Before connecting the appliance, please check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds with the main voltage in your home.

Do not use outdoors. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse the appliance, its cord or lead in water or any other liquid. Always place the appliance on a flat, level surface. 28/2/2022 9:09 AM BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME Carefully unpack the appliance and remove all packaging materials.

Before using your espresso maker for the first time, clean all removable parts in warm soapy water , and rinse well before replacing. Before brewing your first cup of espresso, please clean your espresso maker as follows: 1. Place the appliance on dry, flat and heat-resistant surface. 2. Fill the water tank with fresh cold water to the MAX level line.

You can open the water tank cover and pour water into the tank.

OK Open the water tank cover. Grasp the water tank handle and lift the water tank out of the appliance.

Fill the water tank up to the MAX level line.

3. Replace the water tank to its original position. Close the water tank cover.

Press the handle to make sure the water tank is in place.

IMPORTANT: It is normal that there may be some water in the area under the water tank. Please regularly dry this area using a clean sponge.

4. Place an empty (do not add coffee) double shot filter into the filter holder.

5. Insert and lock the filter holder into the appliance following the detailed instructions in the chapter: Brewing Espresso. 6. Place a container under the 2-spout brew head. 7. Plug in the appliance. 8. Press the ON/OFF button . • The indicator light on this button will flash. • For the first use, the water may not come out. You may turn the steam knob anticlockwise to the maximum position. When the indicator light on the ON/OFF button stops flashing, press the manual button . When the steam tube dispenses water, press again to stop dispensing water. Turn the steam knob clockwise to the OFF position. OFF

9. Wait for the indicator light on the ON/OFF button stops flashing, and then press

. • The water will begin to flow into the container. 10. When the container is full, press to stop the flow of water to the container. 11. Empty the container and the water collected in the drip tray. 12. Repeat this process to brew 2 or 3 containers of water. • You are now ready to brew espresso.

28/2/2022 9:09 AM BREWING ESPRESSO WHAT IS ESPRESSO ?

Espresso originated in Italy. It is made by forcing out a small amount of nearly boiling water under pressure through finely ground coffee beans. It is known as a shot and is intense in flavour. 1. Lift the water tank from the appliance. 2. Fill the water tank with fresh cold water between the MAX and MIN level lines. 3. Close the water tank cover and place it back in the appliance ensuring it fits tightly. 4. Place the 1 or 2 cup filter into the filter holder depending on how many shots of espresso you would like.

5. Fill the filter with fresh, fine ground espresso coffee (do not overfill).

1. Use the measuring spoon to measure ground espresso coffee and add to the filter holder. • For one cup, fill the filter with a level measure of coffee (approx. 7g). • For two cups, fill the filter with two level measures of coffee. 2. Use the flat side of the measuring spoon to tamp down the coffee evenly. • To obtain a strong coffee, tamp down the coffee firmly. • To obtain a lighter coffee, tamp down the coffee gently.

3. Remove any excess coffee from the rim of the filter holder to ensure proper fit under brew head.

6. Attach the filter holder to the appliance.

1. Place the filter holder underneath the brew head so that the filter holder handle is aligned with the open lock icon on the appliance and fits into the groove.

2. Turn handle to the right until the filter holder handle is facing front and aligned with the closed lock symbol on the appliance.

Danger of burns ! To avoid sprays, do not remove the filter holder handle during the brewing process. 7. Place 1 or 2 espresso cups under the 2-spout brewing head. 8. Press the ON/OFF button . • The indicator light on this button will flash. 9. Wait for the indicator light to stop flashing, then you can press the button , or to prepare espresso. • To brew one single shot, press . Espresso will begin to flow into the cup or cups. After about 20s, the appliance will automatically stop working.

28/2/2022 9:09 AM You can also change the brewing time up to about 44s. a. Press and hold for about 3 seconds.

• The indicator light on the button will illuminate and the pump starts timing your shots. Then the indicator light will flash. b. When the desired brewing time is reached, press again to confirm the setting. c. Wait for the ON/OFF indicator light to stop flashing and then press to start brewing. When the set brewing time has elapsed, the appliance will stop the brewing cycle. d. To cancel the brewing time setting, unplug the appliance and wait for a while before plugging in. • To brew a double shot, press . Espresso will begin to flow into the cup or cups. After about 40s, the appliance will automatically stop working. You can also change the brewing time up to about 84s. a. Press and hold for about 3 seconds. • The indicator light on the button will illuminate and the pump starts timing your shots. Then the indicator light will flash. b. When the desired brewing time is reached, press again to confirm the setting. c. Wait for the ON/OFF indicator light to stop flashing and then press to start brewing. When the set brewing time has elapsed, the appliance will stop the brewing cycle. d. To cancel the brewing time setting, unplug the appliance and wait for a while before plugging in. •

To customize the brewing to your preference, press

. Espresso will begin to flow into the cup or cups. When the desired amount of coffee has been brewed, press again to stop the brewing process.

AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF In order to save energy, the appliance will automatically turn off when it has not been used for about 30 minutes.

10. Before removing the filter holder, allow the appliance to cool for at least 5 minutes.

11. Turn the filter holder handle to the left to remove the filter holder. 12. Discard used espresso grounds. Allow the filter holder and filter to cool thoroughly before touching. 13. Wash both the filter holder and filter with a soft cloth or brush in warm soapy water. Rinse them well. OVERHEATING AND OVERPRESSURE PROTECTION Your appliance has a double safety system to protect the appliance from overheating and overpressure. • In case that the appliance has overheated, it will stop working. Unplug it and let it cool before using it again. • The appliance is equipped with a safety valve. The safety valve will release the steam pressure from the boiler if the pressure switch fails to cut off the element.

