SHTK 2000 B1 Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance. You have clearly decided in favour of a quality product. These operating instruc- tions are a part of this product. They contain important information in regard to safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of these operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and only for the specifi ed areas of application. Retain these instructions for future reference. In addition, pass these documents on, together with the product, to any future owner. Copyright This documentation is copyright protected. Intended use This hair dryer is intended only for the drying and shaping of human hair, under no circumstances is it to be used for wigs and hairpieces made of synthetic material. This hair dryer is intended for domestic use only. Pay heed to all of the information in this operating manual, especially the safety instructions. This appliance is not designed for use in commercial or industrial applications. This appliance is not intended for any other use or for uses beyond those men- tioned herein. RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

► Connect the hair dryer only to a correctly installed mains power socket providing electrical energy at the level detailed on the rating plate. ► Under no circumstances may the hair dryer be submerged in fl uids, or fl uids be permitted to enter the appliance housing. Do not expose the appliance to humidity and do not use it outdoors. Should liquids enter the housing, disconnect the appliance from the power source immediately and arrange for it to be repaired by a qualifi ed technician. ► Disconnect the hair dryer from the mains power socket if defective operation is apparent and before cleaning it. ► To disconnect it, pull only on the plug itself, not on the power cable. ► Do not wrap the power cable around the appliance and protect the cable from being damaged. ► Should the power cable of the appliance be damaged, to avoid potential risks it must be replaced by the manufacturer, his customer service or by a qualifi ed technician. ► Do not kink or crush the power cable and lay it in such a way as to prevent people from stepping on or tripping over it. ► Do not use extension cables. ► Never touch the hair dryer, the power cable or the plug with wet hands. ► Disconnect the hair dryer from the power source immediately after use. The appliance is completely free of electrical power only when you unplug it. ► You are not permitted to open or repair the housing of the hair dryer. Should you do so, appliance safety can no longer be as- sured and the warranty will become void. Arrange for the hair dryer to be serviced and repaired only by qualifi ed specialists.25

Never use the appliance near water, parti-cularly not near sinks, baths or other v essels. The proximity of water presents a risk, even when the appliance is switched off . After use, always disconnect the plug from the mains power socket. As additional protection, the installation of a faulty-current protection unit with an activation power rating of not more than 30 mA is recom- mended for the power circuit in the bathroom. Consult your electrician for advice. WARNING! RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY! ► This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental ca- pabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. ► Children shall not play with the appliance. ► Cleaning and user maintenance tasks shall not be carried out by children unless they are supervised. ► When it is switched on, NEVER lay the hair dryer down or leave it unsupervised. ► Never place the hair dryer close to sources of heat and protect the power cable against potential damage. ► Do not take the hair dryer into use if it has fallen down or is dam- aged in any way. Arrange for the appliance to be checked and/ or repaired by qualifi ed technicians. ► Do not cover the air intake grill while operating the appliance. Clean the grill at regular intervals. ► The hair dryer becomes hot when it is in use. Hold it only by the grip when it is hot.26

DAMAGE TO PROPERTY! ► Never pull the power cord out of the device beyond the point indicated with a red mark. ► Always pull the power cord out of the device up to the point indicated with a red mark when you use the device. Otherwise it could overheat! Operation NOTE ► Before use, pull the plug out of the device up to the point indicated with a red mark! Heat and blower levels

1) Insert the plug into a power socket.

2) Switch the hair dryer on with the blower level switch 5.

The hair dryer is fi tted with two function switches. With these you can separately select the strength of the air fl ow (blower level switch 5) and the level of heat (heat level switch 6): Blower levels O The hair dryer is switched off reduced air fl ow full power air fl ow Heat levels cold air fl ow low heating level high heating level

3) After use, switch the appliance off in that you place the blower level switch 5

into position “O”. Then remove the plug from the wall socket.

4) Press the cord retract button 2 to feed the cord back into the device.27

SHTK 2000 B1 Cooling level With the cooling level button 7 you can produce a cooler air fl ow with every combination of blower and heat levels. Ionisation function This hair dryer is equipped with an ionising function:When drying the hair using a hair dryer, the hair takes on a static charge and begins to “fl y”. The ionisation function ensures that this charging of the hair is neutralised and cancelled. The hair becomes soft, supple, shiny and easier to style. Drying and styling hair ■ For quick hair drying, we fi rst recommend using a high blower and heater setting for a short period. After slightly drying the hair, switch to a lower blower and heater level to shape the hair. ■ With the supplied styling jet 1 you can apply a dir ected airfl ow to shape and style your hair. Place the styling jet 1 on the front of the hair dryer such that it engages and is seated fi rmly into place. ■ If you want to dry your hair very gently, or use the dryer with so-called “air-dried perms”, attach the fi nger diff user 8. First remove the styling jet 1, if it is fi tted, and then attach the fi nger diff usor 8, such that it engages and is seated fi rmly into place. ■ Before you comb your hair out, allow it to cool so that the shaping and styling can retain its form. ■ For cooling the hair you can use the cooling level button 7

or level of the heat level switch 6. Cleaning RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK ► Always remove the mains plug from the socket before you clean the appliance. ► Under no circumstances may you immerse the appliance in water or other liquids when cleaning it! ► After being cleaned, the hair dryer must be completely dry before using it again. WARNING - RISK OF PHYSICAL INJURY! ► Allow the appliance to cool suffi ciently before cleaning it.28

Do not use any aggressive cleaning liquids or solvents. They could damage the surface. Cleaning the housing ■ Use a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild soap solution to clean the housing and attachments. ■ Please dry everything off properly before using the appliance again. Cleaning the air suction grill WARNING - RISK OF FIRE! ► Clean the air intake grill 3 at regular inter vals with a soft brush.

Storage CAUTION - PROPERTY DAMAGE! ► First pack and transport the hair dryer when it has completely cooled down. Other wise, it could damage other items. ■ Clean the hair dryer as described in the section “Cleaning”. ■ Retract the cord by pressing the cord retract button 2. ■ Store the hair dryer at a dustfree and dry location. Troubleshooting Should your hair dryer not function as expected, fi rst remove the plug from the mains power socket and allow the appliance to cool down for a few minutes. The appliance is fi tted with an overheating protector! Should the appliance still not function, consult the service department detailed under “Service”.29

Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your com- munity waste facility.Pay heed to the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre. Warranty A 3-year warranty is given with this device, starting from the date of purchase. The appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our service department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured. NOTICE ► The warranty covers only claims for material and manufacturing defects, it is not applicable for transpor t damages, parts subject to wear and tear or for damage to fragile components, e.g. switches.
