SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS General Information Read these instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years. Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent orsimilarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: o Staff kitchen areas in shop, offices and other working environment; o Farm houses; o By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; o Bed and breakfast type environments. Only use the appliance as described in this manual. In case of damage caused by failure of not living up to this manual the warranty will decay immediately. The manufacturer/importer accepts no liability for damages caused by failure to not living up the manual, a negligent use or use not in accordance with the requirements of this manual. Always remove the power cord and let it cool: o Before moving the unit; o Before the unit is stored; o Before you go mounting or dismantle parts; o Before cleaning or maintenance work; o After use. Only have the appliance repaired by a qualified service centre (*). Electricity and heat Before use, check that the mains power supply voltage is the same and the voltage is the same as the voltage indicated on the appliance. Always plug the appliance into an earthed plug socket. Regularly check the power cord for damage. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to manufacturer or the nearest authorized service agent for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment. To remove the plug from the plug socket, pull the plug. Do not pull the power cord. Make sure the power cord does not come into contact with hot surfaces or steam. Always remove the plug from the plug socket before you move the appliance. The machine should not be operated by means of an external timer-switch or by means of a separate system with remote control. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 10-ampere cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage may overheat. Careshould be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over. To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high voltage appliance on the same circuit. To protect against electric shock do not immerse cord, plugs, or housing in water or other liquid. Do not touch the appliance if it falls into water. Remove the plug from its socket, turn off the appliance and do not use it again. Do not use the appliance close to hot objects such as a stove or oven.

Using the appliance The use of accessory attachment not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries. Only use the appliance indoors, in dry areas away from water. Do not immerse the appliance or the mains plug in water or other liquids. There is danger to life due to electric shock! To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not use the appliance outdoors or on wet surfaces. Place the appliance on a stable, level surface from which it cannot fall of. Use the appliance on a flat, dry and heat resistance surface, not on varnished furniture. Place the appliance at least 5cm of the wall or flammable objects (such as curtains, candles or towels). 2. Non-stick cooking pot

