7.Tank filling

SILVERCREST SDBC 3.5 A1 - 7.Tank filling - 1

Warning:

  • Open the safety cap 1 when the steam ironing centre has cooled down for at least 15 minutes, otherwise outflowing hot steam may cause burning.
  • Never use the steam ironing centre without any water otherwise the boiler may be damaged.
  • The steam ironing centre is built to be used with tap water.
  • Fill the boiler completely before every use, so you can avoid unnecessary pauses.

Note:

To avoid contamination and damage to the boiler follow these notes:

  • Do not fill with water from the laundry dryer.
  • Do not fill with chemical cleaned water.
  • Do not put any additives into the water (e. g. scents, etc.).
  • Do not fill with water from filter units (e.g. activated carbon filter).

Filling with water

  • Unplug the unit.
  • Slide the rest pad 2 laterally.
  • Open the safety cap ① by pushing it down and turning it counter clockwise.
  • Pour the desired quantity of water in the filling bottle 19 (max 1,2l).
  • Turn the filler bottle 19 upside down and place it into the boiler opening.
  • Press the filler bottle 19 down and hold, so that the valve in it opens and water can pour into the boiler. Overfilling is not possible, because the valve of the filler bottle 19 closes if the boiler is completely filled.
  • Close the safety cap 1 by pushing it down and turning clockwise.
  • Slide the rest pad 2 back to the basic position.

Hint:

Fill the boiler completely before every use, so you can avoid unnecessary pauses for cooling down and refilling.

8. Before first use

When using the unit for the first time it is possible that production residues may cause some smoke and smell. The smell is not injurious to health, but make sure you have sufficient ventilation.

- Assembly the steam ironing centre as described in chapter 6.

- Fill with water as described in chapter 7.

- Plug the unit in.

- Switch on the steam ironing centre by the ON-OFF switch 7.

- Turn the temperature selection knob 11 up to +MAX, the temperature indicator 10 turns red.

- Wait until the temperature indicator 10 and the steam-ready indicator 4 turn green, at this stage the iron has reached the MAX temperature and is ready for steaming. This may take 5-10 minutes, depending on the water level.

- At first you should iron a cloth or a hand towel (suitable to +MAX temperature) to remove any residue from the iron soleplate 13.

- Press the steam button 12 a few times for several seconds to remove any residue from of the iron cord 21, the iron and the sole plate holes. While doing this, hold the iron over a bucket or steam straight on an old piece of tissue to catch the residues.

9. Ironing

Note:

  • If the care label on the textiles do not allow to iron you should not iron them, or they may get damaged.
  • Avoid ironing over harsh objects like zips, fixing pins, blanks or similar things, because they may scratch the iron sole plate ^13 .
  • Always iron printed textiles after turning them inside-out, printing may be damaged and the iron sole plate 13 gets dirty.

Some helpful tips for ironing:

  • The iron soleplate 13 gets warm rapidly, but cools down very slowly.
  • Sort your clothes according to the fabric they are made of.
    • Always start with the ones which need the lowest temperature.
  • Always follow the care label. If you are not sure about the kind of fabric start ironing carefully on a little, invisible area (e.g. inner area). In case of doubt, start with the lowest temperature. If any wrinkles remain, increase the temperature slowly. If you have found the right temperature stop increasing it. Never increase temperature so high that the clothes may be damaged.

- Steam on knitted textiles keeping the iron a few centimetres away, without touching the textiles with the iron soleplate 13. Steaming on the fibres brings back their elasticity. You should never iron knitted textiles like you do on others.

• Always iron velvet textiles in the direction of the hair.

- Steam is more or less visible, depending on the room temperature. In rooms with a high temperature you will appear to see less steam but it is still being given out in the amount you have chosen.

Start ironing:

  • Follow the steps in chapter 6.
  • Plug the unit in.
  • Switch on the steam ironing centre with main power switch ⑦.
  • If the water level warning indicator 5 is red, switch off the steam ironing centre with the main power switch 7, unplug the power cable 15 and follow the steps in chapter 7. After filling the tank start again with the second step in this chapter.
  • Choose the right temperature by turning the temperature selection knob 11, the iron lamp indicator 10 flashes red.
  • Please wait until the steam-ready indicator 4 and the iron lamp indicator 10 flashes green. Now the iron has reached the chosen temperature and is ready for steaming. This may take 5-10 minutes depending on the water level.

Dry ironing:

Note:

If you do not push the steam button 12 for 11 minutes you will hear a warning signal. If the steam button 12 is not pushed for one more minute the Auto-Shut-Off function will be activated.

Dry ironing is possible by not pushing the steam button 12 after the heating-up time. For dry ironing you can start when the iron lamp indicator 10 flashes green, no matter how the steam-ready indicator 4 looks like.

- Please consider the above table in which you can find the recommended steam adjustment for each temperature setting.

- To get an ideal steam result select the “• • •” temperature.

- Push the steam button 12 for steaming.

• Usually ironing is done with the steam botton.

- Never point the first steam emission towards the garment you are ironing, it may happen that condensed water from the iron cord 21 will come out of the iron soleplate 13. After turning the appliance on or after a long pause, or after refilling the boiler direct the first steam jet toward the air or toward a piece of cloth but not on the garment to be ironed, so that any condensed water still in the iron may be expelled without staining the garment.

- If is not emitted check if the steam selection knob 8 is turned open.

Hint:

To get an ideal ironing result, iron with steam forwards and without steam backwards to fix the crease.

Ironing with permanent steam:

SILVERCREST SDBC 3.5 A1 - Ironing with permanent steam: - 1

Warning:

The permanent steam function should not be used whilst the iron is heating up, otherwise hot water and steam will come out of the iron soleplate 13 and you may burn yourself.

