to property. Never leave the iron unattended while it is connected to the mains power and keep children away from it.

  • Never attempt to iron clothes while somebody is wearing them.
  • Never aim the steam directly at people, animals or plants. This can cause severe scalding.

Filling the Water Reservoir

Klarstein Steam Bro - Filling the Water Reservoir - 1

CAUTION! Always pull out the mains plug before you top up/empty the water reservoir. Always pull the plug and never the cable. Never pour any cleaning agent or other additives into the device. This could destroy the device and safe working is no longer guaranteed. The water reservoir may be filled with a maximum of 300ml water to avoid overflowing. The useful service life of the device will be extended if you use pure distilled water.

The water reservoir (7) needs to be filled for steam-ironing or spraying. If you only want to dry-iron, there is no need for this.

1 Make sure that the device is not connected to the mains power.
2 Flip open the water reservoir cover (10). Please note that the cover cannot be completely detached from the device.
3 Place the device with the bottom of the iron (6) on a flat surface and tilt the tip of the bottom of the iron up at an angle of around 45^ .
4 Fill the reservoir (7) with the measuring cup which is also provided (15). The reservoir (7) holds approx. 300ml
5 Close the water reservoir by flipping the cover (10) shut again. Make sure that the water reservoir (7) is completely sealed shut.

Ironing

CAUTION! Never aim the steam directly at people, animals or plants. This can cause severe scalding.

1 Place the iron vertically on an ironing board.
2 Insert the mains plug into a properly installed mains socket that is easily accessible. The operating lamp (3) will light up.
3 Check the label in the garment for the required ironing temperature and set this using the temperature control (5). Turn the temperature setting you want to the marking (4).
4 You can now start ironing. Move the bottom of the iron (6) back and forth on the fabric until it is smooth.
5 With the steam on/off button (13) you can switch on and off the steam emission from the bottom of the iron (6). Press 1 × -on ; hold down for 2 s - off.
6 When the water reservoir is empty, steam will no longer be produced. Follow the instructions in the "Filling the Water Reservoir" section to top it up again.

Steam Blast / Vertical Steam-Ironing

Klarstein Steam Bro - Steam Blast / Vertical Steam-Ironing - 1

CAUTION! Make sure when doing vertical ironing that there is plenty of space around the item of clothing which is to be ironed. You may only perform vertical ironing if the item of clothing is hanging on a hanger and cannot come into contact with other garments, objects, people or animals. Iron the laundry only in places where heat and moisture cannot do any damage, e.g. NOT in front of wallpaper, windows or mirrors.

In addition to conventional steam-ironing, the iron can also emit a strong blast of steam, e.g. for smoothing stubborn creases or textiles which are hanging up.

  1. Make sure that the water reservoir has been filled and the device has heated up

  2. Press the button for a steam blast (12) move the bot- tom of the iron (6) a little in front of or on the fabric and then release the button again. NOTE: When performing vertical steam-ironing on delicate fabrics, hold the iron a few centimetres away from the fabric.

  3. Wait a few seconds before you press the button again.

Klarstein Steam Bro - Steam Blast / Vertical Steam-Ironing - 2

Spray Function

The spray function is suitable, for example, for moistening delicate textiles which cannot be steam-ironed. This function is independent of the steam function and is possible at any temperature.

Make sure that the water reservoir has been filled. Press the spray button (11) a few times. Water will be sprayed through the spray nozzle (9) onto the fabric. NOTE: This function is independent of the steam function and is possible at any temperature.

After Use

  1. Once you have fi nished ironing, switch off the steam function and the temperature control (5) to position MIN.

  2. Place the device upright on the base (2).

  3. Remove the mains plug from the plug socket.

  4. Allow the bottom (6) of the iron to cool down completely.

  5. Empty the water reservoir (7). To do this, flip open the water reservoir cover (10), hold the iron over a sink or similar outlet and turn it upside down. Allow all of the water to flow out of the reservoir (7).

  6. Then connect the iron to the mains power, switch on the steam function and move temperature control to the maximum setting (7) for a couple of minutes so that the rest of the water evaporates. Hold the iron horizontal as you do this. Then repeat steps 1 to 4.

  7. If necessary, wipe down the outside of the device with a soft, slightly damp cloth and then dry it with a soft cloth.

STORAGE

  1. Once the device has completely cooled down and the water reservoir (7) is empty (see the "Use" chapter, "After Use" section), wind up the mains cable.
  2. Store the device in a dry, clean, frost-free location which is out of the reach of children and animals. When you do this, place the device upright on its base (2) on a flat, stable surface.

SELF-CLEANING FUNCTION

Klarstein Steam Bro - SELF-CLEANING FUNCTION - 1

CAUTION! Danger of scalding! Hot water and steam will emerge from the bottom (6) of the iron during the self-cleaning process. Keep the bottom (6) of the iron away from all body parts and delicate materials when you press the button for self-cleaning (8)! Only ever press the button (8) to perform self-cleaning and not during ironing!

The device has a self-cleaning function allowing limescale residues to be removed from the device. Additional descaling of the device is not necessary. Perform the working steps which are described below regularly (at least every 10 operating hours):

  1. Fill the water reservoir (7) with water (see the "Use" chapter, "Filling the Water Reservoir" section). Ideally you should use distilled water for self-cleaning.
  2. Insert the mains plug into a properly installed mains socket that is easily accessible.
  3. Heat the device up to the highest temperature setting.
  4. Remove the mains plug from the mains socket.
  5. Hold the device horizontally over a sink or similar outlet.
  6. Press the button for self-cleaning (8).
  7. Allow the water reservoir (7) to run completely empty. Tilt the device back and forth slightly to allow the water to run out of all nozzles.
  8. Repeat the cleaning process several times until no more limescale residues emerge from the nozzles.
  9. If you need to, operate the device again for a short time in order to allow any remaining amounts of water to evaporate.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If the device should stop working properly, first check whether you are able to correct the problem yourself

Klarstein Steam Bro - TROUBLESHOOTING - 1

Do not attempt to repair a defective electrical device yourself!!

Problem Possible cause/solution
The device does not work. The operating lamp does not light up/flash.
Water emerges from the bottom of the iron.
Odour produced • You might notice a slight odour caused by production residues the first time you use the device. However, this is harmless and will cease as you use the device.
The device makes loud pumping noises.
No steam is produced. • Is the water reservoir filled with water? • The steam production is not activated. Press the steam on/off button (13). • If you have set a high temperature, the steam which is generated is dry and almost invisible. This is exacerbated by a high ambient temperature. Switch the temperature control to a lower temperature to check whether the device is pro-ducing steam. • Have you not moved the device for some time? The automatic safety switch-off function was activated. Take hold of the handle so that the device switches back on and heats up again.
