Please read through this user manual thoroughly before using your Solis "Citrus Juicer", so that you become familiar with your appliance and can use it safely. We thoroughly recommend that you keep these instructions and, if you pass the appliance on, that you also hand these instructions to the new owner.

For your own safety, please observe the following safety measures when using electrical appliances:

1. To prevent electric shock, neither the motor unit nor the power cord and the power plug must come into contact with water or any other liquids. Risk of electric shock! Should the motor unit resp. the power cord or the power plug come into contact with water, use dry rubber gloves to immediately pull the power plug from the socket. Do not start using it again before having it checked for functionality and safety by Solis or a service centre authorized by Solis.
2. Do not operate the appliance resp. pull or connect the plug with wet or moist hands or feet.
3. Before using the appliance, check that the voltage stated on the type plate of your appliance matches your mains voltage. We do not recommend operating the appliance with a multi-way plug adapter.
4. Do not make any adjustments to the appliance, cable, plug or accessories.
5. Only use the appliance as described in this manual to juice citrus fruits. Do not use the appliance outdoors and protect it from moisture and wetness.

6. Do not leave the power cable hanging over table edges to prevent the appliance from being pulled down. Make sure that neither the appliance nor the power cord or plug comes into contact with hot surfaces, such as hotplates or a radiator, or that they come into contact with the appliance itself.

7. Install the power cord so that nobody can trip over it. Keep clear of pointed objects.

8. Always fully unwind the power cord before connecting the power plug to the power socket.
9. Never carry the appliance by the power cord and do not place anything on the power cord. Never pull on the power cord to disconnect the appliance from the power mains. Only pull on the plug.
10. We recommend that you do not use an extension cable with this appliance. Do not place the appliance directly underneath a power socket.
11. Keep the appliance away from hot gas, hot ovens and other heat-emitting appliances or heat sources. Never use the appliance on a hot or wet surface. Never place the appliance near moisture, heat and naked flames. Keep the appliance away from moving parts or appliances.
12. The appliance has to be placed on a solid, level, dry, stable and moisture resistant work surface. Vibration during operation may cause the appliance to move. Therefore do not place the citrus juicer near the edge of a bench or table during operation.
13. Keep a minimum safety distance of 20cm between the appliance and walls, curtains or other materials and objects and make sure that the air around the appliance can circulate freely.
14. Never cover the appliance with cloths or the like while it is in use. Do not place anything on the citrus juicer.
15. Never place the appliance in such a way that it might fall into water or come into contact with water (e.g. in or next to a sink).

16. The appliance is not designed for outdoor use. The appliance must not come into contact with rain. Do not use in vehicles or on boats.

17. Unplug the appliance when it is not in use or unattended, and before cleaning. We recommend the use of a residual current device (RCD safety switch) to ensure additional protection during the use of electrical appliances. It is advisable to use a safety switch with a rated residual operating current of 30 mA maximum. For professional advice consult an electrician.

18. Before pulling the power plug of the appliance out of the power socket, always make sure that the appliance is not in use.
19. Do not make any adjustments to the appliance, the power cord, the plug or the accessories.
20. Do not leave the citrus juicer unattended when in use. Incorrect use may cause injury!
21. Never reach for an appliance that has fallen into water or other liquids. Always use dry rubber gloves to pull the plug before taking it out. Do not start using it again before having it checked for functionality and safety by Solis or a service centre authorized by Solis.
22. Place the appliance so that it is never exposed to direct sunlight.
23. Never insert any objects or tool into appliance openings. The appliance may become damaged – danger of electric shock!
24. Always disconnect the power plug before attaching or removing parts.
25. Never use the appliance without citrus fruits, meaning letting it run idly.
26. Always make sure that the appliance is correctly assembled before connecting it to a power socket and starting to use it. Should this not be the case, the appliance might not be operational.

27. Never push the juicing cone down with your bare hand! You might be seriously injured!

28. Do not shake or move the appliance while it is in use. Never move the appliance while it is plugged in! You should wait for the juicing cone to stop rotating, disconnect the power plug and empty out the pulp filter before moving the appliance.

