The raclette grill is not intended to be operated with an external time switch or a separate remote control system. Never leave the raclette grill unattended when it is switched on. It poses a fire hazard! This device can be used by children aged 8 and older and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the device and understand the resulting risks. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.SilverCrest SRGS 1400 A1

Always keep plastic packaging away from children. It poses a suffocation risk. Children who are younger than 8 years of age must be kept away from the device and its mains cable (4). If smoke is produced, or there are any unusual sounds or smells, switch off the raclette grill immediately and remove the mains plug from the mains socket. In such cases, the raclette grill must not be used until it has been inspected by authorised service personnel. Never inhale smoke from a potential device fire. If you have inhaled smoke, however, consult a doctor. The inhalation of smoke can be harmful. Never touch the mains cable (4) and the raclette grill with wet hands because there is a risk of an electric shock! Do not use the raclette grill with charcoal or other fuels. It poses a fire hazard! Always place the raclette grill on a flat, heat-resistant surface and not in the vicinity of heat sources and flammable materials, liquids or gases. Leave at least 30cm clearance from walls because there is a risk of fire otherwise! The raclette grill must not become damaged in order to prevent hazards. Ensure that no fire sources (e.g. burning candles) are placed on or near the raclette grill. It poses a fire hazard! If grease ignites on the raclette grill, never extinguish it with water! There is a risk of explosive deflagration. Extinguish it instead with, for example, a fire blanket that will smother the fire.SilverCrest SRGS 1400 A1 English - 7 Do not leave the raclette grill unattended when it is operating. Always switch off the raclette grill when it is not in use and remove the mains plug from the socket. Put away the raclette grill only when it has completely cooled down. It poses a fire hazard!

Warning: Fire hazard! Never use the raclette grill in the

vicinity of flammable materials such as curtains, drapes, etc. The raclette grill must never be exposed to any direct heat sources (for example, heaters) or direct sunlight or bright artificial light. Also avoid contact with dripping water and splashes and corrosive liquids. Do not use the raclette grill near water. In particular, the raclette grill should never be submerged in liquid (do not place any items filled with liquid, e.g. vases or drinks, on the raclette grill). Also ensure that the raclette grill is never subjected to excessive shocks and vibrations. Furthermore, no foreign objects may penetrate the device. Otherwise, the raclette grill could be damaged. Mains cable Always handle the mains cable (4) by the plug and do not pull on the mains cable (4) itself. Do not place the raclette grill, furniture or other heavy objects on the mains cable (4) and ensure that it is not kinked. Never tie a knot in the mains cable (4) and do not tie cables together. Ensure that the mains cable (4) is placed so that no one can trip over it and it does not cause an obstruction.SilverCrest SRGS 1400 A1

Make sure that the mains cable (4) does not touch any hot surfaces of the raclette grill. Do not use adapter plugs or extension cables that do not comply with applicable safety standards, and do not make any alterations to the mains cable (4)! If the mains cable (4) is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its customer service representative or a similarly qualified person to prevent any safety hazards.

Check the raclette grill for signs of damage. If damaged, the raclette grill must not be used. Place the raclette grill on a flat, heat-resistant surface. If the surface is sensitive, place a heat-resistant board under the raclette grill. DANGER! There is a risk of burns! The temperature of the accessible surfaces may be very high when the device is operating. Do not touch the grill base (7), grill plate (1) or stone plate (2) to prevent injury. If necessary, use oven gloves to prevent burns due to grease splashes. Never transport the raclette grill during operation. Never operate the raclette grill without the grill plate (1) and stone plate (2) placed on top of it. Otherwise, the burning heating elements are exposed and may cause severe burns on contact. Clean the raclette grill as described in the section "Cleaning". Lightly grease the grill plate (1) with suitable grease, margarine or oil. This enables production- related residue to be removed more easily. Then insert the mains plug into a socket that is always easily accessible. Turn the thermostat (3) towards "MAX". The thermostat indicator light (5) lights up red. Heat the raclette grill until the thermostat indicator light (5) goes out, thus indicating that the temperature has been reached. When the thermostat (3) is at "MAX", the heating goes into continuous operating mode and the thermostat indicator light (5) lights up continually. When using the device for the first time, production-related residue may give rise to a slight odour and minor smoke emission is also possible. This is normal and will fade after a short time. Please ensure that there is sufficient ventilation. Open a window if necessary. After approximately 15 minutes, turn the thermostat (3) to "0" in order to switch off the raclette grill. Now disconnect the mains plug from the socket and let the raclette grill cool down. Then clean the raclette grill again as described in the section "Cleaning".

