10 Operating Manual

10.1 General

Please read the information contained herein so that you can become familiar with your device quickly and take advantage of the full scope of its functions.

Your device will serve you for many years if you handle it and care for it properly. We wish you a lot of pleasure in using it!

10.2 Information on this manual

These Operating Instructions are a component of the TeeGourmet Pro (referred to hereafter as the device) and provide you with important information for the initial commissioning, safety, intended use and care of the device. The Operating Instructions must be available at all times at the device. This Operating Manual must be read and applied by every person who is instructed to work with the device:

  • Commissioning - Operation - Troubleshooting and/or - Cleaning

Keep the Operating Manual in a safe place and pass it on to the subsequent owner along with the device.

11 Safety

This chapter provides you with important safety notices when handling the device. The device corresponds with the required safety regulations. Improper use can result in personal or property damages.

11.1 Intended use

This device is only intended for use in households in enclosed spaces for boiling of tea & water.

This device is intended for use in the household and for similar applications such as:

  • in kitchens for employees in shops, offices, and other commercial areas; - in B&Bs,
  • in agricultural estates;
  • by customers in hotels, motels and other residential establishments.

Uses for a different purpose or for a purpose which exceeds this description are considered incompatible with the intended or designated use.

Dangers can emanate from the device if it is used for an unintended use and/or a different kind of use.

  • Use the device exclusively for its intended use.
    Observe the procedural methods described in this Operating Manual.

11.2 General Safety information

Please observe the following general safety notices with regard to the safe handling of the device.

Read all instructions before using.
DO NOT use this device for anything other than its intended use.
This device may be used by children aged 8 and above, if they are supervised or have been instructed at to the safe use of the device and have understood the resulting hazards.
- Cleaning and maintenance by the user must not be performed by children unless they are at least 8 years old and are supervised.
Children are not allowed to play with the device.
The device and its connecting cable must be kept away from children who are less than 8 years old.
The device may be used by individuals with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and / or knowledge of their use if they are supervised or have been instructed at to the safe use of the device and have understood the resulting hazards.
Always unplug from the plug socket, when there is no water in the kettle, when the device is not in use and before cleaning or moving the kettle.
DO NOT use outdoors.
Do not fill the kettle when it is positioned on the base.
For your own safety, only use manufacturer accessories and spare parts suited to your device.

  • Only customer service departments authorized by the manufacturer may carry out repairs on the device, as otherwise the guarantee entitlements will be null and void in the event of any subsequent damages. Improperly performed repairs can cause considerable dangers for the user.
    Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts. Only such parts will guarantee that the safety requirements are fulfilled.
    NEVER let the cable hang over the edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces. This may damage the insulation of the power cable.
    Dry the bottom of the kettle before placing it onto the power base.
    Do not use the kettle to heat anything other than tea or water (no other liquids).
    Do not fill above the „max“ indication.
    Do not operate kettle if water is below „min“ indication.
    Always store excess power cable in the compartment of the base unit.
    Do not heat up frozen water!
    Let the device cool down before you fill it with fresh water.
    Do not use a base unit other than the one provided.
    The tea filter and its holder contain magnets. Keep objects which are sensitive to magnetic fields away from them.
    Device is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

11.3 Sources of danger

11.3.1 Danger of burns

WARNING Warning

The water heated in this device, the kettle with its lid and the tea filter with its lid can become very hot.

Please observe the following safety notices in order not to burn or scald yourself or others.

  • When boiling water & tea the kettle and the lid, the tea filter and its lid become hot.
    Hot surfaces may still be hot after use. Do not touch the kettle directly after use. Residual heat can cause burns!
    Do not remove the lid during boiling.
    Touch the device only at its handle.
    Be careful when you move hot and full kettle.
  • Do not place any objects or cloths on the device during operation.
    Always test the temperature of the water & tea before you drink them.
    Do not operate the device with an open lid.
    Pay attention to the hot water steam that is produced during boiling process. Risk of burns.
    Incorrect use of the device may cause serious burns, therefore, attention shall be taken.
  • Overflowing of boiling or hot water can cause serious burns or injury.
    If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may spill out.

