OPERATION
You can use this deep-fryer to fry small quantities of snacks, such as spring rolls, chicken wings and fries. Ideal for preparing a savoury snack.
USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
- Remove all packaging from the appliance.
- Clean the appliance. See 'Cleaning and Maintenance'.
- Attach the handle to the deep-fryer basket. Squeeze both ends of the handle together for this, fitting them between the eyes of the basket's handle holder. Slowly release the handle and make sure that both ends lock into the eyes of the basket. Tilt the handle until it clamps onto the deep-fryer basket (see also the picture in the description of parts).
- Fill the appliance with oil or liquid fat. See "Using the appliance".
- Continue with the procedure set out in 'Using the appliance'.
USING THE APPLIANCE
Filling the Appliance with oil or fat
- Open the lid by pressing the lid opener.
- Use the handle to remove the deep-fryer basket from the appliance.
- Fill the deep-fryer with the required amount of oil or liquid fat. Make sure that the deep-fryer is filled to the minimum level and no higher than the maximum level indicated on the inside of the appliance. For best
results we recommend never mixing different types of oil.
- Insert the plug into the mains power socket. The 'POWER' indicator lamp will illuminate.
- Set the temperature switch to 140^ . The 'HEAT' indicator lamp will illuminate.
- The "HEAT" indicator lamp will go out when the selected temperature has been reached. Always wait until the selected temperature has been reached. During use the temperature indicator lamp will illuminate and extinguish as the thermostat maintains the oil or the fat at the set temperature.
Deep-frying
- Insert the plug into the mains power socket. The 'POWER' indicator lamp will illuminate.
- Set the temperature switch to the desired temperature.
- Use the handle to remove the deep-fryer basket from the appliance.
- Place the food to be deep-fried in the basket. For best results we recommend placing dry food in the basket.
- Slowly submerse the deep-fryer basket into the appliance.
• Make sure that the frying oil or fat does not pass over
the edge of the appliance. If this is about to happen, you will have put too much in the basket and you will have to remove some of it.
- Close the lid.
- While frying, the appliance automatically keeps the frying oil or fat at the set temperature. The 'HEAT' indicator lamp will therefore light up sometimes to indicate that the heating element is doing its job.
- Lift the basket up again once the frying time has passed.
• After removing the frying basket allow the oil to drain from the food you fried; never shake the basket. - Set the thermostat to its lowest setting ("OFF" position).
- Remove the plug from the mains power socket.
NOTE
- Remove the food from the appliance on time.
Otherwise the food may get burnt and give off smoke. - Regularly replace the frying oil or the liquid frying fat. Fat or oil quality diminishes each time you use it for frying, as well as becoming contaminated with food remains.
- Never switch on the deep-fryer without oil or liquid fat, as this could damage the machine. Never pour any other liquids, such as water or other substances, into the deep-fryer.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Before cleaning the appliance, always switch it off, unplug it from the electricity supply and allow it to cool down completely.
Cleaning
- Never immerse the appliance or power cord in water, or in any other liquid. This may cause an electric shock or a short circuit.
- Do not clean the appliance with an aggressive or abrasive cleaner or with a sharp object, such as a hard brush or a knife.
- First remove any oil or fat still inside the appliance:
- Make sure that the oil or fat has cooled down completely.
- Frying oil or fat should be disposed of at a special-purpose collection point.
- Clean the frying basket, the inner pan and the lid using hot water and washing-up liquid. Dry them thoroughly.
- Clean the outside of the appliance only with a moist cloth and thoroughly dry the outside afterwards.
Replacing the filter
- Open the lid.
• Unscrew the metal inner lid. - Remove the filter present from the lid.
- Place the new filter.
• Reattach the metal inner lid.
STORAGE
Store the appliance and the accessories in a dry place. After long storage periods without use, drain the oil or fat from the appliance and store the oil or fat separately.