29. Only use the appliance as described in this manual. Only use with the provided accessories or accessories recommended by Solis, incorrect accessories or misuse can lead to damage of the appliance, fire, electric shock or personal damage.
30. Never use the appliance with an external timer switch or remote control.
31. The appliance is only suited for domestic use and not for commercial use.
32. Remove and discard all packaging materials and potential stickers or labels (except for the type plate) before using the appliance for the first time.
33. Check your citrus juicer before every use to make sure that the appliance, the power cord and the power plug are without damage and no parts have come loose.
34. To prevent electric shock, do not use the appliance if cord or power plug are damaged or if the appliance has other faults, has fallen down resp. is damaged in any other way or if parts have come loose. Never attempt repairs yourself but take the appliance to Solis or a service centre authorized by Solis in order to get it inspected, repaired or mechanically and electrically maintained, in order to avoid a hazard.
35. People with limited physical, sensorial or mental capabilities as well as unknowing or inexperienced people and children must not use the citrus juicer except when supervised or thoroughly instructed on how to use the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Additionally, they must be aware of the dangers arising from the appliance and know how to operate it safely. Cleaning and maintenance of the appliance must not be done by unsupervised children. Under no circumstances must the

appliance be used or cleaned by children under the age of 8. The appliance and its power cord have to kept away from children under the age of 8.

1. Keep the appliance and the power cord away from children and pets.
2. Children must be supervised, so that they do not play with the citrus juicer.
3. Always wait for the juicing cone to stop rotating before disconnecting the power plug, otherwise the appliance might be damaged.
4. Do not place anything on the appliance while it is in use or in storage.
5. Pull the plug after every use. Only then, the appliance is fully switched off.
6. The appliance has to be cleaned after every use. Please refer to the notes given in the section "Cleaning and Care" on page 71 of this manual.
7. Only clean the appliance chassis with a dry or slightly moist cloth. Never use aggressive, abrasive or acidic detergents for cleaning.
8. When lifting or moving the appliance, always hold the citrus juicer by its base. Always disconnect the power plug first and empty out the pulp filter / the juice collector. Always move the appliance very carefully and do not shake or throw it, it might be damaged.
9. During use, keep hands, fingers, hair, clothing, jewelry or kitchen tools well away from the juicing cone and never reach in. Risk of injury!

10. Always be very careful while juicing – never bring fingers, hands, hair, clothing, jewelry or kitchen tools near the rotating and moving parts.

11. Also keep your fingers and hands away from the hinge of the lever press arm when the appliance is in use or being shifted.

12. When the appliance has been in use for 5–6 minutes, you should take a break for at least 10 minutes in any case to prevent the motor from overheating.
13. Should you notice a strange smell or sound, pull the plug. Do not start using the appliance again before having its functionality and safety checked by Solis or a service centre authorised by Solis.
14. Caution: When cleaning or removing resp. installing parts, the appliance has to be at a complete standstill and be disconnected from the power. Otherwise, there is the risk of injury.

▲ APPLIANCE DESCRIPTION

A Lever press arm

Thanks to the solid metal lever press arm, you can apply ideal pressure onto the fruit and juice without any effort. Once the lever resp. the squeezing cone is pressed onto the juicing cone, the automatic activation is triggered; with soft touch handle.

Caution: Do not apply too much pressure to avoid overstraining the motor. Increased pressure does nothing to speed up the juicing process.

B Squeezing cone

The squeezing cone can be easily removed and reinstalled for cleaning purposes.

C Juicing cone

Extracts the maximum amount of juice, regardless of the size of the citrus fruit.

D Pulp filter

From stainless steel, dishwasher safe.

E Juice collector

Collects the juice and carries it through the spout into the prepared glass or container.

F Juice spout

Can be folded up after pouring to prevent fruit juice from spilling out.

G Motor unit

Equipped with a powerful 160 watt motor and four suction feet on the bottom for safe support.

