Read these operating instructions carefully before using the appliance for the first time and preserve this booklet for later reference. Pass this booklet on to whoever might acquire the appliance at a future date.
Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance.
You have clearly decided in favour of a quality product. These operating instructions are a part of this product. They contain important information in regard to safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of these operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and only for the specified areas of application. In addition, pass these documents on, together with the product, to any future owner.
Intended use
This appliance is intended exclusively for personal dental care. This appliance is intended exclusively for use in domestic households. The appliance is not intended for use in commercial, industrial or medical environments. It is not suitable for animal care.

Safety instructions
- To avoid damage, do not permit liquids of any kind to enter the appliance and do not submerse it in water.
- Avoid also possible penetration by foreign objects.
- In the event of malfunction or apparent damage, please contact our Customer Services.
- Toothbrushes may be used by children and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or, in regard to the safe use of the appliance, have been instructed in its use and have understood the potential risks.
- Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children, unless they are being supervised.
Children may not play with the appliance. - Do not submerse the hand appliance in water or other liquids. This would lead to irreparable damage to the appliance!
- This appliance is not intended for children under 3 years of age.
- This appliance may not come into contact with hot surfaces. The appliance could be irreparably damaged!
- Do not open the appliance (except the battery compartment) yourself. There is a risk of injury with improper reassembly!

Information regarding the handling of batteries
When interacting with batteries, please observe the following:
- Do not throw batteries into a fire. Do not recharge batteries. There is a risk of explosions and injuries!
- Never open batteries, never solder or weld batteries. There is a risk of explosions and injuries!

Regularly check the condition of the batteries. Leaking batteries can cause damage to the appliance.

If you do not intend to use the appliance for an extended period, remove the battery.
- In the event of the batteries leaking acids, first put on a pair of protective gloves. Then clean the battery compartment and the battery contacts with a dry cloth.
- Keep batteries well away from children. Children might put batteries into their mouths and swallow them. If a battery is swallowed, medical assistance must be sought immediately.
Tips on usage
- From about the age of 6 years children can use this battery powered toothbrush by themselves. It is however necessary that you explain to the child how to use both the toothbrush and the sandalass.
- Explain to the child that the best cleaning effect is obtained by moving the brush from tooth to tooth gently and without heavy pressure.
Firstuse
Before taking the appliance into use check to ensure that it is in a fault-free condition. If it is not, it may not be used.
- Open the battery compartment in that you slide the battery compartment lid ⑤ downwards.
- Insert the batteries in the battery compartment as per the polarity diagram (see chapter entitled "Changing the batteries").
- Replace the battery compartment lid ⑤ back onto the hand element ②. Ensure that it is firmly secured.
Before the first use, clean the new brush heads 1 with clear water.
Fitting / removing brush heads
To remove the brush head ①, turn it clockwise and then pull it upwards.
To fit the brush head ① place it slightly offset on the hand element ② and then turn it anti-clockwise.
The brush head ① must engage on being put back on. To avoid damage to the appliance, use only original brush heads.

Operation

Warning
Due to the unaccustomed operation some gum bleeding may initially occur, this is normal. Should this continue for more than two weeks, consult your dentist.
- Place the brush head ① on the hand element ②.
- Moisten the brush under flowing water.
- Apply some toothpaste to the moistened brush.

To avoid spraying toothpaste, first place the toothbrush on the teeth before switching it on.
- Start the toothbrush with the on switch ③ and turn the sandglass ⑥ upside down. This indicates to you when the 2 minutes of cleaning recommended by dentists has been completed.
- Brush the outer surfaces of your teeth first of all. Place the brush head ① on your gums and move the brush upwards/downwards from the gums to over the crown of the tooth.
- Start again from the gums for each individual tooth.
- Clean the inner surfaces of your teeth with the same technique.
- To clean the chewing surfaces, direct the rotating brush head with light pressure over the chewing surfaces.
- Finally, thoroughly clean the back parts of the molar teeth.
- When the sand in the sandglass 6 has passed through and all teeth have been brushed, stop the toothbrush with the off switch 4 and first then remove it from your mouth.
After use, clean the brush heads 1 thoroughly under running water.
Travelling case
If you wish to take the toothbrush with you on your travels, you can pack it in the travelling case.
Cleaning and Care
- Clean the hand element ② and the sandglass ⑥ only with a soft and lightly moistened cloth. Do not use detergents or solvents. They can damage the plastic surfaces.
- After use, clean the brush heads ① thoroughly under running water. We recommend cleaning the brush heads ① in a standard commercial cleaning fiuid for prosthetics every 2 - 4 weeks. After about 3 months, at the latest however when the bristles bend outwards, you should fi t a new brush head ①.

Warning regarding appliance damage!
Do not use sharp objects to remove dried-on toothpaste from the hand element 2, they could damage the seals and thus the appliance.

- Insert two new batteries of the type AA/LR6 1.5 V.
Always use batteries of the same type and never use a new and an old battery together.
- Ensure that the battery has the correct polarity
when inserting it. This is marked on both contacts inside the battery compartment. Please observe the adjacent drawing.
- Replace the battery compartment lid ⑤ so that it audibly engages and is firmly closed.
Disposal

Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2002/96/EC.
Dispose of the appliance through a registered specialist disposal firm or through your community waste disposal department. Observe the currently applicable regulations.
In case of doubt, contact your local waste disposal facility.
Disposal of batteries/accumulators

Used batteries/rechargeable batteries may not be disposed of in household waste. Every consumer is legally obliged to dispose of batteries at a collection site of his community/city district or at a retail store.
The purpose of this obligation is to ensure that batteries are disposed of in a non-polluting manner. Only dispose of batteries/cells when they are fully discharged.

Dispose of the packaging materials in an environmentally responsible manner.
Warranty and Service
This appliance entitles you to a warranty of 3 years from the date of purchase. The appliance has been manufactured with care and has been conscientiously examined and tested before delivery.
Please keep your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our service department.
Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured. The warranty covers only claims for material and manufacturing defects, not for transport damage, worn parts or for damage to fragile components, e.g. buttons or batteries. The appliance is intended for domestic use only, NOT for commercial purposes. The warranty is void in the case of abusive and improper handling, use of force and internal tampering not carried out by our authorized service branch.
Your statutory rights are in no way restricted by the terms of this warranty. The warranty period is not extended by repairs carried out under warranty. This applies also to replaced or repaired parts. All damages or defects discovered on purchase must be reported immediately after the unpacking, at the latest two days after the date of purchase. Repairs required after the lapse of the warranty period are subject to charges.