11.3.2 Risk of injury

There may be a risk of injury.

The kettle is made of glass. Glass breakage can result in sharp and fierce edges. There is a risk of injury.
Do not use the kettle if it is damaged.
Handle cracked glass carefully.
The tea filter and its holder contain magnets. Magnets can interfere with pacemakers and internal defibrillators, but we have no knowledge about any hazards. Concerned persons should talk with their doctor in case of any doubt.

11.3.3 Dangers due to electrical power

Mortal danger due to electrical power!

Mortal danger exists when coming into contact with live wires or subassemblies! Observe the following safety notices to avoid dangers due to electrical power:

To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not remove the bottom cover of the power base by yourself.
- Do not operate this device if it has a damaged cable or plug, if it is not working properly or if it has been damaged or dropped. If the power cable or plug are damaged, then they must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent in order to avoid a hazard.
- Do not open the housing on the device under any circumstances. There is a danger of an electrical shock if live connections are touched and the electrical or mechanical structure is altered. In addition, functional faults on the device can also occur.
Be careful and avoid water spillage on the plug.

12 Commissioning

12.3 Unpacking

Remove the device out of the carton and remove the packaging material.

12.4 Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the device against damages during transit. The packaging materials are selected in accordance with environmentally compatible and

recycling-related points of view and can therefore be recycled. Returning the packaging back to the material loop saves raw materials and reduces the quantities of accumulated waste. Take any packaging materials that are no longer required to "Green Dot" recycling collection points for disposal.

12.5 Setup location requirements:

In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the setup location must fulfil the following prerequisites:

  • Place the device on a firm and even work surface.
  • Place the device on a water-resistant surface.

  • Do not operate the device under delicate furniture as the escaping steam could damage them.

  • Do not use the device outdoors.
  • Do not operate the product near hot gas or hot stove.
  • Choose the setup location in such a way that children cannot reach the device.
  • The device is not intended to be installed in a wall or a built-in cupboard.
  • Do not set up the device in a hot, wet or extremely damp environment or near flammable material.
  • Do not place the device near any inflammable materials, explosive and/or self-igniting gases.
  • The electrical socket must be easily accessible so that the power lead can be disconnected easily, in the case of an emergency.
  • The installation and assembly of this device in non-stationary setup locations (e.g. on ships) must be carried out by specialist companies / electricians, provided they guarantee the prerequisites for the safe use of this device.

12.6 Electrical connection

In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the following instructions must be observed for the electrical connection:

  • Before connecting the device, compare the connection data (voltage and frequency) on the rating plate with those of your electrical network. This data must agree in order that no damages occur in the device. If in doubt, ask your qualified electrician.
  • The connection between the device and the electrical network may employ a 3 meter long (max.) extension cable with a cross-section of 1.5mm^2 . The use of multiple plugs or gangs is prohibited because of the danger of fire that is involved with this.
  • Make sure that the power cable is undamaged and has not been installed under the device or over hot or sharp surfaces.
  • The electrical outlet must be protected by a 16A safety cut-out switch.
  • The electrical safety of the device is only guaranteed if the device is connected to a properly installed protective conductor system. If in doubt, have the house installation checked over by a qualified electrician.

The manufacturer cannot be made responsible for damages that are caused by a missing or damaged protective conductor.

13.2 Control Panel

A Auto Start button: To program the timer for a delayed start of boiling and brewing process.

B Keep warm button (Warmhalten): To activate the keep warm function.

C Tea button (Tee): To choose programmed temperature for different types of tea.

D buttons: To set individual temperature

E Display: Shows brewing temperature, brewing time, time and start time.

