1. INTENDED USE OF MULTIFUNCTION SANDER
This machine is intended to be used for dry sanding with suitable grained abrasive papers. It is suitable for surface grinding on wood, metal, plastic and painted surfaces, removal of layers of old paint, intermediate grinding and rust removal. Do not use machines, tools and accessories for additional applications (see manufacturer's instructions) for works other than those for which they are designed for. All other applications are expressly ruled out.
2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS

WARNING! Read all safety warnings and all instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all
instruction slisted below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
SAVE ALL WARNING AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1. WORK AREA SAFETY
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2. ELECTRICAL SAFETY
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
3. PERSONAL SAFETY
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the offposition before connecting to power source and /or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
h) Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.
2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
4. POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
5. SERVICE
a) Have your power tool serviced by qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
MULTIFUNCTION SANDER SAFETY WARNINGS
- WARNING Contact with or inhalation of harmful / toxic dusts arising from sanding lead painted surfaces, woods and metals can endanger the health of operator and bystanders.
2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
TAKE SPECIAL CARE TO GUARD AGAINST THESE DUSTS, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

- Children and pregnant women must not enter the work area.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke in the work area.
ANY PRE1960 BUILDING MAY HAVE PAINT CONTAINING LEAD ON WOOD OR METAL SURFACES. IF YOU SUSPECT WORKPIECE CONTAINS LEAD SEEK PROFESSIONAL ADVICE.
- Some wood and wood type products especially MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) can produce dust that can be hazardous to your health. We recommend the use of an approved face mask with replaceable filters when using this machine in addition to using the dust extraction facility.
- When using the sander with metal be aware that sparks may ignite the dust in the dust extraction system or vacuum cleaner.
- This sander is designed for single handed operation. Adopt a stable stance and make sure that the mains cable is prevented from coming into contact with the machine or getting caught up on other objects preventing completion of the sanding pass.
- Ensure that you have removed foreign objects such as nails and screws from the workpiece before commencing sanding.
- Don't use it for wet sanding, for dry sanding only.
- Where possible, secure smaller workpieces to prevent it from moving under the sander.
- Do not force the sander, let the tool do the work at a reasonable speed. Overloading will occur if too much pressure is applied and the motor slows resulting in inefficient sanding and possible damage to the sander motor.
- Do not continue to use worn, torn or heavily clogged sanding paper.
- Do not touch the moving sanding paper.

Switch off the tool, unplug the power cord, and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before working on the tool.
- Lift up the edge of the sandpaper and pull it off the pad.
- Clean the sanding pad.
- Press the new sandpaper firmly on the pad. Align the holes in the sandpaper with the holes in the pad for best dust extraction.
5. BEFORE PUTTING THE EQUIPMENT INTO OPERATION
ATTACHING SANDING PAPER

Always ensure that the machine is switched off and plug is removed from the power point before making any adjustment.
- Select the required grade of sanding paper.
- Remove any dust or debris from the hook and loop of the base.
- To attach hook & loop type sanding paper simply align the holes in the sanding paper with the holes in the sanding base and press firmly into place.
- To remove the sanding paper, peel it away from the base.

WARNING: Do not continue to use the sander with a sanding paper that is overworn or damaged.

WARNING: Do not use the same sanding paper for wood and metal. Metal particles become embedded in the sanding paper and will scour den surface.

WARNING: Take care to regularly clean out the build up of dust on the base underneath the sanding paper and not to let the sanding paper completely down before replacing it. Failure to observe these two suctionary measures can lead to damage to the hooks and loops on the and the sanding paper will not attach properly.

WARNING: Clean the air vents on your power tool regularly. The motor's fan will draw the dust inside the housing and excessive insulation of powdered metal may cause electrical hazards.

NOTE: Hook and loop sanding base is not a warranty item.
REPLACING THE SANDING PAD
- To replace the pad, first remove the sandpaper.
- Undo the screw holding the sanding pad in place.
- Align the new pad so that it fits in the recess on the sole.
- Fasten the pad with the screw.
- Press on a suitable sandpaper.
5. BEFORE PUTTING THE EQUIPMENT INTO OPERATION
Dust extraction
The tool can be used with the dust collector or dust extractor. To use a dust extractor, do as follows:
- Release the dust collector from the tool.
- Put the adapter in the tool.
- Turn the adapter clockwise to fasten it.
- Connect the dust extractor to the adapter.

WARNING. Do not use the dust extraction box when sanding metal. The hot metal particles could cause residual wood dust or the box itself to catch fire.
6. OPERATION
STARTING/STOPPING
NOTE: Check that the mains voltage matches the rated voltage on the type plate before connecting the tool to the mains.
- Start the tool by pressing the power switch.
- For continuous operation, press the lock button when the power switch is pressed. Switch off the tool by pressing in and then releasing the power switch.

NOTE: Always lift the sander from the work before switching on or switch off.
COARSE SANDING
Use coarse sandpaper. Press lightly for best results.
SANDING
- Place the tool with the full surface of the sandpaper against the surface to be sanded.
- Apply an even pressure during the work. Pressing harder will not speed up the work, but will put more strain on the tool and the sandpaper instead.
- The sanding rate and pattern mainly depend on the coarseness of the sandpaper, the speed of the pad, and the pressure.
6. OPERATION

WARNING : Don't use this machine on plaster.
Wear safety goggles and dust mask.
Where possible, secure smaller workpiece to prevent them from moving under the sander. Lower the sander in contact with the workpiece without pressure and then start the sander. Move the sander slowly over the surface of the workpiece in a circular or curved motion with an even, moderate pressure.
If there are still scratches on your work after sanding, try either of the following:
-- Go back to a coarser grit and sand the marks out before recommencing with the original choice or,
-- Try using new sanding sheet of the same grit to eliminate the unwanted marks before progressing to a finer grit and finishing the job.
FINE SANDING
- Use fine sandpaper.
- Press moderately hard and move the tool with a circular action, or forward and back, and across, the workpiece.
- Do not tilt the tool, this will leave marks in the sanded surface.
- After finishing the work, switch off the tool and lift if off the workpiece.
PAD BRAKE
The pad brake reduces the speed when the tool is unloaded, to reduce the risk of leaving marks in the workpiece when the tool is applied.
If the speed with no load increases in time, this means the pad brake is worn and must be replaced by an authorised service centre.
MAINTENANCE
NOTE: Switch off the tool, unplug the power cord, and wait until all moving parts have completely stopped before working on the tool.
- Keep the ventilation openings and motor housing clean and free from dirt and dust.
- Clean the tool with a cloth or sponge, moistened with a mild detergent. Do not use abrasive or solvent-based detergents, this can damage the plastic parts.
- Never immerse the tool in liquid or allow liquid to enter the tool - risk of electric shock and personal injury.
- Wipe the tool with a dry and clean cloth.
6. OPERATION
- Switch off the tool and unplug the plug. Check that the lock button is not pressed in.
- Pull the dust collector straight out. Hold the bottom part of the dust collector in one hand and the black cover in the other
- hand.
- Lift up the black cover.
