How to install the Aqara DW-S02D detector?

Install the compatible Matter hub, then press and hold the reset button on the detector for 5 seconds. Release within 3 seconds when the light flashes. Open the Matter app, scan the QR code or enter the setup code, and wait for the device to join the network.

Which hubs are compatible with the DW-S02D?

The detector requires a compatible Matter hub (Matter border router). It can work with Aqara hubs that support Matter as well as other Matter hubs (e.g., Apple HomePod, Google Nest Hub, etc.).

What is the battery life?

Battery life depends on usage, but with a quality CR123A battery, it can last up to 2 years under normal conditions. The low power consumption of the Thread protocol contributes to this longevity.

How to know if the battery is low?

The Matter app or hub will notify a low battery level. The detector may also emit a sound (if supported) or flash to indicate a discharged battery.

Can the DW-S02D be used outdoors?

No, this product is designed for indoor use only. Do not expose it to moisture, rain, or extreme temperatures. Operating humidity is limited to 95 % RH without condensation.

What to do if the detector does not connect?

Check that the Matter hub is powered on and in range. Reset the detector by pressing the button for 5 seconds, then retry the pairing procedure. Ensure the QR code is valid and the app is up to date.

How to reset the device?

Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds. Release within 3 seconds when the light flashes. The device will then search for a Matter network to be paired again.

Can the detector be used with Apple HomeKit?

Yes, via the Matter protocol. If your Matter hub is HomeKit compatible (e.g., Apple TV, HomePod), you can add the detector to the Home app and create automations.

What is the sensor range?

Range depends on the environment. Indoors, Thread offers a range of about 30 meters between the detector and the hub, but it may vary depending on obstacles (walls, furniture).

How to clean the detector?

Use a dry soft cloth to wipe off dust. Do not use water, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as they could damage the device.

USER MANUAL DW-S02D Aqara

Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2 is a sensor based on the Thread wireless communication protocol, with built-in high-precision Hall sensor, which can detect the opening and closing status of objects such as doors, windows, drawers, closets, etc. The Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2 can perform multiple intelligent scenarios in conjunction with the Matter-compatible Hubs or other devices based on the automatic condition of detecting the changes in the opening and closing status of doors and windows.

• This product needs to be used with the equipment with the function of the Matter

Border RouterHubs.

Quick conneciton of the device

1. Please make sure you have the Matter-compatible app and Matter-compatible Thread Border Router.
2. Remove the insulating pull tab. The indicator will start breathing.
3. Open the Matter-compatible app and scan the Matter QR Code on the manual or package, or enter the Matter Setup Code printed on the product to add the device to the app.

Please note: If the indicator is not breathing, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds until the LED indicator starts blinking and release it. The device will enter the pairing mode.