F buttons: To set individual brewing time

G Brewing time button (Ziehdauer): To set the strength of the tea with brewing time. H ON/OFF button (An/Aus): To start and stop the boiling and brewing process

13.3 Rating plate

The rating plate with the connection and performance data can be found beneath the device.

14 Operation and Handling

This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to operating the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages.

14.1 Cleaning before first use

Remove the tea filter from the kettle and clean it thoroughly under running water.

Fill the kettle with 1,2L water, replace the tea filter on the holder and place the kettle on the base. Plug the plug into the socket. Use the buttons to set temperature to 100^ and brewing time to 4 minutes. Press the ON/OFF button (An/Aus) to start the process. Let the water boil and then pour it away. Repeat the process.

14.2 Function for tea

Turn the lid to position OPEN and remove it.

Remove the tea filter from the holder. Fill 0,5-1,2 L water into the kettle.

Please note

For brewing of tea the maximum amount of water is 1,2 liter.

Fill tea into the tea filter and close it. Place the filter on the holder. Place the lid on the kettle and turn it to position CLOSE. Place the kettle on the base.

Plug the plug into the socket. The device beeps. The display shows the last selected temperature and brewing time. Press tea button (Tee) and choose desired tea type. Use brewing time button (Ziehdauer) to choose desired strength. Corresponding LED lights up.

The programmed temperatures and brewing times depend on the type of tea and strength as follows:

You can choose an individual (individual) setting with the buttons for temperature and brewing time as shown in the table.

Press ON/OFF button (An/Aus) to start the process.

You can stop the boiling process at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button (An/Aus).
- When you use · buttons for temperatur, then the set temperature and brewing time are displayed.
- You can change brewing time during boiling with the buttons for the brewing time.

When the selected temperature is reached, then the tea filter automatically moves into the hot water and the tee is brewed. The brewing time counts down.

When the desired strength is reached then the tea filter moves up again.

The device beeps and stops working. The illumination of the ON/OFF button (An/Aus) will turn off and the display turns off after 2 minutes. The device switches to standby-mode.

The tea filter is very hot after brewing process. Let the tea filter cool down before touching or removing it.

14.3 Function for hot water

Remove the tea filter when you want to boil water but do not want to make tea.

  • When you have cooked tea before, then thoroughly clean the kettle before boiling water.

Fill 0,5 - 1,7L water in to the kettle. Replace the lid and turn it to position CLOSE. Place the kettle onto the base. Plug the plug into the socket.

The device beeps. The display shows the last selected temperature and brewing time. Set brewing time to 0:00. Set the desired temperature with the buttons.

Press ON/OFF button (An/Aus) to start the process.

The device beeps and stops working when the desired temperature is reached. The illumination of the ON/OFF button (An/Aus) will turn off and the display turns off after 2 minutes. The device switches to standby-mode.

HINWEIS Please note

You can stop the boiling process at any time by pressing the ON/OFF button (An/Aus).
- When brewing time 0:00 is displayed then water will be boiled but tea will not be brewed.
- When you use buttons for temperatur, then the set temperature and brewing time are displayed.

14.4 Keep warm function

After boiling of water or tea the kettle can be kept warm for 60 minutes.

To do this, press the keep warm button (Warmhalten) after you have started the boiling process. The keep warm button (Warmhalten) is illuminated during keep warm process. The time counts until 60:00.

The keep warm temperature depends on chosen temperature.

HINWEIS

Please note

The display turns off after 2 minutes.
- Keep warm function will switch off when you remove the kettle from the base. When the keep warm function is activated again, the 60 minutes will start again.
Press keep warm button (Warmhalten) or ON/OFF button (An/Aus) until illumination turns off to cancel keep warm function.
- If temperature is flashing in the display then the keep warm function is not started, because the current temperature in the kettle is lower than the desired keep warm temperature.

14.5 Auto Start function

Each boiling or brewing process can be started delayed.

Select the desired setting for tea or water boiling. Afterthat press Auto Start button until "Uhrzeit" and "Startzeit" are flashing in the display.

