HOW THE SOLIS AIRWASHER QUBIC WORKS
Dry air will dry out the mucous membranes, leading to coughs and sneezes, respiratory infections and headaches. Tiredness, lack of concentration as well as cracked lips and dry eyes are often caused by dry air. Also, insufficient humidity might be a burden for people with allergies, pets and indoor plants. It will put music instruments out of tune and increase dust formation and the electrostatic charge of synthetic clothing.
With the Solis Airwasher Qubic you have made a good choice for counteracting these symptoms. It humidifies and cleans the air in the room based on a natural model, just like a refreshing shower of summer rain: On the inside of the Solis Airwasher Qubic, 20 humidification disks are spun through a water tub, the pollutants in the suctioned, dry air are naturally collected in the water. The air that is released back into the room is humid and clean.
BEFORE FIRST USE
Before using your Airwasher for the first time, remove all possibly attached advertisement stickers (except for the type plate).
- Should the appliance be stored at very low temperatures, you should let it stand at room temperature for approx. 1 hour before starting to use it.
Only use the appliance when the room temperature lies somewhere between 5^ and 40^ . The relative humidity should not exceed 80% . By the way: Relative humidity between 40% and 60% is ideal.
- Place the Airwasher on a stable, solid, dry, level and moisture resistant surface where it can not be knocked over. A deep-pile rug or carpet is not a suitable subsurface. Unimpeded air circulation around the appliance is extremely important for proper humidification. We recommend a minimum distance of 50 cm to walls, heaters and other objects.
- Remove the upper appliance backside with the handhold by first tilting it outwards at the top and then lifting it up and away. The water tank is behind the appliance backside.

- Turn the water tank upside down and screw off the tank lid.
Hold the tank opening under a tap and fill it with fresh tap water. It is best to fill the tank completely. You can check the water level through the inspection window. The water should not be completely cold but also not warmer than 30^ .
CAUTION: Do not mix any additives like essential oils or perfumes into the water! These additives damage the appliance resp. cause discolorations to the plastic. Appliances that are damaged by adding additives are excluded from warranty.
NOTE: Humidification will be even more effective if the filled water is not very cold. However, the water temperature should not exceed 30^ , otherwise the humidification disks and other appliance parts might be damaged. To prevent fast calcification, you can use filtered water if the water is very calciferous. However, slight limescale on the humidification disks improve the humidification power, as the microstructure of the limescale causes even more water to stick to the disks.
Make sure that the shaft with the humidification disks is correctly placed in the receptacle in the water tub. The cogwheel of the humidification disks should be positioned in the rear end of the tub. NOTE: The humidification will only fit the receptacle if the cogwheel is positioned in the rear end of the tub.

Screw the lid back onto the water tank and turn the tank upside down.
Lock the appliance backside with the water tank back into the appliance.

You should be able to hear the burbling water flow from the tank into the water tub with the humidification disks.
Plug the power plug into the power outlet. The LED lights up in red and a signal sounds, the appliance is in standby mode. In standby mode, only the button can be used to activate the appliance.
NOTE: If you have filled the water tank for the first time, the water might smell or change in colour. This is normal and has no negative effect on the functionality of the appliance or your health.
THE FUNCTION BUTTONS
The function buttons are touch sensitive sensor buttons. Briefly touching the function buttons will switch on the corresponding functions and illuminate the respective function displays. Every touch is accompanied by a signal sound.
NOTE FOR DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS:
After switching the appliance on or after using a button, the display lights up brightly. After a while, it dims down automatically.
ON/OFF BUTTON
As soon as the power plug is connected to the power outlet, you can activate the Airwasher with the button. A signal sounds, the display states Hi! for 2 seconds, then it starts alternating between showing the current settings and data:
-ventilation power
- humidification power
current room humidity
-timer setting (if activated)
- When using the appliance for the first time and when plugging in the power plug after having it disconnected, the following default settings are set: slow ventilation (SL) and continuous humidification (CO).
Touching the button again switches the appliance off. A signal sounds, the display briefly states OFF, then the display goes dark and the appliance switches off within 2 seconds.
VENTILATION SPEED BUTTON
You can use this button to choose from four ventilation speeds:
SL for slow ventilation speed
- LO for low ventilation speed
- MI for medium ventilation speed
HI for high ventilation speed
- Touching the button again after the HI setting will set the ventilation speed back to the SL setting (slow).