Before using wash the accessory parts first. Simply wash with warm soapy water, rinse and dry. Your appliance is now ready for its first use. Place the base on the dry, level, heat resistant surface, away from the edge of the work surface. Do not use on the floor. Place the inner pot inside the cooker before operating. When ready to cook, plug the cord into the appliance first and then into the wall outlet. A buzz sound will be heard. The indicator light of “Keepwarm / Cancel” button flickers in blue. The machine is under standby condition. NOTE: The first time you use your appliance you may experience a small amount of smoke or a slight smell. This is just the manufacturing residues burning off. It is not a fault or a cause for concern and will soon dissipate. USE ATTENTION: the machine will start working after 8 seconds you press the functional buttons. If you wish to stop working during cooking, press the button “Keepwarm / Cancel”. a. “Rice” function: When the appliance is under standby condition, put the appropriate amount of rice and water into the inner pot according to the scale mark inside the inner pot. (For example: if you put 2 cups of rice into the inner pot, then add the water until it reaches the scale mark “2”.) Press the “Rice” button. The indicator lamp of this button lights up in blue. After 8seconds, the rice cooking function begins to work. The process time of rice cooking differs from the amount of the rice. It costs about 27 to 48 minutes to finish the rice cooking. Once the rice is ready, a warning tone will be sent for 5 times, which means the cooking is ended and the machine will turn to the keep warm status. Rice / finishing time chart Amount of rice Finishing time 2 cups 20-28 minutes 4 cups 33-38 minutes 6 cups 36-40 minutes 8 cups 38-42 minutes 10 cups 40-44 minutes **** “Rice” function can cook the BROWN RICE. The maximum capacity of brown rice is 6 cups. b. “Slow cook” function: Put the moderate amount of food to be steamed and simmered into the inner pot under the standby condition. Then add the moderate amount of water. Press the “Slow Cook” button. The indicator lamp of this button lights up in blue. After 8 seconds, the slow cook function begins to work. During cooking, the temperature of food in the inner pot could reach over 65℃ in 2 hours. For 2 to 4 hours it reaches 65℃ to 95℃ and after 4 hours it reaches 95 ℃ to 98℃. The whole process costs 8 hours. Once the food is ready, a warning tone will be sent for 5 times, which means the cooking is ended and the machine will turn to the keep warm status. NOTE: should you have a recipe that requires less cooking time (The fixed cooking time is 8 hours.) then you will need to switch off the appliance manually by pressing the “Keepwarm/Cancel” button. c. “Risotto” function: Put the moderate amount of edible oil into the inner pot under the standby condition, and then press the “Risotto” button. The indicator lamp of this button lights up in blue. After 8 seconds, the agitator blade on the motor begins to run. Make sure that it is correctly located by twisting it both ways, it should stop at both directions if located properly. Agitator blade After 2-3 minutes of preheating, add moderate amount of rice (refer to the guidelines for brown rice when using this function.). Do not add water / stock at this stage. NOTE: if your recipe requires onions or garlic then add them at this stage to allow them to brown with the rice. Observe the rice and when it has started to brown add water / stock according to your recipe. The appliance will continue to cook your risotto for around another 30 minutes. After approximately 20 minutes, the agitator blade will stop, the buzzer will sound and after 10 minutes the appliance will turn to the keep warm status. NOTE: if you wish you can now add additional cooked ingredients to your risotto, carefully stirring them in and allowing them to warm through. d. “Saute” function: Put the moderate amount of edible oil into the inner pot under the standby condition, and then press the “Saute” button. The indicator lamp of this button lights up in blue. After 8 seconds, the agitator blade on the motor begins to run. Make sure that it is correctly located by twisting it both ways, it should stop at both directions if located properly. NOTE: If you don’t wish to use the stirrer function then simply don’t fit the agitator blade. Amount of Brown Rice Add water Finishing time 2 cups 3 cups 38~44 minutes 4 cups 5 cups 43~47 minutes 6 cups 7 cups 50~54 minutes After approximately 10 minutes of preheating, the buzzer will sound. The temperature of the pot will be around 120℃ to 140℃. Add the food that you wish to sauté into the inner pot. Let the appliance continue to work until you are happy with the results. Then press the “Keepwarm/Cancel” button to turn your appliance to standby condition. When have served the food turn off and unplug the appliance allowing it to cool before cleaning. NOTE: The appliance is programmed to switch to standby condition after 30 minutes of sauté cooking. e. “Pasta” function: Under the standby condition, add the appropriate amount of water to reach the scale mark “9” (the scales line between 8 and 10) inside the inner pot. Put the steam basket onto the appliance and then press the “Pasta” button. The indicator light illuminates in blue. After 8 seconds, the appliance starts working. After approximately 25 minutes, the buzzer begins to ring for 10 times. It is the time to put the pasta into the steam basket. Let the appliance continue to work and after approximately 10-12 minutes, the buzzer will sound 30 times, which means the cooking is ended and the machine will turn to the standby condition. Your pasta is now ready to serve. f. “Keep warm / Cancel” function: When you are using one of the appliance modes, a single press of the "Keepwarm / Cancel" button will cause the appliance to enter "Cancel" mode and stop the cooking process immediately. A second press switches the unit to "Keep Warm" mode. This maintains a temperature of 60℃ to 80℃ for 12 hours after which it will switch to "Cancel" (Standby). ALWAYS USE OVEN GLOVES/MITTS WHEN REMOVING THE LID AND/OR THE COOKING POTS AFTER OR DURING COOKING.

IMPORTANT TIPS IMPORTANT: Important – Do not overfill your appliance. Always leave a space of around 2.5cm from the top of the inner pot to allow for expansion and for the contents to boil. Only use plastic or wooden utensils for stirring etc. Metal utensils will damage the non-stick surfaces on the pots. Use oven mitts when handling the lid or the pots of the appliance as they will become very hot during cooking and remain hot for some time afterwards, so care is required at all times. During and after use the lid becomes HOT. To prevent a hazard occurring, always remove the lid slowly with the inside of the lid directed away from you and other persons so that the steam escapes gradually. Condensation dropping from the inside of the lid will also be hot.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Before cleaning your appliance, always unplug and allow it to cool completely. Clean the external surfaces of the appliance with a soft, damp, lint free cloth. Wash the cooking pots, agitator blade and glass lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not use a scouring pad or other abrasive materials.   • Within the warranty period any defects in production or material will be resolved free of charge, by means of reparation, replacement of parts or replacement of the appliance as a whole.
  • The warranty certificate has to be filled in by the sales person at the moment of purchase.
  • Repairs will only be made under warranty in case it can proven (by means of a filled in warranty card and the receipt) that the day the complaint is filed falls into the warranty period.
  • The warranty does not apply when defects or damages result from an accident, misuse, negligence (e.g. incorrect cleansing), or when repairs of alterations have been executed outside the authorized TOMADO service centre (excl. disassembling, as stated in the instruction manual).