▲ BEFORE FIRST USE

- Please remove all packaging materials and advertisement stickers resp. labels (apart from the type plate) before first use. Rinse the squeezing cone, the juicing cone, the pulp filter, the carrier and the juice collector with the spout in warm dishwater with a soft dish rag. Please refer to the sections "Disassembling the Appliance" on page 69 and "Cleaning and Care" on page 71 of this manual.

▲ ASSEMBLING THE APPLIANCE

1. Make sure that the power plug is not connected to the power outlet.
2. Push the lever press arm up and away from the motor base until it is stationary in the highest position.
3. Place the carrier over the drive shaft.
4. Place the juice collector over the carrier resp. the drive shaft on the motor base. Make sure that the juice spout is placed in the half-round opening on the front of the motor casing.
5. Now, place the pulp filter in the juice collector. The black bulge in the centre of the filter must be placed over the nib of the juice collector so that both parts congruently fit into each other (both parts lie opposite of the press arm).
6. Now, place the juicing cone on the carrier resp. the drive shaft.
7. To install the squeezing cone in the lever press arm, push the connection piece of the squeezing cone into the opening in the bottom of the lever. The nib of the connection piece points upwards, so that the connection piece snaps into the opening in the press arm.

1. Now make sure that the juice spout is folded out, meaning it is in the position for pouring.
2. The appliance is ready for use as soon as you connect the power plug to a suitable power outlet.

OPERATION

1. Check if the Solis Citrus Juicer has been assembled correctly in the described way. Place a glass or another container underneath the juice spout before starting to juice.
2. Now make sure that the juice spout is folded out, meaning it is in the position for pouring.
3. Cut the citrus fruit in two halves. To squeeze juice more effectively, you should cut the fruit laterally, not lengthwise from end to end.

Note: Some citrus fruits, e.g. mandarines, might have thicker ends. To ensure optimal contact to the juicing cone, it is recommended to clip the pointed ends with a knife.

1. Connect the power plug to a suitable wall outlet.
2. Place one half of the citrus fruit, with the cut side facing down, on the juicing cone and press the fruit onto the spike of the juicing cone. Caution: If you apply too much pressure, you engage the automatic activation and the juicing cone starts rotating!
3. Take the lever handle of the press arm and push the lever press arm down slowly in one smooth movement, until the squeezing cone comes into contact with the fruit skin. Once this contact is made and some pressure is applied, the motor will start automatically and the juicing cone will begin spinning. The juice is squeezed from the fruit and runs through the juice spout into the glass resp. the container. The pulp and the pips are collected in the pulp filter.
4. As the Solis Citrus Juicer works very effectively, it will only take a few seconds until one fruit half is juiced. After a short time, you can return the lever press arm into the highest position and the motor will stop automatically.
5. Take the squeezed-out fruit half from the juicing cone and, if necessary, empty out the pulp filter resp. repeat steps 5 to 7 to juice the other fruit halves.

Caution:

• Do not apply too high pressure to the press arm, the pressure should not exceed 3 kg. Press for a maximum of 15 seconds and then stop applying pressure for 15 seconds.
• If the appliance has been in use for 5–6 minutes, you should take a break of 10 minutes in any case.

Notes:

• The pulp filter should be emptied once it is filled with pulp and pips.
- If you want to empty the pulp filter while juicing, pull the power plug, pivot the lever press arm to the highest position, fold up the juice spout and carefully remove the juicing cone and the pulp filter with the juice collector. Empty and rinse the filter and the juicing cone and reinstall everything into the appliance before plugging it back in and starting to juice again.
- The pulp filter should never be too full, as this hinders the appliance from functioning optimally resp. might cause damage to it.
- Should the diameter of the fruit you wish to juice be too large for the squeezing cone, you can leave the lever press arm folded up and grab the fruit half with your hand. Like that, you can juice basically every citrus fruit.