The display shows the current time (Uhrzeit) and autostart time (Startzeit).

Use the buttons for the temperatur to set current time.

Use the buttons for the time to set autostart time.

Then press ON/OFF button (An/Aus) for confirmation. When the autostart time is reached then the boiling and brewing process is started as usual.

HINWEIS

Please note

To switch the autostart function off press Auto Start button or ON/OFF button (An/Aus) until the illumination turns off.
- When you use buttons for temperatur, then the set temperature and brewing time are displayed.
- You can use keep warm function also for Auto start function. To do this press keep warm button (Warmhalten) after confirmation of settings with ON/OFF button (An/Aus).

14.6 Standby Mode

The display turns off after 2 minutes and device switches to standby mode.

To reactivate the device you can press any button.

14.7 Overheating protection

The device is equipped with overheating protection. When the kettle is cooked empty then the device turns off automatically. Let the device cool down before filling it with water again.

15 Cleaning and Maintenance

This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to cleaning and maintaining the device. Please observe the notices to prevent damages due to cleaning the device incorrectly and to ensure trouble-free operation.

15.1 Safety information

Please observe the safety instructions, before cleaning your device.

Unplug the device when not in use and before any cleaning. Let it cool down.
- Never immerse the bottom of the kettle, the base, the cable or plug into water and other liquid and avoid contact of these parts with moisture. Risk of electric shock.
Do not use iron brush, aggressive kitchen cleaners or sharp cleaning tools for cleaning.
Let the kettle with its lid and the tea filter with its lid cool down before cleaning.

15.2 Cleaning

Thoroughly rinse the interior of the kettle with water and let it dry. Remove the tea from the tea filter and rinse it thoroughly under running water.

The exterior of the kettle, the lid and the base can be cleaned with a damp soft cloth. After this dry all components.

15.3 Dscaling

Depending on the hardness of water you should descale the device once every two weeks.
- Remove the tea filter from the kettle.
- Fill the kettle with water and a commercial descaler or add 1 cup of white vinegar into the water.
- Warm up the mixture to 80^ or follow the instructions of the descaler.
- Do not allow the mixture to boil to prevent overcooking.
- Pour the cooled mixture away and thoroughly rinse the interior of the kettle.
- Heat kettle filled with water up to 100^ with water again. Let the water cool down. Then pour it away.
- Repeat the process if necessary.

HINWEIS Please note

Regularly decalcifying of your device will reduce the electricity used and prolong the life of the device.
The guarantee excludes devices which have stopped working or do not work properly due to lack of descending.

16 Disposal of the Old Device

Old electric and electronic devices frequently still contain valuable materials.

However, they also contain damaging substances, which were necessary for their functionality and safety. If these were put in the non-recyclable waste or were handled incorrectly, they could be detrimental to human health and the

environment. Therefore, do not put your old device into the non-recyclable waste under any circumstances.

17 Guarantee

We provide a 24 month guarantee for this product, commencing from the date of sale, for faults which are attributable to production or material faults.

Your legal guarantee entitlements in accordance with 439 ff. BGB-E remain unaffected by this. The guarantee does not include damages, which were incurred as a result of improper handling or use, as well as malfunctions which only have a minor effect on the function or the value of the device. Consumables, transit damages, inasmuch as we are not responsible for these, as well as damages, which were incurred as a result of any repairs that were not performed by us, are also excluded from the guarantee entitlements. This device is designed for use in domestic situations and has the appropriate performance levels. Any use in commercial situations is only covered under the guarantee to the extent that it would be comparable with the stresses of being used in a domestic situation. It is not intended for any additional, commercial use.

In the event of justified complaints, we will repair the faulty device at our discretion or replace it with a trouble-free device. Any pending faults must be reported within 14 days of delivery. All further claims are excluded. To enforce a guarantee claim, please contact us prior to returning the device (always provide us with proof of purchase).
