USER MANUAL TAT8612 BOSCH
Please read and follow the operating instructions carefully and keep them for later reference. Enclose these instructions when you give this appliance to someone else.
This appliance is intended for domestic use only.
Danger of electric shock!
Only use the appliance indoors at room temperature and up to 2000 m above sea level. The appliance may only be connected to a power supply with alternating current via a correctly installed socket with earthing. Ensure that the protective conductor system of the domestic supply has been correctly installed.
Connect and operate the appliance only according to the type plate specifications. Do not use if the power cord or appliance show any signs of damage. Unplug after every use or if defective.
To avoid potential hazards, repairs such as replacing a damaged cable must only be carried out by our customer service personnel.
Keep children under 8 years of age away from the appliance and connecting cable and do not allow them to use the appliance.
This appliance may be used by children aged 8 years and older and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or who lack experience and / or knowledge if they are supervised or have been given instruction in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the dangers involved. Children may not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised.
Risk of burns and fire!
Do not place the appliance on or near hot surfaces, e.g. hobs. Avoid spatters of grease as the plastic may be damaged.
A misuse of the appliance can potentially lead to injury.
The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
Do not insert any objects into the toast slot.
Bread can burn. Never operate the toaster near or underneath curtains or other flammable materials. Never cover the toast slot.
Do not touch parts other than the operating controls as the toaster can become hot during toasting.
Press down the push-down lever only for toasting; never block it.
Do not use food that may drip as it is toasted or warmed, since this is a fire hazard.
Unplug the toaster and allow it to cool down before cleaning it.
Never immerse the appliance in water or place it in the dishwasher!
Do not steam-clean the appliance.
Do not use oven or grill spray for cleaning.
Use a firm brush to remove crumbs that may have accumulated under the warming rack.
Remove the crumb tray and wipe it clean.
Only operate the toaster when it is upright. Never leave the toaster unattended while it is in use!

Before using for the first time
Remove any stickers or film. - With the window open, operate the toaster without bread in it at least three times at the highest toasting level setting and let it cool down.
Operation

Important: Do not operate the toaster without the crumb tray 10!
Toasting
Unwind the power cable to the required length and plug it in. Press the ① ON/OFF button; the set toasting level lights up on the toasting level indicator 2, for example |3| or an intermediate level like |315| (=4).

Note: The toaster will remember the selected toasting level (memory function), even if it is turned off, unplugged, or in case of a power failure.
- Place the food to be toasted in the toast slot 7. Press the push-down lever 6 down until it engages. The numbers for the selected toasting level flash. The toaster indicates the elapsed time by illuminating the numbers in the toasting level indicator 2.
- Toasting ends when the food being toasted is raised up.
Note: Push the push-down lever 6 up to remove toasted items more easily.
To end the toasting process prematurely, press the stop button 5.
Tip: If you toast only one slice, set the toasting level lower than for two slices.
Warming cold bread or toast
Use button 3 to set the desired toasting level (warming).
Insert the food being toasted and press the push-down lever 6 down until it engages.
Preparing frozen bread or toast
Use button 3 to set the desired toasting level. Press button 4 defrost. Insert the frozen food to be toasted and press the push-down lever 6 down until it engages.
Using the warming rack
Never place aluminium foil on the warming rack 9!
Only use the warming function when the warming rack 9 is extended.
Never warm and toast at the same time!
Press switch 8 down until it engages. The warming rack 9 extends. Use button 2 to set the desired toasting level, but no higher than level 3. Press the push-down lever 6 down until it engages.
General
Toast items only until they are golden brown and not dark or brown. Remove any burnt edges. Do not over-toast foods containing starch, especially grain and potato products (to reduce the production of acrylamides).
N.B.: If a slice gets stuck, the toaster turns itself off automatically. Pull the power plug and carefully remove the bread after the toaster has cooled down.
Saving energy
Turn the toaster off after use by pressing the ① button in order to conserve energy.
Cleaning and maintenance

Tip: Clean the stainless steel surface with a commercial stainless steel care product.

Before first use
Remove all packaging and protective films. With an open window, switch on the toaster without bread in it and let it heat up at the highest toasting level, then let it cool down.

Important: Do not use the toaster without the crumb tray 10!
Toasting
Before connecting the cable, make sure it is unplugged from the electrical outlet. Press the button to switch on ①; the desired degree of doneness is indicated by the doneness indicator 2, for example |3| or on a medium setting like |315| (=4). → Figure a ■Use button 3 to set the desired degree of doneness.

Note: The selected degree of doneness (memory function) is stored permanently unless the appliance is unplugged or there is a power failure.

Place the food you want to cook in the opening for cooking 7. Press the button 6 down to the lower position for switching on. Select the desired degree of doneness. The cooking time is adjusted automatically, as indicated by the doneness indicator 2. ■Cooking stops when the food is cooked through.
Note: Select a higher setting to cook the food more thoroughly.
To stop the cooking process prematurely, press the stop button 5.
Tip: If cooking only one slice, select a lower degree of doneness than for two slices.
Heating of frozen or cooked bread
■Use button 3 to set the desired degree of doneness (heating). Place the food in the toaster and press the button 6 down to the lower position for switching on.
Defrosting of frozen or cooked bread
■Use button 3 to set the desired degree of doneness. Press the defrost button 4. Place the frozen food in the toaster and press the button 6 down to the lower position for switching on.
Using the warming rack Never place aluminum foil on the warming rack 9!
Use the warming rack function only when the warming rack 9 is unfolded.
Never warm and cook at the same time!
Press the button 8 to switch on. The power supply is connected. The supply for the support is disconnected. ■Use button 2 to set the desired temperature, but not higher than |1|3| (=2). Press the button to confirm the required position for switching on.
Both information
Store the appliance in the toaster, only until it becomes golden brown, not dark or burnt. Remove the burnt crumbs. Do not store food, cheese or other items, especially bread and potato products (to avoid the formation of acrylamide).
Important: If a slice gets stuck, the toaster automatically switches off. Unplug the power cord carefully and remove the bread, then let the toaster cool down.
Power supply
Switch off the toaster after use by pressing button ① to save energy.
Cleaning and maintenance

Tip: Clean the stainless steel surface with a special product for cleaning stainless steel, which you can find in hardware stores.

Disconnect the appliance from the mains and let it cool down completely. Using a soft brush, remove crumbs that have accumulated under the baking tray. Remove the crumb tray and empty it.
The surface of the toaster body can be wiped with a damp cloth; do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaning agents.
Tip: Clean parts made of stainless steel with products for care of stainless steel products available in free sale.
