Frequently Asked Questions - PC 604 X HA HOTPOINT-ARISTON

How to adjust the power of the electric plates?
Turn the corresponding knob clockwise. The positions go from 0 (off) to 6 (maximum power). Positions 1 to 5 are intermediate levels. Consult the table in the manual for usage advice according to the type of cooking.
What types of pans to use on the plates?
Use flat-bottomed pans whose diameter is at least equal to that of the plate. Avoid unstable or deformed pans to ensure good thermal conductivity and avoid risks.
How to clean the hob without damaging it?
Never use abrasive detergents, scouring powder, or steam cleaners. Wipe the stainless steel surface with a damp sponge and dry with a soft cloth. For electric plates, clean them while warm with a damp cloth and lightly oil them.
What to do in case of liquid overflow on the plates?
Wipe any overflow immediately to avoid limescale or aggressive detergent stains. Wait for the plates to cool before cleaning.
Can the appliance be used with an external timer?
No, this appliance is not designed to be turned on by an external timer or remote control system. The manual explicitly states this.
What are the safety distances for installation?
Adjacent furniture higher than the hob must be at least 600 mm away. The hood must be at least 650 mm away. Under a high unit, allow 700 mm. The furniture cutout must be 555 × 475 mm.
How to connect the hob electrically?
The connection must be made by a professional. Use a cable suitable for the power (5600 W) and the type of mains (220-230 V or 380-400 V). The connection diagram is in the manual. The cable must be secured by a cable clamp and the terminal block protected by a cover.
Where is the serial number and model found?
This information is on the rating plate attached to the appliance and/or on its packaging. You will need it in case of assistance.
What to do if a plate does not heat?
Check that the knob is in a position other than 0. If the indicator light does not come on, the power supply may be cut. If the problem persists, contact the assistance service and do not attempt to repair it yourself.
How to turn off the appliance correctly?
Turn all knobs to position 0 (off). Disconnect the power supply by unplugging or operating the omnipolar switch before any cleaning or maintenance.

Connecting the supply cable to the mains

Install a standardised plug corresponding to the load indicated on the data plate.

The appliance must be directly connected to the mains using an omnipolar circuit-breaker with a minimum contact opening of 3 mm installed between the appliance and the mains. The circuit-breaker must be suitable for the charge indicated and must comply with current electrical regulations (the earthing wire must not be interrupted by the circuit-breaker). The supply cable must not come into contact with surfaces with temperatures higher than 50°C.

! The installer must ensure that the correct electrical connection has been made and that it is compliant with safety regulations.

Before connecting to the power supply, make sure that:

  • The appliance is earthed and the plug is compliant with the law.
  • The socket can withstand the maximum power of the appliance, which is indicated on the data plate.
  • The voltage is in the range between the values indicated on the data plate.
  • The socket is compatible with the plug of the appliance. If the socket is incompatible with the plug, ask an authorised technician to replace it. Do not use extension cords or multiple sockets.

! Once the appliance has been installed, the power supply cable and the electrical socket must be easily accessible.

! The cable must not be bent or compressed.
! The cable must be checked regularly and replaced by authorised technicians only (see Assistance).
! The manufacturer declines any liability should these safety measures not be observed.
! If the appliance is to be installed above a built-in electric oven, the electrical connection of the hob and the oven must be carried out separately, both for electrical safety purposes and to make extracting the oven easier.

The manufacturer may not be held liable for any damage resulting from improper, incorrect and unreasonable use of the appliance.

  • Ensure that power supply cables of other electrical appliances do not come into contact with the hot parts of the hob.

  • The openings and slots used for ventilation and heat dispersion must never be covered.
  • Make sure the knobs are in the "•"/" o" position when the appliance is not in use.
  • When unplugging the appliance always pull the plug from the mains socket, do not pull on the cable.
  • Never carry out any cleaning or maintenance work without having unplugged the plug from the mains.

Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information concerning the correct disposal of their old appliance.

Practical Advice on Using the Electric Hot Plates

In order to avoid heat loss and damage to the hot plate, use cookware with a flat bottom the diameter of which is not less than that of the hot plate.

SettingSetting
0Off
1Cooking vegetables, fish
2Cooking potatoes (using steam) soups, chickpeas, beans.
3Continuing the cooking of large quantities of food, minestrone.
4For roasting (average)
5For roasting (above average)
6For browning and reaching a boil in a short time

! Before using the hot plates for the first time, you should heat them at maximum temperature for approximately 4 minutes, without any pans. During this initial stage, their protective coating hardens and reaches its maximum resistance.

Switching the appliance off

Disconnect your appliance from the electricity supply before carrying out any work on it.

Cleaning the appliance

! Do not use abrasive or corrosive detergents, stain removers, anti-rust products, powder detergents or sponges with abrasive surfaces: these may scratch the surface.
! Never use steam cleaners or pressure cleaners on the appliance.
- It is usually enough to wash the hob with a damp sponge and dry it with absorbent kitchen roll.
- The electric hobs should be cleaned using a damp cloth and then rubbed with oil while still warm.
- Stainless steel may become marked if it comes into contact with very hard water or harsh detergents (containing phosphorous) for long periods of time. After cleaning, it is advisable to rinse thoroughly and dry. It is also recommended that drops of water be dried.