First use Place the raclette grill on a flat, heat-resistant surface. If the surface is sensitive, place a heat-resistant board under the raclette grill.SilverCrest SRGS 1400 A1

DANGER! There is a risk of burns! The temperature of the accessible surfaces may be very high when the device is operating. Only touch the handles (6) or the thermostat (3) of the raclette grill. Never use metallic objects to remove or turn food that you are grilling as they can damage the coating of the grill plate (1). Use a heat-resistant plastic or wooden spatula instead. Place the food to be grilled directly on the grill plate (1) or on the stone plate (2). Never use tin foil, a dish or anything similar. Preparing the raclette grill Set the thermostat (3) to "0" to switch off the heating. Lightly oil the inside of the raclette pans (8). Here, a thin film of oil is sufficient and can be applied with a food or pastry brush that is lightly coated in oil. Lightly oil the top of the grill plate (1) and the stone plate (2) in the same manner. Do not use too much oil in order to avoid burning. Note: When inserting the stone plate (2), it is important to note that the surrounding grease drip tray must face upwards. In contrast, the grill plate (1) can be used on both sides. Select the smooth or grooved side as required. Insert the mains plug into a socket that is always easily accessible. Turn the thermostat (3) clockwise towards "MAX". The thermostat indicator light (5) lights up red and the device heats up. The raclette grill and the grill plate (1) are ready to use as soon as the thermostat indicator light (5) goes out. When the thermostat (3) is at "MAX", the heating goes into continuous operating mode and the thermostat indicator light (5) lights up continually. Please note that the stone plate (2) requires approximately 30 minutes to become hot enough to be used for grilling.SilverCrest SRGS 1400 A1 English - 11 Switching on the device The raclette grill is switched on by turning the thermostat (3) clockwise from "0" to "MAX" until the thermostat indicator light (5) lights up red. The device now heats up until the operating temperature is reached. The thermostat indicator light (5) then goes out. When the thermostat (3) is at "MAX", the heating goes into continuous operating mode and the thermostat indicator light (5) lights up continually. Regulating the temperature The ideal temperature of the grill depends on the food that you want to cook. If the cooking seems to be taking too long and you think that the temperature is too low, turn the thermostat (3) further clockwise towards "MAX". The raclette grill tries to keep the set temperature relatively constant. For this reason, the thermostat (3) repeatedly switches the heating on and off and thus also the thermostat indicator light (5). If the temperature seems too high, turn the thermostat (3) slightly anti-clockwise towards "0". Switching off the device Turn the thermostat (3) anti-clockwise to "0" if you want to switch off the raclette grill. Always remove the mains plug from the socket after use to disconnect the raclette grill from the power supply. Cooking raclette Fill the previously lightly oiled raclette pans (8) with the chosen ingredients. Ensure that you do not fill the raclette pans (8) too much, otherwise the ingredients could come too close to the heating element and burn. Place the filled raclette pans (8) into the recesses provided in the stainless steel bottom of the grill base (7). Once the ingredients are cooked, remove the raclette pans (8) from the grill base (7). Use a wooden spatula (9) to now slide the cooked contents from the raclette pans (8) on to a plate. Enjoy your meal! The raclette pans (8) have a non-stick coating and do not have to be oiled again before cooking more portions. For easier recognition, each raclette pan (8) has a coloured dot on its handle. This ensures that you can easily recognise your own raclette pan (8).SilverCrest SRGS 1400 A1

