OPERATION

General Information

You can use this appliance to deep-fry small quantities of snacks, such as spring rolls, chicken wings and fries. Ideal for preparing a savoury snack.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

Remove the packaging material from the appliance. Clean the appliance with a damp cloth. Dry it thoroughly: this will also remove any factory residues. See the 'Cleaning and maintenance' section. Place the appliance on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Fill the appliance with oil or frying fat. See 'Filling the appliance with oil or fat' section.

USING THE APPLIANCE

Place the appliance on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. Insert the plug into the mains power socket. Set the thermostat to the desired temperature. This temperature is often printed on the food packaging. The red 'POWER' indicator lamp and the green 'HEATING' indicator lamp goes on. The oil or fat has reached the temperature set, once the green indicator lamp (heating) has gone out. Open the lid. Remove the deep-fryer basket from the deep-fryer bowl using the handle. Fill the frying basket with the food to be deep-fried. Do not overfill the basket; a half-full basket achieves excellent results. Submerse the deep-fryer basket into the appliance carefully. Close the lid. Open the deep-fryer lid every so often, briefly remove the basket from the fat using the handle and gently shake the contents. Carefully lower the basket back into the fat and close the lid. When products have been sufficiently fried, open the lid, lift the deep-fryer basket from the fat and allow for excess fat to drip back into the deep-fryer bowl. Before frying the following serving, wait for the fat to reach the correct temperature (once the green indicator lamp has gone out).

NOTE

  • Do not leave products in the appliance too long. Otherwise, they may burn and produce smoke.
  • Regularly replace the oil or fat. Fat or oil quality diminishes each time you use it for frying, as well as becoming contaminated with food remains.
  • In the event of overheating, the thermal cut-off will switch off the deep fat fryer. This can happen if the deep fat fryer is not filled with sufficient oil or solid frying fat is melted in the deep fat fryer. In the case of solid fat, the heating element is unable to radiate the produced heat quickly enough. If the safety thermal cut-off switches the deep fat

fryer, proceed as follows: Unplug the fryer, allow the oil or fat to cool down completely. The deep fat fryer is now ready to use again.

• After use, always place the temperature-control dial in the lowest setting and remove the plug from the plug socket. Allow the appliance to cool down completely before cleaning or storing.
- If you replace the oil or fat, then clean the appliance immediately. See the 'Cleaning and maintenance' section.

FILLING THE APPLIANCE WITH OIL OR FAT

Preferably use liquid frying fat or frying oil. Pour the oil or fat into the appliance. The oil or fat level should be between the deep-fryer's 'MIN' and 'MAX' levels. Melt solid frying fat in a regular saucepan first and then pour it carefully into the deep-fryer bowl.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE NOTE

  • Switch off the appliance, remove the plug from the wall socket then let the appliance and the oil/fat cool down before cleaning.
  • Never immerse the appliance or power cord in water, or in any other liquid. This may cause an electric shock or a short circuit.
  • Do not clean the appliance with an aggressive or abrasive cleaner or with a sharp object, such as a hard brush or a knife.

  • Never insert hard or sharp objects into the appliance. This may damage the appliance.

  • Clean the housing and the deep-fryer basket after each use to prevent food residuals from caking on to the appliance.
  • Clean the appliance thoroughly before you refill it with new fat or oil.

Follow the instructions below to clean the appliance: Clean the frying basket and lid using hot water and washing-up liquid, and dry thoroughly. Use a damp cloth to clean the outside of the appliance's housing. Dry it with a cloth.

Follow the instructions given below to thoroughly clean the appliance.

Open the lid and take the frying basket out of the appliance. If the appliance has been filled with solid frying fat, turn the appliance on briefly to melt the fat. The frying basket can then be removed more easily. Proceed only once the frying fat has almost fully resolidified. Remove the lid from the pan. Empty the pan of any oil or frying fat. NOTE: Oil and frying fat should be disposed off at a special-purpose collection point. Clean the frying basket and lid using hot water and washing-up liquid, and dry thoroughly. Clean the pan thoroughly using hot water and washing-up liquid. Dry the pan well after cleaning. Use a damp cloth to clean the outside of the appliance's housing. Dry it with a cloth. Replace the deep-frying basket in the appliance and reattach the lid on the appliance's housing.
