How to clean the deep fryer after use?

Let the oil cool down, empty it, then clean the tank and basket with hot soapy water or in the dishwasher. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.

How much oil to use?

Fill the tank up to the indicated max level, generally between 1.2 and 1.5 liters. Do not exceed the mark to avoid overflows.

The fryer makes an abnormal noise, what should I do?

Check that the tank is properly positioned and that the oil is not too cold. If the noise persists, stop the appliance and contact customer service.

Can I use the fryer without oil?

No, this fryer is designed to work with oil. For oil-free cooking, choose an air fryer.

How to set the temperature for fries?

For homemade fries, set the thermostat to 180 °C. Preheat for 5 minutes, then add the fries and monitor cooking.

Why does the oil overflow when I add food?

This may be due to excess oil or overly moist food. Dry the food before adding and do not exceed the max level of oil.

How to change the oil?

Let the used oil cool, filter it to remove residues, then dispose of it in a suitable container. Clean the tank before adding new oil.

The fryer turns off by itself, is this normal?

Yes, this is a safety feature: the appliance automatically stops after cooking or in case of overheating. Wait a few minutes before turning it back on.

The manufacturer/importer accepts no liability for damages caused by failure to observe this instruction manual, careless use of the appliance or use that is not in accordance with the instructions set out in this instruction manual.

• This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities (including children), or anyone lacking sufficient knowledge or expertise, unless supervised by or following instruction from someone responsible for their safety.

Electricity and heat

• Do not use the appliance if the power cord is damaged. Have a damaged power cord replaced by a qualified service centre.
• Do not use any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance has shown signs of defects, has fallen or has been damaged in any way. Return the appliance to the manufacturer or the nearest qualified service centre for inspection, repairs or electrical or mechanical modifications.
• Always remove the plug from the wall socket by pulling on the plug, not the power cord.
• Make sure the power cord does not come into contact with hot surfaces or steam.
• Always remove the plug from the power socket before moving the appliance.
• Do not operate the appliance by means of an external time switch or a separate remote control system.

Using the appliance

• This appliance is intended for domestic and similar use, such as:

• The use of accessories not recommended by the manufacturer of the appliance may result in personal injury.

OPERATION

You can use this deep-fryer to fry small quantities of snacks, such as spring rolls, chicken wings and fries. Ideal for preparing a savoury snack.

USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

• Remove all packaging from the appliance.
• Clean the appliance, see 'Cleaning and Maintenance'.
• Attach the handle to the frying basket. Squeeze both sides of the handle together for this. The end of the handle will then fit into the basket's handle holder. Now slowly release the handle and make sure that both ends lock into the eyes and clamps of the basket (see also the picture in the description of parts).
• When the appliance is switched on and heats up for the first time, a small amount of smoke may be released and you may detect a certain smell. This is normal, and will disappear after a few minutes.
• Fill the appliance with oil or liquid frying fat. See 'Using the appliance'.
• Continue with the procedure in 'Using the appliance'.

USING THE APPLIANCE

Filling the Appliance with oil or fat

• Open the lid by pressing the lid opener.
• Use the handle to remove the frying basket from the appliance.
• Fill the appliance with the required amount of oil or liquid fat. Make sure that the appliance is filled to at least the minimum level and no higher than

the maximum level indicated on the inside of the appliance. Close the lid.

Deep-frying

• Insert the plug into the mains power socket.
• Set the temperature switch to the desired temperature. The indicator lamp will illuminate.
• Wait until the oil or fat reaches the set temperature. The indicator lamp will then go out. To keep the oil or fat at this temperature, the heating element will repeatedly switch on and off, and the indicator lamp will also go on and off.
• Open the lid by pressing the lid opener.
• Place the food to be deep-fried in the frying basket. For the best result, we recommend placing dry food in the basket.
• Slowly submerse the frying basket into the appliance. Make sure the handle drops into the handle recess.
• Make sure that the oil or fat does not pass over the edge of the appliance. If this is about to happen, it means the basket is too full and you will have to take something out of it.
• Leave the handle attached to the basket and close the lid. The frying time depends on the foodstuffs and your own taste.
• Use the handle to remove the frying basket from the appliance once the frying time has elapsed.
• Hang the hook of the frying basket in the recess on the front edge of the appliance to allow the oil to drain from the fried food. Never shake the basket.

