  • Never touch the heating unit with wet hands. DANGER of electrocution
  • Do not operate the appliance if it or the power cable show signs of damage or the appliance has been dropped.
  • Extension cables must be designed for min. 10 amp.
  • Arrange the power cable and any ex- tension cable so that nobody can tread on them, trip or catch their foot.
  • Before connecting the appliance, check that the temperature controller is set to the “0” mark.
  • Connect the power plug only to a cor- rectly installed, easily accessible socket with an earthing contact with voltage corresponding to the rating plate. The wall socket must also be easily accessi- ble after connection.
  • Take care that the power cable is not damaged by sharp edges or hot surfac- es. Do not wind the power cable around the appliance but into the base of the heating unit.

Smother the fire with a saucepan lid of appropriate size or a woollen blanket. __RP90956_B1.book Seite 44 Montag, 13. Mai 2013 4:42 1645
  • Warning about burns caused by splash- es of hot liquid when dipping food into the pot: dry food off beforehand and protect hands and forearms with oven gloves.
  • The stainless steel pot, splash guard and fondue forks become very hot during a fondue. Make sure you protect your hands, e.g. with oven gloves, and only grasp the fondue forks by the handle.
  • To prevent it from overflowing during heating, the stainless steel pot should not be filled beyond the upper mark in- dicating the maximum filling level.
  • Leave all parts to cool down fully before emptying, cleaning or moving the pot.
  • Never move the heating unit while the stainless steel pot is standing on it. The pot might slip off. DANGER of injury from cuts
  • Do not eat directly from the fondue forks as they are very sharp. WARNING about material damage
  • The stainless steel pot must be filled at least up to the lower mark indicating the minimum filling level, as less content can quickly overheat.
  • Only use genuine accessories.
  • The appliance is fitted with non-slip rub- ber feet. As furniture is coated with vari- ous varnishes and plastics and may be treated with different cleaning products, it cannot be completely ruled out that some of these substances contain com- ponents which may attack and soften the rubber feet. If necessary, place a non-slip mat under the appliance.
  • Oil may splash out when the electric fondue is in use. You should therefore place the appliance on a surface that is resistant to both heat and grease.
  • Do not pour liquid fat down the sink: when it cools, it may block the drains (see “Emptying the stainless steel pot” on page 47).
  • Make sure that the surface under the ap- pliance is dry.
  • Never place the heating unit on hot sur- faces (e.g. hotplates) or near sources of heat or open flame.

4. Using for the first

  • Check whether all accessories are pre- sent and undamaged.
  • Rinse the stainless steel pot2, the splash guard1 and the fondue forks11 with a mild detergent and dry all parts with great care.
  • Place the appliance on a dry, flat, non- slip surface. This surface should also be heat-resistant and not liable to be dam- aged by splashes of hot oil. NOTE: When being used for the first time, a small amount of smoke and a slight odour may occur. This is due to the assembly mate- rials used for the heating element and is not a fault in the product. Ensure sufficient venti- lation. __RP90956_B1.book Seite 45 Montag, 13. Mai 2013 4:42 1646

DANGER of injury from burns!

  • Danger from explosive deflagration. Make sure you use oil that is fresh, clean and suitable for a fondue. Old, used or unsuitable oil may ignite even at low temperatures. Should the oil catch fire during the fondue, do not try to put it out with water under any cir- cumstances. Smother the fire with a saucepan lid of appropriate size or a woollen blanket.
  • The stainless steel pot2, splash guard1 and fondue forks11 become very hot during a fondue. Make sure you protect your hands, e. g. with oven gloves, and only grasp the fondue forks11 by the handle.
  • Danger of burns caused by splashes of hot liquid when dipping food into the pot: dry food off beforehand and protect hands and forearms with oven gloves.
  • To prevent it from overflowing during heating, the stainless steel pot2 should not be filled beyond the upper mark in- dicating the maximum filling level10.

1. Add oil, stock or cheese to the pot de-

pending on the intended use. The con- tents must come between the two filling level marks9 +10 in the pot.

2. Place the splash guard1 on the pot.

3. Oil and stock: turn the temperature con-

troller6 clockwise to the end stop to heat the pot and its contents. All of the red indicator LEDs8 light up. The appli- ance will now heat up. Cheese: turn the temperature control- ler6 to one of the first red indicator LEDs8 to melt the cheese carefully, stir- ring as it melts. Increase or reduce the setting depending on the way in which the cheese you are using melts. NOTE: The temperature controller6 allows you to freely select a lower temperature after initially heating up the pot. This is advisable, for example, in order to keep the tempera- ture of the contents at just below boiling point.

4. Push the dried pieces of food onto the

fondue forks11 and place in the oil, stock or cheese.

5. Oil and stock: take the fondue forks11

out when the food has cooked as far as you require. Cheese: drag the fondue forks11 through the melted cheese, turning them as you do so to coat the food in cheese.

6. At the end of the fondue, switch the tem-

perature controller6 to the green indi- cator LED7, unplug the appliance and wait until all parts have cooled down before starting cleaning. __RP90956_B1.book Seite 46 Montag, 13. Mai 2013 4:42 1647

Emptying the stainless steel pot Fat which becomes hard when cooled down can be easily removed en bloc using a scraper. Liquid fat can best be poured back into a container, e.g. the original container, using a funnel. Dispose of old fat via your lo- cal disposal facility or discard with house- hold waste. NOTE: Food or fat that has got burnt on is often easier to remove if you fill the pot with water, add a sachet of baking soda and leave to stand overnight.

DANGER for children! The electric fondue should be kept out of the reach of children. WARNING about material damage! Do not wind the power cable3 around the appliance but into the base5 of the heating unit4.
