By purchasing the SilverCrest SEKH 400 A1 egg cooker, hereinafter referred to as egg cooker, you have opted for a high-quality product.

Familiarise yourself with the egg cooker before using it for the first time and read these operating instructions carefully. Observe the safety instructions and only use the egg cooker in the manner described in these operating instructions and for the indicated fields of application.

Keep these operating instructions in a safe place. Hand over all documents in the event that you pass on the egg cooker to a third party.

1. Intended use

This egg cooker is only intended for cooking and heating hens' eggs. The egg cooker is not intended for business or commercial use. Use the egg cooker solely for private purposes; any other use is deemed improper. In addition, the egg cooker must not be used outside of closed rooms or in regions with a tropical climate. This egg cooker meets the requirements of all relevant standards related to CE conformity. Compliance with these standards is no longer guaranteed if a change is made to the egg cooker without the authorisation of the manufacturer. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any damages or faults arising as a result.

Please observe the national regulations and/or laws in the respective country of use.

4. Safety instructions

Before using the egg cooker for the first time, read the following instructions carefully and observe all warnings, even if you are familiar with using electronic devices. Keep these

operating instructions in a safe place for future reference. If you give the egg cooker away or sell it, please ensure that you also pass on these operating instructions. They are part of the product.

DANGER! This icon, together with the word 'Danger', indicates an impending dangerous situation that, if not prevented, can lead to serious injuries or even death.

WARNING! This icon, with the word 'Warning', indicates important information for the safe operation of the device and user safety.

DANGER! Danger, hot surface! This symbol warns against injuries/burns related to the hot surfaces of the egg cooker.

This icon indicates that further information on the topic is available.

Operating environment

The egg cooker is only suitable for use in dry, indoor rooms.

This egg cooker is not designed for operation in rooms with a high temperature, humidity (for example, the bathroom), or excessive dust.

DANGER! This egg cooker is not intended for operation with an external timer or a separate remote control system. Do not leave the egg cooker switched on or unattended. There is a risk of fire!

DANGER! This egg cooker can be used by children aged eight and over, as well as by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or who lack experience and knowledge, provided they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the device and understand the resulting dangers. Children must not play with the egg cooker. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be performed by children, unless they are over eight years of age and supervised. Also keep the packaging film away from children. There is a risk of suffocation.

Children under the age of eight must be kept away from the power cord.

DANGER! If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or smells, switch off the egg cooker immediately and remove the plug from the socket. If this happens, you must stop using the egg cooker until it has been checked by a specialist. Do not inhale smoke possibly caused by a burning device. If you have inhaled smoke, consult a physician. Inhaling smoke can be harmful to your health.

DANGER! Never touch the power cable or egg cooker with wet hands. There is a risk of electric shock.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock! Do not spill liquid onto the device plug connection.

DANGER! The egg cooker must not be covered when in use. There is a risk of fire!

DANGER! Always place the egg cooker on an even, heat-resistant surface and not in the vicinity of heat sources and flammable materials, liquids or gases. Leave at least a 15 cm gap to walls, otherwise there is a risk of fire!

DANGER! In order to avoid hazards, the egg cooker must not become damaged.

DANGER! Make sure there are no naked flames (for example, burning candles) placed on or near the egg cooker. There is a risk of fire!

DANGER! Do not leave the egg cooker unattended while it is in use. Always switch the egg cooker off when it is not in use and disconnect the plug from the socket. Only put the egg cooker away once it has cooled down completely. There is a risk of fire!

DANGER! Caution: Fire hazard! Never place the egg cooker in the vicinity of or beneath flammable materials such as curtains. Keep the device at least 50 cm away from flammable and combustible materials.

DANGER! Risk of injury! Use the egg cooker as intended. Misuse of the device may result in injury.

DANGER! Risk of injury! Take care when using the measuring cup (6). There is an egg piercer (7) on the bottom of the measuring cup (6).

DANGER! Risk of burn injuries! The temperature of the contactable surfaces can get very hot when the egg cooker is in operation. Furthermore, hot steam escapes from the lid (1) during operation. Hot steam can also escape when you remove the lid (1). Only touch the lid (1) and the egg holder (2) by the handles.

