Before first use
- Before first use, plug the unit and turn the Temperature Control knob to the highest temperature for 5 minutes (without placing food). This will burn off the "new" smell. A small amount of smoke may be visible.
- Turn off and unplug the unit. Allow the unit to cool down completely before cleaning ( Cleaning and maintenance).
The unit is now ready for use.
Use
Placing and preparing the unit
- Place the unit on a dry, level, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Use a non-slip heat resistant mat under the unit if required.
- Attach the drip tray on the front of the unit to catch excess grease and drippings.
- You can unfold the tilt legs to increase the tilt of the grill over the drip tray 1. This allows for better drainage of excess fats and oils into the drip tray.
- Open the storage locking clip to unlock the handle and open the grill. Do not use the storage locking clip during cooking.
- Lightly grease the grill plates with cooking oil or a mixture of cooking oil and butter.
Using the grill
- Close the grill by lowering the handle.
- Make sure the Temperature Control knob is turned to the off position, then plug the power cable into a suitable mains socket. The red power indicator light will illuminate to indicate that the unit is connected to the power supply.
- Turn the Temperature Control knob to the desired cooking temperature, and allow the unit to preheat. The green heating indicator light will illuminate to indicate that the unit is heating up to the set temperature, and will turn off when the set temperature is reached.
- When the green heating indicator light turns off, lift the cool-touch handle to open the grill.
- Place the prepared food on the bottom grill plate.
- Close the grill using the cool-touch handle and apply light pressure on the handle for about 15 to 30 seconds. The floating hinges will adjust to the height of the food and the weight of the top grill plate will press the food down gradually and evenly during cooking.

NOTE:
The green heating indicator light will cycle on and off during cooking while the unit maintains the set temperature.
-
Grill until food is cooked or heated through. Grilling time will depend on the type and thickness of the food and personal taste.
-
Check for doneness while grilling by lifting the cool-touch handle. Check the grilling progress about every 2 minutes, as the food will cook quickly on both sides at the same time.
- Remove the food using a soft-edged spatula or tongs.
- Once you have finished grilling, turn the Temperature Control knob to the off position and unplug the unit from the mains socket. Always unplug the unit when it is not in use and before leaving it unattended.

WARNING! Risk of burns.
- Do not move or clean the unit until it has cooled down completely.
- Accessible surfaces and surfaces marked with this symbol on the unit become hot during use and remain hot for some time after use. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- Hot oils, fats, or juices may splatter while cooking. Use caution and maintain a safe distance. Use heat-resistant gloves if required.

Important:
- Do not use sharp or metal utensils on the unit. Use heat-resistant soft-edged utensils for cooking, such as nylon, silicone, or wooden utensils.
- Never cut foods on the cooking surfaces as this can scratch the non-stick coating.
- Do not rest utensils on the grill plate.
- Never use the unit to defrost or cook frozen food, as thermal shock can deform the grill plates or damage the unit.
Tips for using the panini grill
Always preheat the grill until the green heating indicator light turns off.
- This unit heats up and cooks fairly quickly. For a more efficient grilling process, prepare all ingredients before turning the grill on.
It is not necessary to use butter or margarine on the outside of the sandwiches, although applying a thin layer to the outside of the bread will speed up browning and enhance the flavour.
- Most types of bread can be used. Bread with high sugar content will brown more quickly.
- Do not use non-stick cooking sprays.
- The cooking time depends on the thickness of the cut, type of meat/food, and grill temperature. When grilling meats or vegetables with the unit, cut them into thin slices to ensure that they can be cooked properly.
- Remove excess moisture or marinade from ingredients before placing them on the grill.
- Do not overfill the grill to avoid undercooking the food. Cook in batches if necessary.