DISASSEMBLING THE APPLIANCE

1. Always disconnect the power plug from the wall outlet first.
2. Push the lever press arm up, away from the motor base, until it reaches the highest position. Close the juice spout by folding it up into the no-drip position.
3. Hold the lever press arm and remove the squeezing cone by pulling it sharply out of the lever press arm.
4. Carefully lift the juice collector with the pulp filter and the juicing cone. Remove the juicing cone and the pulp filter from the juice collector over a sink so that the pulp leftovers can be easily removed. Then, clean the single parts as described in the "Cleaning and Care" section on page 71.
5. Should a little bit of juice drip onto the work surface, please always wipe it off immediately to prevent the surface from being damaged.

▲ HINTS

Things to know about freshly squeezed fruit juice:

• Not only does freshly squeezed fruit juice taste natural, fresh and delicious, most of all it is healthy. Freshly squeezed juice contains a number of important and healthy vitamins and minerals that are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream: In a minimum of time, the body is supplied with vitamins and nutrients. Especially its high content of vitamin C makes the juice of citrus fruits a reliable weapon against coughs, sneezes and the flu.
• To preserve the vitamins as best as possible for the body, the juice should be drunk immediately after squeezing it to prevent the precious vitamins from being lost.

Things to know about the proper fruit and how to store it:

• Only use fresh fruits for juicing.
- Select fruits with firm, smooth skin without any spoiled parts.
• Mid-sized grapefruit, oranges, lemons and limes are especially easy to juice.
- Citrus fruits can be stored in a dry environment at room temperature. If you want to keep the fruits fresh for longer periods of time, storing them in the fridge is recommended.

▲ CLEANING AND CARE

• Before disassembling or cleaning the appliance, please always check if the plug has been pulled. Of course, this also applies if you want to reassemble or store the appliance.
• As described below, all surfaces and appliance parts that come into contact with foods while juicing should be cleaned carefully.
• We recommend rinsing all removable parts (juice collector with juice spout, pulp filter, juicing cone, squeezing cone and carrier) immediately after use in warm water to remove the still-wet pulp and the pips. Let all parts air dry before reassembling them.
  • For thorough cleaning, all removable parts should be cleaned in warm dishwater.
• The motor base and the lever press arm should be thoroughly cleaned with a slightly moist cloth. Let all parts dry completely before reassembling them. Never submerge the motor base, the power cord or the power plug in water or other liquids.
• Store the cleaned and fully assembled citrus juicer in an upright position at a cool, dark place, best in the original packaging. Do not place anything on the appliance or the packaging while in storage.

Notes:

• Rinse or clean all removable appliance parts immediately after use. Dried citrus fruit pulp is difficult to remove and might cause stains. Should any stains appear, wipe the affected areas clean with undiluted dishwashing liquid and a moist cloth. Rinse the accessories and dry everything carefully.
• Do not place the pulp filter or the other removable parts in bleach. For sterilisation, the appliance parts can not be subjected to high temperatures.
• Never use aggressive or scouring detergents or solutions to clean the motor base and the appliance parts – they might scratch the surface.
• Apart from the stainless steel pulp filter, the parts must not be placed in the dishwasher.

▲ TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem Solution
The appliance does not function.	- Was the power plug connected to a working power outlet?- Was the lever press arm pushed down?- Were juicing cone and squeezing cone correctly mounted to the appliance?- Were pulp filter and juice collector correctly installed?- The motor overload protection has been triggered.(See below for details)
Motor overload protection has been triggered.	- To protect the motor, your Solis Citrus Juicer is fitted with overload protection. Should the juicer suddenly stop after prolonged use or when processing fruits that are hard to juice, pull the plug and let the appliance cool down for 15 minutes. Once the appliance has cooled down, you can start using it again.- Note:To allow the motor overload protection to reset, it is critical that the power plug is pulled! Wait for 5–10 minutes before reconnecting the appliance to the power and starting it up again.- In spite of the newly fitted motor overload protection, we recommend not juicing too many fruits in one go but instead always processing them in smaller amounts. Always take a 10 minute break after having the appliance in use for 5–6 minutes!