- The permanent steam function is activated by pushing the steam button 12 and pulling the slider lock backwards, so the steam button is locked on.

- Permanent steam is used only for vertical ironing or very hard to iron textiles.

- Just use the permanent steam function for a few seconds. If you use it too long waterdrops can appear with steam on your textiles.

Vertical ironing:

SILVERCREST SDBC 3.5 A1 - Vertical ironing: - 1

Warning:

Never iron clothes which are being worn by persons, because you may cause scalding.

- When using the steam bottom or permanent steam, always iron from the top downwards.

- Touch the textiles very gently with the iron.

- If you iron delicate textiles keep the iron soleplate 13 a few centimetres far from the textile.

Water refilling:

Refilling during ironing is not possible.

When the water level warning indicator 5 flashes red you have to refill with water. Switch off the steam ironing centre with the main power switch 7 unplug the power cable 15 and follow the steps in chapter 7.

Functions of the active ironing board:

Note:

  • If you have selected the suction or blowing function, this will work permanently. It can be switched off by selection the "0" position on the function switch 6.
  • In order to avoid needless cooling of the ironing surface, select the “0” position whenever you have ironing breaks (i.e. for moving or replacing the clothes)

Heated ironing surface:

The heated ironing surface 20 dries your clothes during the ironing and also any condensation inside the ironing board so the ironing time gets shorter and the economic lifetime of the board gets longer.

Suction:

Turn the function switch 6 to position "I" to activate the suction mode.

The suction function allows the following:

  • fixing textiles on the ironing surface 20
→ flat clothes do not slide off the ironing surface 20.
  • takes steam out of the textiles and the cover of the ironing board.
→ faster drying and shorter ironing time.
    • cools the cloth and fixes the fibres.
→ faster drying and better ironing result.

SILVERCREST SDBC 3.5 A1 - Suction: - 1

natural_image Close-up of a device control panel with buttons and a labeled 'Suction' text (no other readable symbols or text)

Blowing:

Turn the function switch 6 to position "II" to activate the blowing mode.

The blowing function allows:

• ironing on an air cushion
→ crease-free ironing of delicate and difficult ironing textiles.
→ no marks from the lower to the upper layer when ironing a doubled textile (i.e. embroidery, seams, wrinkles, ...).

SILVERCREST SDBC 3.5 A1 - Blowing: - 1

natural_image Close-up of a computer control panel with a highlighted button and 'Blowing' text (no other symbols or labels visible)

“O”- Position:

When the function switch 6 is set on the "0" position, only the heating is on. The suction and blowing function are off.

Auto-Shut-Off function

Note:

Do not use the Auto-Shut-Off function to switch the steam ironing centre off after an ironing session. For that purpose use the main power switch ⑦ only.

The steam ironing centre has an Auto-Shut-Off function to save energy.

If you do not push the steam button 12 for 11 minutes you can hear a warning signal. If you do not push the steam button 12 for one more minute the steam ironing centre will automatically switch off. The Auto-Shut-Off indicator 3 flashes blue. If you want to restart the steam ironing centre, switch the unit off and on again by pushing the main power 7. When the iron lamp indicator 10 and the steam-ready indicator 4 flash green the unit is ready for use.

10. After ironing

Disassembly:

  • Put the iron on the rest pad 2.
  • Leave the equipment switched on for a few minutes after the ironing session in order to dry the residual condensed steam inside the ironing board 20.
  • Switch off the steam ironing centre with the main power switch ^7 , unplug the power cord ^15 and wait until it has completely cooled down at least 30 minutes).
  • When the iron is completely cold (after at least 30 minutes) unplug the iron cord ^14 . Now you can store it.
  • Turn the power cord holder 16 outwards and wind the power cable 15 round it.
    • Take off the iron cord holder ^22 .
  • Lower the ironing board carefully to the floor while pushing the height adjustment lever 25. Block the wheels with a foot to prevent rolling away. Pay attention not to clamp the power cord 15.

Storage:

  • The steam ironing centre can be easily moved on the wheels when it is folded
  • It can be stored vertically, with the wheels on the upper side to prevent rolling away.

11. Cleaning and Care

SILVERCREST SDBC 3.5 A1 - Cleaning and Care - 1

Warning:

Unplug the power cord 15 and wait until the steam ironing centre has completely cooled down before doing any cleaning.

Cleaning:

  • Clean the steam ironing centre with a soft and dry cloth.
  • Do not use any cleaner.
  • Never put the steam ironing centre into water or any other liquids.

Boiler cleaning:

Note:

After cleaning, steam several times over a bucket before next ironing session to get rid of any residual limestone parts in the steam circuit.

You should clean the boiler at least every 4 weeks to remove deposits. For this purpose follow below steps:

  • Assembly the steam ironing centre and put it to the highest position. The iron has not to be conneted.
  • Place a bucket under the drain-plug on the bottom of the ironing board (picture 7).
  • Remove the cover for the drain-plug 17 (picture 8).
  • Open and remove the drain-plug with the special key 18 (picture 9). Removing it, water may come out.
  • Slide the iron rest pad 2 outwards.
  • Open the safety cap 1.

Due to the pressure put on the board with the iron, dust and other particles the permeability of the cover to air and steam can be reduced. This reduces the quality of your steam ironing centre performances significantly. It is advisable to wash the cover 4 times a year. Wash at 40^ C without softener.

The cover shall be substituted if the old one is damaged or if after washing the original performances of the ironing board are not resumed.

Covers with metal parts are not suitable to this ironing centre, since they could heat up and be dangerous.

Only original covers allow quality ironing.