DANGER! Risk of burn injuries! The temperature of the contactable surfaces and heating tray can be very hot after use. Let the egg cooker cool down fully before you touch it.

WARNING! The egg cooker must not be exposed to direct sources of heat (for example, heaters), direct sunlight or strong artificial light. Also avoid contact with splashing and dripping water as well as aggressive liquids. Do not operate the egg cooker in the vicinity of water. In p the egg cooker must never be immersed (do not place any objects filled with liquids, for example vases or drinks, on the egg cooker). Also make sure that the egg cooker is not exposed to excessive shocks and vibrations.

Furthermore, no foreign bodies should penetrate into the device. This could damage the egg cooker.

Power cord

DANGER! Always take hold of the power cord by the plug and do not pull on the cord itself.
DANGER! Ensure that the power cord does not come into contact with any of the hot surfaces of the egg cooker.
DANGER! Do not use an adapter plug or extension cord that does not meet the relevant safety standards and do not perform any procedures on the power cord yourself. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, by their service department or by a similarly qualified person in order to avoid hazards.
WARNING! Do not place the egg cooker, any items of furniture or other heavy objects on the power cord. Make sure that the cord is not bent.
WARNING! Never make a knot in the power cable and do not connect it with other

cables. The power cable should be laid in such a way that no one steps on it or is obstructed by it.

6. Before initial use

Remove the egg cooker and all the accessories from the packaging. Remove all packaging materials and check all parts for completeness and for signs of damage. If any parts are missing or damaged, please contact the manufacturer.

Before using for the first time, clean the egg cooker and accessories as described in the 'Cleaning' section.

7. Initial use

DANGER! Place the egg cooker on a level, heat-resistant surface. If the surface is sensitive to heat, put a heat-resistant plate underneath the egg cooker.

DANGER! Risk of burn injuries! The temperature of the contactable surfaces can get very hot when it's in operation.

• Unwind the power cable from the cable rewind (5) on the underside of the egg cooker. Then guide the power cord through the recess on the back.
• Plug the connector into a power socket, which is always easily accessible.

7.1 Cooking eggs

• Fill the measuring cup (6) with the required amount of water. The amount of water depends on how hard you want the eggs to be and on how many eggs you are cooking. Observe the scale and symbols on the measuring cup (6) when doing this.

• Now pour the water from the measuring cup (6) into the heating tray (3).
• Place the egg holder (2) onto the heating tray (3).
• Using the egg piercer (7), insert a hole in the large end of the eggs to prevent them from bursting.
• Place the eggs into the egg tray with the pointed ends of the eggs facing downwards (2).
• Place the lid (1) onto the egg holder (2).
• Press the operating switch (4) on the left-hand side. The control light in the operating switch (4) lights up during operation.
• As soon as the eggs are ready, the egg cooker will beep.
• Press the operating switch (4) into the centre position to switch off the egg cooker. The control light in the operating switch (4) will disappear.

• Carefully remove the lid (1) facing away from you and let the steam escape to the back.
  Take out the egg holder (2). Ensure to use the handles when doing so.

• run the eggs under cold, running water to prevent them from cooking further.

• Clean the egg cooker as described in the 'Cleaning' section.

The amount of water required also depends on the size of the eggs. If the eggs were not as hard or as soft as required, you will need to deviate from the scale on the measuring cup (6) and fill with slightly less or more water.

If the egg is too hard, you need to use less water. Fill the measuring cup (6) with approximately one or two line measures less of water.

If the egg is too soft, you need to use more water. Fill the measuring cup (6) with approximately one or two line measures more of water.

7.2 Keeping eggs warm

Use the keep-warm function for hard-boiled eggs only.

Do not pour water into the heating tray (3) to keep eggs warm.

After cooking, press the operating switch (4) on the right-hand side to keep the eggs warm. The control light in the operating switch (4) lights up during operation.
- End the keep-warm function by pressing the operating switch (4) into the centre position. The control light in the operating switch (4) will disappear.

