USER MANUAL HS 6830 GRUNDIG

Please note the following instructions when using the appliance:

  • Keep the instruction manual for future use. Should a third party be given the appliance, please ensure the instruction manual is included.
    The appliance is designed for domestic use only.
  • Never use the appliance in the bathtub, shower or over a wash basin filled with water; nor should it be operated with wet hands.

  • Do not immerse the appliance in water or let it come into contact with water, even during cleaning.
    If the appliance is used in the bathroom, it is essential that the power plug is pulled out after use, as any water close to the appliance can still pose a hazard, even if the appliance is switched off.

If not already in use, for additional protection it is recommended to install a residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA in the electrical circuit of your bathroom. Ask your plumber for advice.
- Never cover the appliance, for example with a towel.
- The appliance can become very hot. Never leave your hair between the ceramic plates for more than a few seconds.
- The outer surface of the appliance may get hot when used for long periods. In this case do not touch with your hands and allow it to cool.
- Do not allow the hot styling plates to come into contact with your face, neck or head.
- Unplug the appliance after use. Do not disconnect the plug by pulling on the cord. Place the appliance on a heat resistant surface and allow it to cool.
- Never use the appliance if it or the power cord is visibly damaged.

If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, a service centre or a similarly qualified person to avoid any danger of electrical shock.
- Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Chil dren shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

Styling options

The temperature settings make this appliance suitable for all types of hair.

Using your hair styler, you can:

Straighten hair
Shape the ends (inwards and outwards)
Style soft-cascading waves and curls.

Straightening hair

Caution

  • The housing of the appliance becomes very hot near the heating plates. Do not touch the housing near the heating plates.
  • Place the appliance on a solid, flat, heat resistant surface. Do not place the appliance on any soft or uneven surfaces such as carpets, rugs or bedding and never cover.
    Make sure your hair is completely dry.

1 Plug the power cord into the wall socket.
2 Switch the appliance on by pushing the On/Off switch B.

  • The mode indicator LED C lights up in blue.

3 Turn the temperature setting dial between + and - to adjust the required heat.

Notes

Adjust to the lowest temperature the first time you use it.
The appliance is able to reach a maximum temperature in 60 seconds.
4 Comb or brush out a section of your hair about 3cm wide, starting at the neck.
5 Place the section of hair between the solid ceramic plates as close to the hair line as you can, and then close them.

Caution

  • Do not touch the ceramic plates as they are very hot.
    6 Hold the appliance in position until the hair is heated.

  • This takes a few seconds at the most.

7 Guide the ceramic plates in a careful, smooth movement away from the head to the end of the section of hair. Avoid making kinks in it.

Notes

Repeat the procedure section by section.
If you have thick hair, you might have to repeat this procedure on the same section several times.
8 After use, switch the appliance off by pushing the On/Off switch B. The mode indicator LED C turns off. Then unplug the power cord F.

  • Never leave the appliance unattended while it is plugged in.
    Unplug the power cord after use.
  • Allow the appliance to cool in a safe place.

Styling waves or curls

Caution

3 Turn the temperature setting wheel D between + and - to adjust the required heat.

6 Depending on the hair style, rotate the appliance by 180^ so that the hair wraps around it at the height of the heating plates A.
7 While rotating, slowly pull the appliance towards the ends of the hair.

  • A curl is formed once the appliance has been pulled down and over the ends of the hair.

8 After use, switch the appliance off by pushing the On/Off switch B. The mode indicator LED C turns off. Then unplug the power cord F.

Cleaning and care

1 Turn the appliance off and unplug the power cord F from the wall socket.
2 Before cleaning, allow the appliance to cool completely.

The appliance can become very hot and may take up to 45 minutes to cool.

3 Clean the housing and the ceramic plates with a damp, soft cloth only.

Caution

  • Never put the appliance or power cord in water or any other liquid. Do not use any cleaning agents.

Note

Before using the appliance after cleaning, dry all parts carefully using a dry soft towel.

Storage

If you do not plan to use the appliance for a long period of time, please store it carefully.

Make sure that it is unplugged, has completely cooled and is completely dry.

Do not wrap the power cord around the appliance.

Keep it in a cool, dry place.

Make sure that the appliance is kept out of the reach of children.
