  • Warning! Do not close the lid of the deep fat fryer du- ring operation, as the oil might overfl ow and cause a fi re. The lid should only be used for protection during storage after the oil has cooled down.
  • Never add water to the oil!
  • Warning! Oils and fats may burn when overheated. Please be careful! Do not forget to switch the device off after use! First turn the thermostat to the lowest position and then remove the mains plug. Overview of the Components 1 Safety switch 2 Thermostat 3 TEMP lamp (red) 4 POWER lamp (green) 5 Lid 6 Frying grease container 7 Frying basket 8 Housing 9 Restart button 10 Cable compartment Introduction The deep fryer is equipped with an adjustable thermostat, so that the temperature can be adapted to the food being fried. The optimal and safe use of the deep fryer requires that the use instructions be read carefully. Connection The fryer must be connected to a properly installed 230 V, 50 Hz socket with earthing protection. Putting into use Before using for the fi rst time

1. Remove the packaging. Then take the lid off the deep fat

fryer. In the deep fat fryer you will fi nd a frying basket. Take all objects out of the fryer.

2. It is highly recommended to clean the lid, casing (8), contai-

ner (6) and frying basket as described in Cleaning.

3. Please pull the connecting cable out of the cable compart-

ment (10). Useful hints for use

1. Always remove the food remaining in the oil (e.g. pieces of

French fries). Change the oil after using it 8-10 times. Use high quality frying oil or frying grease.

2. Fats and oils must be heatable to high temperatures. Do not

use margarine, olive oil or butter: they are not fi t for frying, because they start to smoke already at low temperatures. We recommend the use of liquid frying oil. Warning! Please note this important information if you intend to use fat! If you use fat, please divide it up into small pieces. Turn the thermostat to a low temperature and add the pieces slowly. Once the fat has melted and the correct oil level is reached you can set the desired temperature on the thermostat. Under no circumstances should you place the fat in the deep frying basket!

3. In order to reduce the acrylamide content of food containing

starch (potatoes, cereals) the temperature during deep-fat frying should not exceed 170° C (or possibly 175° C). Fur- thermore, the frying time should be kept as short as possible and the food only fried until it turns golden yellow. 05-FR 1206 CB 25 10.11.2006, 14:45:54 UhrENGLISH ENGLISH

4. Please note that the safety switch (1) is operated when the

control element is inserted into the guide mechanism.

5. Choose the right frying temperature and check the conditi-

ons of the food to be fried. A rule of thumb is that pre-fried foods require a higher temperature than raw foods.

6. Do not carry or move the deep fryer if the oil or grease is still

7. When frying dough-like foods scrape off the excess dough

and put the pieces carefully into the oil.

8. Please ensure that the handle of the deep fat frying basket

has been correctly attached.

  • Press the ends of the wire together at the free end of the handle.
  • Insert the brackets into wire hoops inside the basket.
  • The deep fat frying basket must not be more than 2/3 full. Do not overfi ll the frying basket (The maximum fi lling quantity for chips is 200g per litre of oil/fat).

9. Rub dry humid foods with a cloth before frying.

Caution: In the case of foodstuffs which are too moist (e.g. frozen chips etc.) large amounts of foam may form, which under certain circumstances may cause the oil to overfl ow. Use

1. Make sure that the appliance is unplugged and switched off

(The control lamps are off.).

2. Take the lid off the deep fryer.

3. Remove the frying basket and fi ll the container with oil or

grease (maximum 3.3 l). The fi lling level must be located between the minimum and the maximum level. Put the lid back on.

4. Insert the plug into a 230 V, 50 Hz power socket. The green

control lamp (4) lights up. Set the desired temperature by turning the temperature control (2).

5. The red control lamp (3) lights up. Once the set temperature

has been reached the red control lamp goes off. Place the frying basket containing the items to be fried carefully into the hot fat.

6. The red control lamp switches on and off several times

during frying. This is normal and it indicates that the temperature is controlled by the thermostat and is being maintained. Once the frying time is over (the frying times are to be found on the packaging of the food or in the recipe), please take out the frying basket.

7. Let the oil drip from the food being fried.

8. In order to switch off the machine, please turn the tem-

perature regulator to OFF and remove the plug from the socket.Wind the mains lead up in the form of a spiral in the cable compartment. Cleaning

by the handles andpour the oil out at the side.