8. Maintenance/cleaning

8.1 Maintenance

DANGER! Maintenance work is required if the egg cooker has been damaged, liquids or objects have got inside the device, the egg cooker has been exposed to rain or moisture or if the egg cooker is not

functioning properly or has been dropped. If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or smells, switch off the egg cooker immediately and remove the plug from the socket. If this happens, you must stop using the egg cooker until it has been checked by a specialist. All maintenance work should only be carried out by qualified specialists. Never open the housing of the egg cooker.

8.2 Cleaning

DANGER! Remove the plug from the socket before cleaning. There is a risk of electric shock.

DANGER! Wait until the egg cooker has cooled down. Otherwise, there is a risk of burn injuries.

DANGER! The egg cooker may not be immersed in water; there is a risk of electric shock!

To clean the housing, use a slightly damp cloth and never use solvents or cleaning agents that react with plastics. Use some washing up-liquid on the damp cloth for stubborn stains.

You can clean the lid (1), egg holder (2) and measuring cup (6) in a basin. Once cleaned, dry all the parts well.

8.3 Descaling

Limescale may build up in the heating tray (3) over time. This can lead to loss of energy and shorten the egg cooker's service life. You should therefore remove the limescale as soon as it becomes visible.

• Use a descending agent that is used for coffee machines and other household devices. Proceed as described in the instructions for the descending agent.
• Rinse the heating tray (3) several times with plenty of clear water after descending it.

9. Storing the device when not in use

Disconnect the plug from the socket when you are not using the egg cooker. Wrap the power cable onto the cable rewind (5) underneath the egg cooker. Please make sure that the egg cooker is stored in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight.

10. Troubleshooting

The egg cooker is not working

• Check whether the power connector is plugged into the power socket correctly.

The eggs are too hard

• Use approximately one or two line measures less of water.

The eggs are too soft

Use approximately one or two line measures more of water.

11. Environmental and waste disposal information

Devices marked with this symbol are subject to the European Directive 2012/19/EU. Electrical and electronic devices may not be put in the household waste, but must be disposed of via designated public disposal centres. By properly disposing of the old device, you can avoid environmental damage and hazards to health. Further information regarding proper disposal of the old device can be obtained from your local authority or the shop where you purchased the device.

Make sure the packaging is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Cardboard packaging can be put out for waste-paper collection or taken to public collection points for recycling. The plastic packaging used for your device is collected by your local waste management company and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.

Please pay attention to the labels on packaging materials when you separate waste; these are marked with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) that mean the following:

12. Food contact authenticity

This icon indicates products that have been tested in relation to their physical and chemical composition and that in accordance with EG 1935/2004 have been regarded as harmless to health in terms of contact with foodstuffs.

14. Notes on guarantee and service

Warranty of TARGA GmbH

Dear Customer,

This device is sold with three years warranty from the date of purchase. In the event of product defects, you have legal rights towards the seller.

These statutory rights are not restricted by our warranty as described below.

Warranty conditions

The warranty period commences upon the date of purchase. Please keep the original receipt in a safe place as it is required as proof of purchase. If any material or manufacturing faults occur within three years of purchase of this product, we will repair or replace the product free of charge as we deem appropriate.

Warranty period and legal warranty rights

The warranty period is not extended in the event of a warranty claim. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damage or defects discovered upon purchase must be reported immediately when the product has been unpacked. Any repairs required after the warranty period will be subject to charge.

Scope of warranty

The device was carefully manufactured in compliance with stringent quality guidelines and subjected to thorough testing before it left the works. The warranty applies to material and manufacturing faults. This warranty does not cover product components which are subject to normal wear and which can therefore be regarded as wearing parts, or damage to fragile components such as switches, rechargeable batteries or components made of glass. This warranty is void if the product is damaged, incorrectly used or serviced. To ensure correct use of the product, always comply fully with all instructions contained in the user manual. The warnings and recommendations in the user manual regarding correct and incorrect use and handling of the product must always be observed and complied with. The product is solely designed for private use and is not suitable for commercial applications. The warranty is rendered void in the event of incorrect handling and misuse, if it is subjected to force, and also if any person other than our authorised service technicians interfere with the device. No new warranty period commences if the product is repaired or replaced.
