Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your new device. In doing so you have chosen a top-quality product. Please familiarise yourself with the appliance before preparing it for use and using it for the first time. To do so, please carefully read the following operating instructions and the important safety information. Use the product only as described and for the indicated purpose. Keep these instructions in a safe place. If you pass the product on to anyone else, please ensure that you also pass on all the documentation.
Intended use
The glass kettle is only suitable for heating water. This device is not intended for commercial use in kitchens for employees, in shops, offices, or other commercial areas, and is not intended for customers of hotels, motels and other residences, or bed-and-breakfast inns, but only for domestic household use. Any other use or modification of the device is considered improper and is prohibited on principle. We assume no liability for damages due to improper use or incorrect operation. Any claims for damages arising from improper use, improper repairs, tampering, or the use of spare parts which are not approved, are excluded. This user bears all risk.

General Safety Information
This device may be used by children age 8 years and up so long as they are supervised or instructed in the safe use of the device and understand the associated risks.
Never allow children to perform cleaning and maintenance unless they are 8 years of age or older and being supervised.
Keep the device and its connection line away from children under 8 years of age.
This device may be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or lacking experience and / or knowledge, so long as they are supervised or instructed in the safe use of the device and understand the associated risks. Do not allow children to play with the device.
In the event the mains cable is damaged it must be replaced by a specialist workshop specified by the manufacturer to prevent risks of injury and accidents, as well as damage to the device.

Never immerse the device in water and do not use outdoors, as it must
not be exposed to rain or other moisture!
Always unplug when the device is not in use and before cleaning or in the event of malfunction!

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! In the event the device falls into water, first unplug from the mains, then remove it from the water! Do not operate the device after said incident and first have it inspected by an approved service address. This also applies if a mains cable or the device becomes damaged or the device has been dropped!
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Careful, never place the mains cable or the device on hot surfaces or near sources of heat. Run the mains cable so it does not come into contact with hot or sharp-edged objects!
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Never kink the mains cable and do not wrap it around the device, as this may cause a cable break!
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Do not use the device whilst standing on moist floor or if your hands or the device are wet!
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Never open the device and never attempt to insert metal objects into the device!
RISK OF SUFFOCATION! Keep packaging film away from children!
ELECTRIC APPLIANCES ARE NOT A TOY!
Therefore use and store the device out of the reach of children. Children are not aware of the dangers associated with handling electric appliances. Do not allow the mains cable to dangle to prevent it from being pulled on.
Repairs must be performed by approved specialist workshops. Improperly repaired devices may be dangerous for the user.
Always connect the device to a properly installed safety socket with a mains voltage matching the type plate.
Do not operate the device unattended to prevent accidents.
Safety notices specific to the device
WARNING! RISK OF BURNS! Always touch the electric kettle by the handle 2. Operating electric heating devices generate high temperatures which may result in hazards, e.g. boiling water, hot steam, and a hot housing! Also instruct other users of the hazards!
WARNING! RISK OF BURNS! Only operate the water kettle with the filter cartridge installed. This prevents water from splattering whilst boiling.
WARNING! RISK OF BURNS! Never open the safety lid 8 with the water boiling.
WARNING! Do not operate the device below wall cupboards or similar items, the steam released may damage your furniture.
WARNING! RISK OF BURNS! Allow the device to cool down completely before cleaning and storing it.
Only operate the device with the included base station 4. To prevent dangerous situations, only add water whilst the device is on the base station!
To prevent hazards, never operate the device with water or with the safety lid 8 open.
Be sure never to operate an over- or underfilled glass kettle. The amount of water added must not be below the MIN mark in the level indicator 6 or above the MAX mark. Boiling water may spurt if overfilled.
Only add clean water to the glass kettle. The device is not suitable for heating other liquids, e.g. milk or coffee. The material may be permanently damaged.
The glass kettle features a safety function which switches it off automatically if accidentally operated empty. In this case allow the glass kettle to cool down before reusing.
Only heat the water in the device once! Empty all water from the device after boiling. Do not allow water to sit in the device to prevent stagnant water, calcium deposits, and algae formation.
The device is not intended for use with an external time switch or a separate telecontrol system.

Before use/Start-up

Before use
To prevent hazards, verify the device, the mains plug and the mains cable are complete and in good condition after unpacking to eliminate any damage.
Your glass kettle is packaged to protect it from transport damage.
Carefully remove the device from the retail pack.
Remove all packaging.
Completely unwrap the mains cable.
Remove any residual packaging dust from the device and all accessories as specified in chapter "Cleaning and Care".
Set up the glass kettle near a protective ground socket, ensuring it is freely accessible.
Furniture is now coated with a variety of paints and plastics, and is treated with the most diverse of cleaners. It is therefore impossible to preclude some of these substances may contain components which would affect and soften the rubber feet of the housing.
If necessary, place a non-slip, heat resistant pad under the glass kettle.
Please the base station on a suitable surface.
Connect the device to the protective ground socket.
Please boil water 2-3 times prior to first use.
To do so, fill the water reservoir to the MAX mark.
Pour out the water after each use and rinse the water reservoir with clean water.
Always allow the water reservoir to cool to room temperature between cycles.

