How to turn the Rugged Rukus on and off?

Press the power switch to turn the device on. A blue LED lights up indicating the device is on. To turn off, press the same switch again.

How to pair the Rugged Rukus via Bluetooth?

Make sure the device is on. Press the Bluetooth button to switch to Bluetooth mode. Press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds to activate pairing mode. The LED flashes rapidly and the device beeps. On your device, search for Rugged Rukus in Bluetooth settings and connect.

How to recharge the internal battery?

The battery can be charged in two ways: via the mains adapter (USB cable provided) by connecting the Micro USB (Adaptor) port to a wall outlet, or via the built-in solar panel by exposing the device to sunlight. The LED flashes during charging.

What is the battery life for Bluetooth playback?

Battery life is approximately 8 hours of continuous playback, depending on volume setting and other factors.

How to use the AUX input?

Plug a 3.5mm audio cable into the headphone output of your device and into the AUX IN input on the back of the Rugged Rukus. Turn on the device and press the AUX button to select this source. The AUX LED lights up and music plays.

How to charge a USB device with the Rugged Rukus?

Plug the USB cable of your device into the USB port (9) on the device. Press button (6) to start charging. Press again to stop. The USB LED lights up during charging.

How to check the battery charge level?

Press the button on the lithium-ion battery to display the charge level. The LEDs indicate: 0-25% (1 LED), 26-50% (2 LEDs), 51-75% (3 LEDs), 76-100% (4 LEDs).

What to do if the device does not turn on?

Make sure the battery is charged. Plug in the mains adapter and let it charge for a few minutes. If the problem persists, contact Etón customer service.

How to clean the Rugged Rukus?

CHARGING THE BUILT-IN BATTERY BY THE AC POWER/SOLAR ENERGY

The unit has a built-in Lithium ion battery for portable power when not using the AC/DC power (connected to your smartphone USB AC adaptor - not included, or USB port on your computer). When the adapter is plugged in or the unit is exposed under the sunshine, the unit will start charging. During charging, the Battery Life LED indicator on the display starts blinking.

USB PORT FOR MOBILE DEVICE CHARGING

The USB jack can be used to charge most devices that allow for USB charging (including many mobile phones, smart phones and wireless headsets).

1. Connect one end of the USB cord to your device and the other end to the USB jack of the unit.

2. Press the button to start charging for your device. Press the button again to stop charging.

NOTE: Use the USB power cord that came with your device to connect to the unit. The USB light turns on indicating charging out to USB device

ADJUSTING THE VOLUME LEVEL

Press the and buttons to adjust the volume levels.

1. Press and hold for 3 seconds ON/OFF button to turn on the unit. A single blue Battery Life LED light will turn on to indicate the unit is on.

2. Press the Bluetooth button to switch the sound source to Bluetooth mode:

3. Hold the button for 3 seconds to place the unit in pairing mode. The indicator starts blinking rapidly. Unit will give off two short beeps.

NOTE: The unit beeps once more after the unit is successfully connected.

1. Open the Bluetooth settings menu on your Bluetooth-enabled mobile device or computer and connect it to the Rugged Rukus.
2. Once Bluetooth is connected, select the music and press the button on your device. The unit will playback music automatically.

NOTE: Playback time on built-in battery is ~8 hours, depending on music level and other factors.

PLAYING BACK VIA AUX

You can enjoy the sound from an external device such as a portable digital music player. Be sure to turn off the power of the external device before making any connections. For details, refer to the instruction manual of the device to be connected.

1. Connect any device with headphone or line out jack with a 3.5mm line in cable to AUX IN jack on the back of the unit.
2. Press the button to turn on the unit.
3. Press the AUX button to switch the sound source to AUX mode, if the unit is not in AUX mode.

NOTE: The AUX LED light turns on.

1. Turn on your external device and press button.
2. The unit will play back the music from the external device automatically.