Grilling on the grill plate (1) The grill plate (1) is suitable for grilling meat, potatoes and other vegetables as well as fruit. The grill plate (1) has a non-stick coating. It usually does not have to be oiled between the individual preparations. If you think it needs to be oiled again, however, apply a small amount of oil with a food or pastry brush. Frying on the stone plate (2) The light oiling of the raclette grill when preparing it suffices for frying on the stone plate (2). If possible, you should not apply any more oil to the stone plate (2). The stone plate (2) becomes very hot and retains the heat very well. Thus it is particularly well suited for flash-fried food, steaks, bacon and poultry. Please note that the stone plate (2) requires approximately 30 minutes to become hot enough. You can reduce this time by preheating the stone plate (2) in the oven. DANGER! There is a risk of burns! The preheated stone plate (2) is very hot. Use oven gloves or pot holders to touch it. Place the food you want to fry on the stone plate (2). Make sure that the food is placed within the area surrounded by the grease drip tray. Turn the meat once only, sooner or later depending on your taste, and then leave it to finish cooking. To get a tender result, meat should be turned once only and should then be left to finish cooking. Frequent turning leads to a dry, tough result.SilverCrest SRGS 1400 A1 English - 13 Tips for grilling food well A basic recipe for raclette consists of the following: place vegetables and meat on some thin slices of boiled potatoes in their skins and gratinate them with a slice of suitable cheese. However, there are no limits to your imagination when filling the raclette pans (8). Prepare the ingredients if possible before your meal, but not too soon so that they remain fresh. Use ingredients that require a short cooking time. Vegetables can also be pre-cooked, for example, by frying on the stone plate (2). Season the ingredients to taste. Ensure that finely chopped ingredients are about the same size. They will then be cooked at about the same time. If necessary, cover the prepared ingredients with cling film and put them in the refrigerator until you want to use them. The most important ingredient for raclette is cheese. Melted cheese is (almost always) used for gratinating food in the raclette pans (8). Raclette cheese should melt well and have the right flavour. This may be a milder type at times and a stronger type at other times depending on taste. Here are some suitable cheeses: raclette cheese, Gouda, Cheddar, mountain cheese, Appenzeller or Emmental. Do not place the prepared ingredients too close to the raclette grill as this emits a lot of heat and the ingredients should remain as fresh as possible. Tender meat is the most suitable for grilling and frying as this is also more tender after grilling. Avoid turning the food frequently to prevent it from drying out. To avoid an excessively long cooking time, your food should be not too thick. When frying meat on the stone plate (2), a little salt can prevent the meat from sticking to the stone plate (2). You must still season your meat. Thinly sliced vegetables can be pre-cooked well on the grill plate (1) and stone plate (2). They can then be left to finish cooking in the raclette pans (8). If you grill or fry sausages, pierce them in advance so that they cannot burst and splash grease. Enjoy your meal.SilverCrest SRGS 1400 A1

Maintenance / cleaning Maintenance Servicing is required if the raclette grill has been damaged or if liquids or objects have penetrated the housing, if the raclette grill has been exposed to rain or moisture or if it does not work properly or has been dropped. If smoke is produced, or there are any unusual sounds or smells, switch off the raclette grill immediately and remove the mains plug from the mains socket. In such cases, the raclette grill must not be used until it has been inspected by authorised service personnel. Only have qualified personnel carry out the servicing on the device. Never open the housing of the raclette grill. Cleaning DANGER! Remove the mains plug from the socket before cleaning as there is a risk of an electric shock! Wait until the raclette grill has cooled down completely. Otherwise, there is a risk of burns! Please note that the cooling of the stone plate (2) may take up to 30 minutes. DANGER! The raclette grill must not be immersed in water as there is a risk of an electric shock! After the device has cooled, do not wait too long before you start to clean it. You thus prevent leftovers from getting stuck to the grill and becoming difficult to remove afterwards. Cleaning the grill base (7) To clean the grill base (7), use a damp cloth and never use any solvent or cleaner that would corrode the plastic. Use some water with washing-up liquid if necessary. Rinse with clear water, then dry the grill base (7) thoroughly and use the device again only when it is completely dry. Cleaning the grill plate (1), stone plate (2) and accessories Remove the grill plate (1) and stone plate (2) upwards from the grill base (7). The plates are simply placed on top of it. The grill plate (1), stone plate (2), raclette pans (8) and wooden spatulas (9) can be cleaned by hand in a basin of warm water and washing-up liquid. For more stubborn dirt, leave the parts in warm water for 20 to 30 minutes to soak the leftovers. Never use corrosive, abrasive or scouring cleaning agents. Never put the stone plate (2) into the washing-up water if it has not cooled completely. It could shatter.SilverCrest SRGS 1400 A1 English - 15 Please note that the stone plate (2) requires more time to dry if it is left to soak in the washing-up water and the stone itself has fully absorbed the water. After cleaning, rinse all parts with plenty of clear water and dry them completely before using them again. Put the grill plate (1) and stone plate (2) back on the grill base (7) after you have cleaned them. Storage when not in use If you do not want to use the raclette grill, clean it as described in the section "Cleaning", and store it in a clean, dry place without direct sunlight Troubleshooting The raclette grill does not heat. Check whether the mains plug is inserted correctly into the mains socket. Check the position of the thermostat (3) and turn it clockwise up to "MAX" if necessary.