• Set the temperature switch to the lowest setting (OFF).

• Remove the plug from the mains power socket.

• Remove the food from the appliance on time. Otherwise the food may get burnt and give off smoke.
• Regularly replace the frying oil or the liquid frying fat. Fat or oil quality diminishes each time you use it for frying, as well as becoming contaminated with food remains.
• Never switch on the appliance without oil or liquid fat, as this could damage the appliance. Never pour any other liquids, such as water or other substances, into the deep-fryer.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Warning

Before cleaning the appliance, always switch it off, unplug it from the electricity supply and allow it to cool down completely.

Cleaning the appliance

• Never immerse the appliance or power cord in water, or in any other liquid. This may cause an electric shock or a short circuit.
• Do not clean the appliance with an aggressive or abrasive cleaner or with a sharp object, such as a hard brush or a knife.

• Completely remove the lid from the appliance. You can do this by opening the lid and then lifting it up.

• First remove any oil or fat still inside the appliance:

• Make sure that the oil or fat has cooled down completely.
• Frying oil or fat should be disposed of at a special-purpose collection point.
• Clean the frying basket, the inner pan and the lid using hot water and washing-up liquid. Dry them thoroughly.
• Clean the outside of the appliance only with a moist cloth and thoroughly dry the outside afterwards.
• Fit the lid back on the appliance. You can do this by placing the lid upright above the hinge recesses in the housing. Make sure that the protruding part of the spring slots into the housing. Now you can push the lid down at the hinge until the hinge clicks into place.

Replacing the filter

• Open the filter holder on the lid.
• Remove the filter present from the lid.
• Place the new filter.
• Close the filter holder.

STORAGE

Store the appliance and the accessories in a dry place. After long storage periods without use, drain the oil or fat from the appliance and store the oil or fat separately.

Warranty regulations

• TOMADO provides a 2-year warranty for all defects caused by hidden deficiencies which render the appliance useless for normal operation.
• The warranty runs from the date of purchase; we advise you to carefully save your receipt.
• Within the warranty period any defects in production or material will be resolved free of charge, by means of reparation, replacement of parts or replacement of the appliance as a whole.
• The warranty certificate has to be filled in by the sales person at the moment of purchase.
• Repairs will only be made under warranty in case it can proven (by means of a filled in warranty card and the receipt) that the day the complaint is filed falls into the warranty period.
• The warranty does not apply when defects or damages result from an accident, misuse, negligence (e.g. incorrect cleansing), or when repairs of alterations have been executed outside the authorized TOMADO service centre (excl. disassembling, as stated in the instruction manual).
• The warranty does not cover any defects arising when the appliance is connected to the wrong outlet voltage, not following the guidelines in the instruction manual and usual wear and tear.
• The warranty does not cover any defects arising from the lack of frequent descaling of appliances, whatever type of water has been used (especially for steam irons, coffee machines and water boilers).
  • TOMADO cannot be held responsible for any material damage or personal accident resulting from connecting

the appliance in breach of the locally applicable safety regulations and technical standards (for instance an inferior AC outlet). The warranty under no circumstances grants the right for any compensation.

• All other claims, including damages, are excluded unless the Law states otherwise.
• Other warranty regulations than the warranty regulations stated above are not applicable.

What do you do in case your appliance does not work?

When your appliance shows defects, you can refer to your salesperson. Your salesperson will make sure any defect will be repaired as soon as possible.

Repairs outside the warranty period

You can always hand in your appliance to have it repaired outside the warranty period. This will of course not be free of charge.
