How to ignite the GASMT1 blow torch?

First, disable the protective lock under the ignition button by pulling it downwards. Slightly open the air intake and fuel supply adjustments. Press the piezoelectric ignition button to produce a spark. The flame ignites; you can maintain it continuously with the 'continuous' button.

How to fill the gas tank?

Make sure the device is turned off and the safety lock is engaged. Close all adjustments. Hold the torch upside down and insert the nozzle of a quality butane cartridge into the filling valve. Press until gas flows. Perform this operation in a well-ventilated area.

What type of gas to use?

Use only high-quality lighter butane gas. Do not use other fuels such as propane or cooking gas, as they could damage the device or cause an accident.

The flame is unstable or too weak, what to do?

Check the gas level in the tank. If necessary, refill it. Adjust the fuel supply and air intake settings to obtain a stable flame. Make sure the nozzle is not clogged. If the problem persists, contact your dealer.

Can I use the torch outdoors?

Yes, but only in a place sheltered from wind and away from combustible materials. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. The flame is barely visible in direct sunlight, be careful.

What are the essential safety precautions?

Work in a well-ventilated area. Wear safety glasses. Never point the flame at people or animals. Keep all flammable materials away. Let the device cool down before storing. Do not puncture or throw the cartridge into fire.

How to extinguish the torch?

Release the ignition button or disable the continuous mode (continuous button). The flame goes out immediately. Check that no residual flame remains.

Can the torch be used by children?

The device can be used by children aged 8 and over under adult supervision, after being trained in its safe use. Cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.

How to maintain the torch?

After each use, let the device cool completely. Clean it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse in water. Regularly check the condition of the nozzle and seals. Store in a cool place (below 50°C) and away from dust.

Children shall not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

Wear sufficient eye protection when using the device.

WARNING: Explosion hazard. Butane gas is highly combustible.

Do not puncture or incinerate gas container.

Only use and refill the burner in a well-ventilated area, away from sparks and/or open flames.

Keep the flame away from combustibles. Never point the flame towards people or animals.

Make sure the flame is extinguished after each use.

Always let the device cool down before storage. Do not store above 50^ (120°F) and avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight.

CAUTION: metal parts become hot during use. Do not touch!

Always handle with care. Do not drop.

Never use a damaged device. Never attempt to modify or repair the device yourself. Refer to an authorized dealer for service and/or spare parts.

3. General Guidelines

• Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.
• All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.
• Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised way will void the warranty.
• Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.

5. Operation

1. Release the safety lock under the ignition button (#4) by pulling it down until it clicks.
2. Set the air adjustment ring (#2) and the gas adjustment valve (#3) halfway between open (+) and closed (-).
3. Press the ignition button (#4) to ignite the GASMT1. You can keep the ignition button pressed to hold the flame, or lock the ignition button with the "continuous" button (#5).
4. Adjust the flame by regulating the gas valve (#3) and the air ring (#2).
5. When finished, press and release the ignition button (#4) to extinguish the flame.

6. Refilling the Gas Tank

1. Make sure the device is not burning and the safety lock (#4) is engaged.
2. Close all taps, valves and adjustment knobs of the device before refilling it.
3. Refill in a well-ventilated area.
4. Refill with decent quality butane gas only.
5. Place the torch upside down.
6. Insert the nozzle of the butane canister into the torch refilling valve.
7. Press the canister down until the gas starts to flow.

All our products fulfil strict quality requirements and legal stipulations in the EU. In order to ensure the quality, our products regularly go through an extra quality check, both by an internal quality department and by specialized external organisations. If, all precautionary measures notwithstanding, problems should occur, please make appeal to our warranty (see guarantee conditions).

General Warranty Conditions Concerning Consumer Products (for EU):

• All consumer products are subject to a 24-month warranty on production flaws and defective material as from the original date of purchase.

• Velleman® can decide to replace an article with an equivalent article, or to refund the retail value totally or partially when the complaint is valid and a free repair or replacement of the article is impossible, or if the expenses are out of proportion.

You will be delivered a replacing article or a refund at the value of 100% of the purchase price in case of a flaw occurred in the first year after the date of purchase and delivery, or a replacing article at 50% of the purchase price or a refund at the value of 50% of the retail value in case of a flaw occurred in the second year after the date of purchase and delivery.

- Not covered by warranty:

• all direct or indirect damage caused after delivery to the article (e.g. by oxidation, shocks, falls, dust, dirt, humidity...), and by the article, as well as its contents (e.g. data loss), compensation for loss of profits;

• consumable goods, parts or accessories that are subject to an aging process during normal use, such as batteries (rechargeable, non-rechargeable, built-in or replaceable), lamps, rubber parts, drive belts... (unlimited list);

• flaws resulting from fire, water damage, lightning, accident, natural disaster, etc....;

• flaws caused deliberately, negligently or resulting from improper handling, negligent maintenance, abusive use or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions;

• damage caused by a commercial, professional or collective use of the article (the warranty validity will be reduced to six (6) months when the article is used professionally);

• damage resulting from an inappropriate packing and shipping of the article;

• all damage caused by modification, repair or alteration performed by a third party without written permission by Velleman®.

• Articles to be repaired must be delivered to your Velleman® dealer, solidly packed (preferably in the original packaging), and be completed with the original receipt of purchase and a clear flaw description.

• Hint: In order to save on cost and time, please reread the manual and check if the flaw is caused by obvious causes prior to presenting the article for repair. Note that returning a non-defective article can also involve handling costs.

• Repairs occurring after warranty expiration are subject to shipping costs.

• The above conditions are without prejudice to all commercial warranties.