Start-up

Filling the glass kettle
Remove the water reservoir from the base station 4 to fill.
Open the safety by pressing the lid release push button 1.
Add water to the water reservoir. Be sure not to fill below "MIN" or above the "MAX" level of the level indicator
WARNING! Only use fresh potable water. Do not ingest water not identified as potable water. There otherwise is a risk of damage to the health!
WARNING! RISK OF BURNS! Adding too much water to the device poses a risk of boiling over. This can result in burns!
Close the safety id.
Note: The automatic shut-off will not work if the safety lid 8 is not closed correctly.

Placing the glass kettle on the centre contact station
Your glass kettle features a practical centre contact station. This means you may align the water reservoir in any direction without observing the accuracy of fit.
Place the water reservoir on the base station 4.
Now connect the base statio to the mains.

Boiling water
Note: The ON / OFF switch can only be used if the device is on the base station.
Press the ON/OFF switch down in the position "I". The device is switched on. It will now start heating. Once the water is boiling the auto shut-off will switch the device off. The shut-off time depends on the amount of water added. Note: Based on the function of the device, a few drops of condensation may escape from the discharge openings at the bottom of the device at the end of the boiling cycle. This is not a sign the device is leaking but is due to the auto shut-off and does not affect safety.
Safety ON/OFF switch
Note: Your device features a special safety ON / OFF switch 3 ("lift-off switch-off"). Removing the water reservoir 5 from the base station 4 will trip the ON/OFF switch 3 up and the device will automatically switch off.
To use again, return the water reservoir to the base station 4 and push the ON/OFF switch 3 down into the "I" position.
Note: If you do not push the ON / OFF switch 3 down again, the device will remain off, even with the water reservoir 5 on the base station 4.
Overheating protection
Your glass kettle features an overheating protection which will automatically switch the device off when automatically used empty or with an insufficient amount of water.
If the overheat protection is triggered, proceed as follows:
Unplug from the protective ground socket and allow the device to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, it can be used again.
Manually interrupting the boiling cycle
Slide the ON/OFF switch upward to the "0" position.
Pouring water
Remove the water reservoir from the base station 4 to pour. Opening the safety lid 8 is not required.
Pour the hot water through the pouring spout into the designated vessel. Before boiling again, allow the device to first cool to room temperature.
- Cleaning and Care
Always unplug from the mains before cleaning and allow the device to cool completely before cleaning and storing!
Never immerse the base station and water reservoir in water. This poses a risk of burns or electric shock!
Do not use caustic cleaners and abrasives or scouring pads, as this may cause damage the device beyond repair.
- Cleaning the water kettle
Clean all exterior surfaces and the mains cable with a slightly dampened dishcloth. Always dry the device well before using it again. For stubborn soiling use a mild detergent on the cloth. Ensure there is no washing-up liquid residue on and inside the device before using it again.
Rinse the inside of the water reservoir with clean water.
Remove deposits inside the water reservoir by wiping the inside surface with a damp cloth, or use a washing-up or bottle brush. Then rinse the water reservoir 5 with clean water again.
- Cleaning the filter cartridge
The filter cartridge is removable for enhanced cleaning.
Remove the filter cartridge upward at the release tab.
Clean the filter cartridge with some citric acid or lime dissolver suitable for food containers from a homeware shop (e.g. coffee maker cleaner).
Rinse the filter cartridge well with water.
Please carefully slide the filter cartridge downward along the designated guide groove.
- Descaling the glass kettle
Note: Severely scaled devices can result in the device automatically switching off early and energy loss.

Therefore regularly descale the glass kettle (varies by lime content in the water and frequency of use). Only use citric acid or lime dissolver suitable for food containers from a houseware shop (e.g. coffee maker cleaner), do not use acetic acid or other acids.
Fill the water reservoir with water and heat to a simmer.
Add some citric acid or lime dissolver suitable for food containers from a housewares shop (e.g. coffee maker cleaner).
Unplug from the protective ground socket. Lime-cleaned, proceed as follows:
scale will dissolve as the water cools.
Occasionally swivel the water reserv
Repeat the process for thick layers of limescale.
Note: Dscaling may be interrupted, even if some limescale remains. Dscaling down to the bare metal surface is not required.
After descending, simmer 2-3 fillings of fresh water and discard the water.