- You can use this button to set the desired room humidity. The following settings are possible:
40% 50% 60% 70% CO for continuous humidification
Each touch of the button increases the value by 10% . Above 70% , the continuous humidification (CO) is activated. If the set value (between 40% and 70% ) exceeds the current room humidity, the appliance works in the set ventilation speed to achieve the set value. Once the set value has been reached, the appliance stops. It reactivates if the room humidity drops below the set value.
In the CO function, the room air is humidified continuously without a concrete value having to be set.
Touching the button again after the CO setting will return the appliance to the 40 % setting.

TIMER FUNCTION BUTTON
The timer function is deactivated in the standard setting 00h.
Once you touch the button, 01h lights up for one hour. Each touch of the button increases the value by one hour until a maximum of 12 hours is reached. After that, 00h lights up in the display and the timer is deactivated again.
- When the desired humidification time resp. the set hours have elapsed, the appliance switches off without a sound signal.

NIGHT MODE BUTTON
With this button, you can activate the night mode, meaning that the appliance switches to slow ventilation speed SL while all the other settings stay intact. However, there is no sound signal when the water shortage alarm is sounded, the display merely states NO! in alternation with the three bars. Like that, nobody will be woken up by the appliance. If you have activated night mode, only the night mode button and the ON/OFF button can be operated, all the other buttons are locked.
If you wish to activate night mode, touch the button. ZZ flashes five times in the display, then the display is dimmed down before going dark completely.
If you wish to deactivate night mode, touch the button again, ZZ-fleshes three times in the display and the appliance switches back to the most recent settings. The display lights up normally.
"WATER SHORTAGE" DISPLAY
Once you activate the appliance, the Airwasher checks if there is enough water in the water tub. Should this not be the case, it automatically switches to the water shortage safety function. This is also the case if the appliance runs dry during use, in this case, the appliance switches to water shortage safety function within 6 seconds.
In the water shortage safety function, the main motor switches off. The display states NOI in alternation with Simultaneously, sound signals can be heard, again after 30 seconds and again after further 30 seconds. Then, the appliance switches to standby mode, the display goes out.
In the water shortage safety function, only the ON/OFF button can be operated.
FILLING WATER INTO THE WATER TANK
- Switch the appliance off with the ON/OFF button. Carefully remove the upper appliance backside with the handhold by first tilting it outwards at the top and then lifting it up and away. Turn the water tank upside down, open the tank lid and fill the water tank with fresh tap water. Then, close the tank with the lid and lock the tank back into the appliance.
STARTING UP
If the water tank is filled with fresh tap water and the appliance is correctly assembled (water tub with humidification disks inserted, water tank installed) and connected to the power, you can start using it.
1. SWITCHING THE APPLIANCE ON
- Touch the button to activate the appliance. The display will state Hil, followed by SL for the slowest ventilation speed and CO for continuous humidification power (default setting) and the current room humidity. The humidity switch built into the appliance measures the air humidity directly at the appliance. A humidity switch placed away from the appliance might display a different air humidity value.
2. CHOOSING FUNCTIONS
- Choose the desired functions. Use the button to set the ventilation speed and the button to set the desired air humidity. If desired, activate the timer function or the night mode. The display will successively display all settings. The cycle, into which the current air humidity is also included, is then continuously repeated.
In general: The higher the room temperature is, the quicker the humidification will be.
The appliance switches off automatically if the water tub is not sufficiently filled with water. NOI is displayed in alternation with the three bars. The appliance switches off (please refer to the section "Water shortage display" on page 89).
Before refilling the appliance with water, please always switch the appliance off with ON/OFF button first. Then, tilt the rear top section of the appliance with the inlying water tank outwards and lift it off. Now, the water tank can be filled with fresh water.
AFTERUSE
If you wish to switch the appliance off completely, always touch the ON / OFF button first and then disconnect the power plug from the power outlet.
If you do not wish to use the appliance for 2 days or more, we recommend pouring out the water in the water tub and the water tank and drying the water tub with a dry towel as well as letting the humidification disks air-dry in the open appliance.
In general, we recommend pouring away the water remaining in the water tub before filling it with new water.
- Important: Always remove the humidification disks before pouring away the water.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The recommended cleaning intervals depend on the air and water quality as well as the operation time and frequency.
Before cleaning, always switch the appliance off and pull the power plug from the socket.
We recommend filling the appliance with fresh water every day.
GB WEEKLY CLEANING OF THE WATER TUB AND THE HUMIDIFICATION DISKS AS WELL AS THE WATER TANK
Particles of dirt and microorganisms collect in the water tub during use, which is why the tub has to be cleaned regularly, at least once a week. With the water tank removed, carefully pull the water tub with the humidification disks out of the appliance. Remove the humidification disks. Empty out the water tub. Use tap water no warmer than 30^ with some mild detergent and a soft towel resp. a soft sponge to clean the tub. After that, rinse the inside of tub thoroughly with water. Dry the inside of the tub with a soft towel and leave it to air-dry with the appliance opened.
Approx. every 4 weeks, the humidification disks should be cleaned. To do that, remove the humidification disks from the water tub and loosen the smooth, white plastic clasp on the front of the shaft by turning it in a clockwise direction.

