Frequently Asked Questions - KH5 STEBA

How do I use the thermostat on my Steba KH5 fan heater?
Set the thermostat to maximum until you reach a comfortable temperature, then slowly turn the knob counterclockwise until you hear a click. Then turn it very slightly clockwise so that the indicator light goes out. The thermostat will then maintain the chosen temperature.
Why does my device emit a slight smoke on first use?
This is normal: production oil can cause momentary smoke. Ensure good ventilation and let the unit run for a few minutes until it dissipates.
How do I clean the filter of the Steba KH5?
Unplug the device, remove the screw at the back and take off the filter cover. Remove the foam filter, wash it in lukewarm water, dry it thoroughly and replace it.
What safety distances must be respected?
Place the device at least 1 meter away from flammable objects and furniture. Leave a radius of at least 1 meter in front of the air outlet grille and 50 cm behind.
Can I let my child use the fan heater?
Children aged 8 and above can use it under supervision. Children aged 3 to 8 can turn it on/off if installed correctly, but must not clean or maintain it.
What to do in case of overheating?
The device shuts off automatically. Turn it off, remove the cause (obstacle, dirt), let it cool for 15-20 minutes, then turn it back on.
Can I use the fan heater in a bathroom?
No, do not use it near a shower, bathtub or sink to avoid any risk of electrocution.
How does the oscillation work?
The oscillation (pivoting) allows a more even distribution of heat. Never block the oscillation movement.
How do I properly dispose of my device at the end of its life?
Do not throw it with household waste. Take it to a collection center for recycling of electrical equipment.
The power cable is damaged, what should I do?
Do not attempt to replace it yourself. Take the device to an authorized service center. The replacement cable must be of type 2 x 1 mm² H05VV-F.

  • Don't leave your home while the appliance is in function: ensure in this case that the switch is in OFF (0) position.

During function, place the heater in a safe position :

  • far (1 mt.) from inflammable objects or furnitures; if wall mounted, not fixed to wooden or synthetic plastic surfaces;
  • leaving the air outlet space free : 1 mt. of free space in front of the heater and 50~cm of free space behind it;

Oscillation

  • Due to the oscillation (turning) a more equal temperature in the surrounding is achieved.

  • Never block the oscillation movement.

Use of the thermostat

  • In a room where the temperature is too high (more than 30^ ), it is normal that the thermostat will not switch on the heater.
  • In a room where the temperature is too low (around 5^ or even less) it is also normal that the thermostat will keep the appliance working until the temperature gets higher.
    To select the right thermostat position we suggest you to

  • turn the thermostat in maximum position (clockwise);

  • leave the appliance working until the comfortable temperature is reached;

  • turn the knob anti clockwise until you hear a „click“ and the red indication light turns off;
  • turn clockwise again the knob (just a little): in this position the thermostat will maintain the comfortable temperature you have selected. The red indication light shines if the heater turns on again.

If the appliance is used for the first time there can be a little smoke due to some production oil residues.

To clean the filter proceed as following (picture)

  • Pull out the power plug;

Loosen the filter-screw at the back of the product and pull it backwards;

  • In this case the appliance stops working and the pilot light will remain switched on even if the appliance is not working.

If this happens:

  • switch off the fan heater;

  • remove the causes of abnormal operation or overheating (i.e. obstacles in front of air inlet or air outlet grille);

leave the heater cool down for 15/20 minutes;

  • switch on again the fan heater.

  • This fan heater does not require any particular maintenance.
  • We only recommend to clean at least twice a year the air inlet and air outlet grille with a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from motor and heating element.
