about the power supply

• Before connecting the device to your power supply, please ensure that the supply voltage stated on the rating plate is compatible with your mains supply.
• Only connect the mains plug to the wall socket when the device is switched off.
• Do not operate this unit near high frequency electromagnetic sources.
• Keep the power cord and the device itself away from heat, hot surfaces, damp and liquids. Avoid touching the plug or power switch with wet or even damp hands, or when you are standing in water.
• Parts that conduct electricity on the device must not come into contact with liquid.
• If the device falls into water, do not try to pick it up. Instead pull the plug out immediately.
• Always make sure that the plug is easily accessible when the device is connected.
• Disconnect the plug from the socket immediately after using the device.

2.1 Items supplied and packaging

Please check first of all that the device is complete and is not damaged in any way. In case of doubt, do not use the appliance and contact your supplier or your service centre.

The packaging can be reused or recycled. Please dispose properly of any packaging material no longer required. If you notice any transport damage during unpacking, please contact your supplier without delay.

3 Operating

3.1 The use of the tapping massage seat cover will improve your well-being after a stressful day. The massage effect is particularly useful for tense muscles and tired tissue. The unit provides pleasant relaxation for overcoming everyday stress.

3.2 Start-up

Operation

• Place the massage seat cover on a high chair or armchair and attach it to this by means of the fasteners on the back.
• Insert plug into the mains socket. Ensure that the power supply is easily accessible.
• Take a seat on the tapping massage seat cover and familiarise yourself with the functions.

Operating the unit

The MC 818 tapping massage seat cover has two functions for an effective massage: tapping massage and heat. The heat function can only be used together with the tapping massage. Do not use the unit for more than 15 minutes at a time. Depending on the timer adjustment, the unit will switch off automatically after max. approx. 15 minutes. Always allow the unit to cool down fully before you use it again.

3.2

Operation

Use the buttons on control pad to operate the massage seat cover:

• Switch on the device by pressing On/Off button ⑤. The power LED illuminates.
• When the "Upper Back" massage button ⑦ is pressed, the LED next to the button illuminates and the tapping massage heads ② move from the "Park" position at the base of the backrest, up to the shoulder area, massaging and relaxing the back with tapping whilst doing so. Once the uppermost position has been reached, the direction the massaging heads is reversed. The heads then travel down to the centre of the back. Once the heads reach this point, the direction is reversed again and then travel up the back again. If you press button ⑦ during the massage, this function is switched off and the massage heads remain stationary in their current position.
• If you press the "Lower Back" massage button 8, the LED next to the button illuminates. The tapping massage heads 2 travel up and down the lower half of the back. The reversal of the direction takes place when the respective end positions are reached. Pressing button 8 during the massage, switches off this function and the massage heads remain stationary in their current position.
• If you press the "Full Back" massage button ⑥ the function procedure is similar to pressing buttons ⑦ and ⑧, except that it is for the entire back.
• You can choose the intensity of the tapping massage at any time by pressing the button ①. At start massage is performed with medium intensity and level indicator LED "M" above the button lights up. Press button ⑩ and the level increases (highest intensity massage LED "H"). Press button again and the lowest intensity level (low intensity massage, LED "L") is switched on.
• The heat function can be activated at any time with the tapping massage, during which the vibration massage can also be activated. Press the heat button to activate the function; the LED lights up. The heat is radiated through the massage heads. Press the button again to de-activate the heat function; the LED goes out.
• Press the SPOT button ⑫, the massage heads will stay at their current position and perform the tapping massage until you press button ⑫ again.

3.2 Operation

• Press the button 10 to adjust the automatic switch off timer (5, 10 or 15 minutes).
• To switch off the device: Press the On/Off button ⑤. The power LED begins to flash and the massage heads travel back down to the "Park" position. When this position is reached, the LED extinguishes. If you press the On/Off button ⑤ when one of the massage functions is switched on, the heat function just stops immediately. Tapping massage will still be performed while the massage heads travel downwards to the "Park" position. The power LED flashes meanwhile and then extinguishes.
• After each use, switch the device off using the On/Off switch and remove the plug from the mains socket.

4 Miscellaneous

4.1 Cleaning and maintenance

• Before cleaning the device, make sure that it is turned off and the mains plug is removed from the socket. Allow the unit to cool down.
• Only clean the Tapping massage seat cover with a soft cloth slightly dampened with a mild detergent (e.g. soap suds). Under no circumstances should you use aggressive detergents, strong brushes, solvents or alcohol.
• When cleaning, never immerse the unit in water and make sure that no water gets into the unit.
• Wait until the device is completely dry before using it again.
• Undo any kinks in the cable.
• You should ideally store the device in its original packaging and keep it in a clean, dry place.

4.2 Disposal

This product must not be disposed of together with domestic waste.

All users are obliged to hand in all electrical or electronic devices, regardless of whether or not they contain toxic substances, at a municipal or commercial collection point so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner.

Consult your municipal authority or your dealer for information about disposal.

Warranty and repair terms

Please contact your supplier or the service centre in case of a claim under the warranty. If you have to return the unit, please enclose a copy of your receipt and state what the defect is.

The following warranty terms apply:

1. The warranty period for MEDISANA products is three years from date of purchase. In case of a warranty claim, the date of purchase has to be proven by means of the sales receipt or invoice.
2. Defects in material or workmanship will be corrected free of charge within the warranty period.
3. Repairs under warranty do not extend the warranty period either for the unit or for the replacement parts.
4. The following is excluded under the warranty:

a. All damage which has arisen due to improper treatment, e.g. non-observation of the user instructions.
b. All damage which is due to repairs or tampering by the customer or unauthorised third parties.
c. Damage which has arisen during transport from the manufacturer to the consumer or during transport to the service centre.
d. Accessories which are subject to normal wear and tear.

1. Liability for direct or indirect consequential losses caused by the unit are excluded even if the damage to the unit is accepted as a warranty claim.