The humidification disks can now be pulled off the shaft one by one. Clean the humidification disks with a towel resp. a soft sponge and some warm tap water (max. 30^ ) containing some mild detergent. Place the humidification disks back on the shaft and lastly reattach the white plastic clasp. Fasten it by turning it in a counter-clockwise direction. Then, place the humidification disks back in the water tub.

Clean the water tank with a moist towel and rinse the inside with some tap water. After that, empty the tank out completely.
It is absolutely necessary that the Airwasher is completely emptied out and cleaned if the water-filled appliance has not been used for more than a week.
CAUTION: The humidification disks and the water tub cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher!
In general, please do not use any aggressive or abrasive detergents or metal sponges, as these might damage the surface.
DESCALING THE WATER TANK, THE WATER TUB AND THE HUMIDIFICATION DISKS
If the water tank, the water tub and the humidification disks are calcified, these parts should be descaled with a commercially available descaling solution suitable for air humidifiers. Depending on the water hardness, this should be done once a month. If the water is very hard, it should be done every two weeks.
NOTES:
The repair of damages caused by the use of improper descending solutions is not covered by warranty.
We recommend performing the descending process in a well ventilated area, ideally outdoors like e. g. on a balcony. The humidification disks have to be placed in the appliance, the appliance should be assembled like for normal use.
Pour tap water (max. 30^ warm) and the amount of descending solution stated on the package into the tank in the correct mixing ratio. The water tank has a total capacity of 4 litres. Screw the water tank shut and put it back into the appliance. Switch the appliance on with the button and use the humidification power button to set the appliance to continuous humidification CO. Leave the appliance running for at least one hour.
Depending on the tenacity of the limestone deposits, it might take longer until all the limestone deposits are removed.
Afterwards, carefully rinse the water tank, the water tub and the humidification disks with water and dry everything.
CLEANING THE CHASSIS
Regularly clean the chassis with a slightly moist towel and some mild detergent.
In general, please do not use any aggressive or abrasive detergents or metal sponges for cleaning, as these might damage the surface.
CLEANING THE CHARCOAL FILTER
There is a charcoal filter underneath the air inlet cover on the side of the Airwasher. The efficiency of the Airwasher is reduced if large amounts of dust gather on the charcoal filter, we therefore recommend cleaning the charcoal filter at least once a month.
1. Remove the air inlet cover by pulling it away, using the small handhold at the bottom of the cover.
2. The black charcoal filter is right behind it. You can pull the filter off with the help of the lower loop.

- Use a vacuum cleaner set to low power to vacuum clean the charcoal filter. Alternatively, you can use a soft brush to clean the filter.
CAUTION: Never submerge the charcoal filter in water or other liquids, this would render it unusable.
After one year, you should swap out the charcoal filter. You can purchase a replacement from Solis or good specialist retailers. Contact addresses can be found at the end of this manual.
- After cleaning, first reinsert the charcoal filter into the appliance side, then lock the air inlet cover back into place. To do that, first insert the upper two ribs into the chassis, then press down on the bottom.
STORAGE
- Check if the appliance is switched off and the power plug is pulled resp. the power cord is removed. The water has to be drained completely.
- Check if the appliance inside is completely clean and dry. If necessary, let the appliance stand open until the humidification disks and the water tub are dry on the inside.
- Keep the appliance standing upright in a dry, dark spot, best in the original packaging. Do not place anything on the appliance.
Always keep the appliance and power cord out of the reach of children.
