USER MANUAL WK 3331 CLATRONIC

General Safety Instructions Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.

  • The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fi t for commer- cial use. Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
  • When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
  • Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the device off. Remove the plug from the socket.
  • The device and the mains lead have to be checked regularly for signs of damage. If damage is found the device must not be used.
  • Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by a qualifi ed person and with a cable of the same type.
  • Use only original spare parts.

Do not exceed the MAX mark when fi lling, otherwise the water may boil over and cause burns!

  • The water level must be between the MAX. and MIN. marks!
  • Use only cold water when fi lling.
  • Use the appliance only on a level work surface.
  • Always ensure that the lid is tightly closed.
  • Please do not open the lid when the water is boiling.
  • Do not move the device and do not touch it when it is work- ing.
  • Only use the kettle with the accompanying base.
  • Switch the machine off before removing it from the base.
  • The base and exterior of the machine must not become wet. Instructions Preparation Before using for the fi rst time, boil fresh water at least three times in the appliance. Use only water without any additives or ingredients. Mains Lead Completely unwind the length of mains lead that you require from the bottom section of the base. Please ensure that the mains lead does not become tangled up. NOTE: Always use fresh water. Use

1. Place the machine on a fl at surface.

2. Open the kettle by fi rst pressing the catch in the lid in the

direction of the arrow and then pulling the lead upwards. Then fi ll in the water. Please only fi ll up to the maximum (MAX) mark. You can read the fi lling level on the water level indicator of the kettle.

3. Close the lid until you hear it lock in place.

4. Place the kettle fl ush on the base.

5. Electrical connection

  • Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to use is the same as that of the machine. Details are to be found on the label on the base.
  • Only connect the machine to a properly installed 230 V, 50 Hz safety socket.

6. Switch on the kettle by pressing the switch. The control lamp

in the switch lights up.

7. After boiling has fi nished the kettle switches off automati-

cally, or you can push the switch upwards to interrupt or stop the boiling process.

  • If you remove the device from the base without pushing the switch up beforehand, the kettle remains switched on. Always switch the device off before you remove it from the base! Please also ensure that it is switched off when you put it back on the base.

WARNING: DANGER OF SCALDING!

  • When pouring the water out, keep the lid closed.
  • During operation the housing becomes hot. Do not touch it and allow the device to cool down before storing it away. Switching off

  • Rinse the water container out with clean water. Then dry it off with a cloth.
  • Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth.
  • There is a permanent fi lter in the spout. In order to clean the fi lter, pull it out with the lid open. Rinse out the fi lter with run- ning water. Reinsert it, taking note of the guide mechanism. Decalcifi cation
  • The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on the hardness of the water and on how often the appliance is used.
  • If the machine switches off before the water boils, it probably needs to be decalcifi ed.
  • Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available decalcifi cation agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use the quantities stated in the instructions. NOTE: After descaling the device boil fresh water in it several times (approximately 3-4 times) in order to remove any residues. Do not consume this water. Troubleshooting
  • It is not possible to switch the machine on. Possible Cause: After being used without or with too little water the machine has not cooled down suffi ciently. Remedy: Allow the machine to cool down for 15 min.
  • The machine switches off before the water has boiled. Possible Cause: The heating element is covered in scale or the electrical circuit of the power socket is overloaded. Remedy: Descale the machine as instructed. Check the mains connection.
  • The machine does not switch off. Possible Cause: The lid is not closed or the fi lter is not inserted. Remedy: Close the lid until it locks in place or re-insert the fi lter.
