General information This attractive fondue has been designed by Jan des Bouvrie. This appliance cannot only be used for tasty fondues, it is also pleasing to look at. The heating base, the pan and the forks have a modern design. The Jan des Bouvrie Fondue comes with eight fondue forks, so that you can enjoy it with your family and friends. The temperature regulator makes the Jan des Bouvrie Fondue suitable for different types of fondue, such as the classic meat fondue, a cheese fondue, a chocolate fondue or a Chinese fondue (with stock). Operation and controls See Figure 1. The appliance has the following features: 1 Fondue pan 2 Lid with handle 3 Fondue ring 4 Fondue pan handle 5 Heating base 6 Fondue forks 7 Temperature regulator 8 On/Off indicator light 9 Indicator light, temperature 10 Power cord and plug 11 Cord storage system Before use for the first time 1 Remove all the packaging materials and stickers from the appliance. 2 Clean the appliance and all the accessories (see ‘Cleaning and maintenance’) and then dry them thoroughly. 3 Place the heating base on a stable surface. 4 Place the fondue pan in the middle of the heating base. 5 Place the fondue ring in the fondue pan. Heating oil or stock 1 Choose an oil that is suitable for use with a fondue (this will be stated on the packaging).
- Do not use oil that is not suitable for use with a fondue. The oil can spit and cause burns. 2 Fill the fondue pan with oil or stock. Make sure the pan is filled above the minimum level (Min.) and below the maximum level (Max.). 3 Insert the plug into the plug socket. The red indicator light will be lit to indicate that the appliance has been turned on.
- Do not turn on the appliance when the pan is empty. 4 Rotate the temperature regulator to the desired setting. The orange indicator light will be lit. Adjust the temperature so that the liquid just starts to boil. 5 Whilst heating the liquid, stir the pan every now and then so that the liquid is slowly heated. 6 The light will go out once the desired temperature has been reached. You can now start to fondue. Heating cheese or chocolate 1 Select a recipe for cheese or chocolate fondue. 2 Insert the plug into the plug socket. The red indicator light will be lit to indicate that the appliance has been turned on. 3 Prepare the mixture for the fondue according to the recipe. 4 Rotate the temperature regulator to the desired setting. The orange indicator light will be lit.
- Do not set the temperature too high when heating cheese or chocolate, otherwise the mixture may become burnt or boil over. 5 Whilst heating the liquid, stir the pan every now and then so that the mixture is slowly heated and does not become lumpy. 6 The light will go out once the desired temperature has been reached. You can now start to fondue. Princess_Let's Cook Fondue_172662.book Page 6 Saturday, August 19, 2006 2:54 PMLET’SCOOKFONDUEART 172662
Fondue 1 Prick a piece of food onto the fondue fork. 2 Place the fork in the heated mixture. If using oil or stock, allow the piece of food to cook by resting the fork on the fondue ring. If using cheese or chocolate, you only have to dip the piece of food in the fondue.
- If using oil, make sure the food is not too moist, otherwise the oil may spit.
- To avoid damage, do not prick the forks into the pan. 3 Remove the fork from the pan. The food can now be eaten.