28/2/2022 9:09 AM PREPARING YOUR CAPPUCCINO Cappuccino is a classic drink from Italy that is known for its milk foam frothy top.

The milk to coffee ratio of the cappuccino is: • 1/3 Espresso • 1/3 Steamed Milk • 1/3 Milk Foam 1. Make sure the water level in the water tank is above the MIN level line. 2. Prepare espresso in a large cup. 3. Fill a jug half full with fresh, cold semi-skimmed milk and place it next to the appliance. IMPORTANT: When frothing milk, the volume of milk will double. The top portion will be foam and the bottom portion will be milk. 4. Swing the steam tube to the side of the appliance.

5. Press the ON/OFF button .

• The indicator light on this button will flash. 6. Make sure that the steam knob is in the OFF position. OFF

7. Wait for the indicator light on the ON/OFF button stops flashing, press the steam button .

8. Place an empty container underneath the steam tube and then turn the steam knob anticlockwise towards the maximum steam position. • Let the steam run until a small amount of water has run through the appliance, which clears any residual water from the steam tube. 9. When water is discharged, turn the steam knob clockwise to the OFF position. 10. Place the jug with milk under the steam tube.

The tip of the steam tube should be just below the surface of the milk.

11. Wait for the ON/OFF indicator light to stop flashing and then press the steam button . 12. Turn the steam knob anticlockwise to the maximum position and slowly move the jug upwards to obtain creamier foam.

13. Once the volume of milk has doubled, fully immerse the steam tube into the mik to heat it up to 66°C.

• You will know when the milk is hot enough because the jug will be extremely hot to touch. • Do not boil the milk otherwise this will spoil the flavour. 14. Once the jug has fully heated, stop the steam by turning the steam knob clockwise to the OFF position. 15. Remove the jug and wipe the steam tube with a damp cloth to clean.

16. Pour the milk into the cups with espresso and then spoon the thick foam on top.

Sprinkle cocoa powder or cinnamon as desired.

Enjoy your Cappuccino ! NOTE: • To prepare more than one cappuccino, first prepare all the necessary cups of espresso, then steam the milk for all the cappuccinos together. • Before continue using the steam function, allow the appliance to cool for at least 10 minutes and then follow the steps below: 1. Wait for the ON/OFF indicator light to stop flashing and then press the manual button . 2. Turn the steam knob anticlockwise towards the maximum position. 3. Wait for the steam tube to dispense water and then press to stop dispensing water. 4. Wait for the ON/OFF indicator light to stop flashing and then press the steam button . The appliance is ready to use steam function. What to do if you want to brew Espresso after frothing milk ? Please follow the steps below otherwise the coffee dispensed will taste burnt. a.

Place a container underneath the brew head without the filter holder in place. b. Wait for the ON/OFF indicator light to stop flashing and then press the manual button

. c. Let hot water come out of the brew head until the ON/OFF indicator light start flashing. d. Then you can follow the Brewing Espresso instructions.

It is made up of espresso and steamed milk, with a 5 mm layer of foamed milk on top. 1 espresso + 1.5 or 4 steamed milk + 0.5 foamed milk Espresso Macchiato It is an Espresso drink with a small amount of foamed milk. In Italian, Macchiato means “stained” or “spotted”. 1 espresso + 0.5 foamed milk Espresso Con Panna It comes from Italy and is an espresso drink topped with whipped cream. 1 espresso + 0.5 whipped cream Caffé Mocha It is an espresso based coffee drink with hot milk, chocolate and whipped cream 1 espresso + 0.5 chocolate syrup + 1 steamed milk + 0.5 whipped cream

1. Turn the appliance on by pressing the ON/OFF button . • The indicator light on this button will flash. 2. Wait for the ON/OFF indicator light to stop flashing. 3. Place a container under the steam tube. 4. Press the manual button and at the same time turn the steam knob anticlockwise. • Hot water will come out of the steam tube. 5. To interrupt delivery of hot water, press again and turn the steam knob clockwise to the OFF position.

28/2/2022 9:09 AM CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Always make sure the appliance is unplugged and allow to cool before cleaning.

Allow all parts to cool thoroughly before touching. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse the appliance, cord or plug in water or other liquids. Do not use chemical or abrasive cleaning agents. •

After each use, remove the filter holder and filters, discard used coffee grounds. Clean the filter holder and filters with a soft cloth or brush in warm soapy water. Rinse under running water and dry thoroughly.

• Wipe the brew head with a damp cloth to remove any coffee particles. • Warning: After use, the steam tube can be very hot, please wait a few minutes before handling it. Wipe the steam tube after each use with a cloth. Make sure that the hole at the bottom of the steam tube is open and clean. If it is blocked, use the end of a paper clip to clear it. The protective sleeve of the steam tube can be pulled down from the steam tube for easy cleaning. Clean it under running water and dry with a clean cloth before fitting it tightly over the steam tube. • •

Remove the drip tray cover and then remove the drip tray to empty it. Clean them under running water and dry with a clean cloth.

To clean the water tank, remove the tank from the appliance to

discard the remaining water. Wash the water tank with soapy water, rinse it well and wipe it dry.

Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use metal scouring pads or abrasive cleaners. Dry and replace disassembled parts.

DESCALING After regular use, hard water can cause mineral build up in the appliance, which will affect the operation of the appliance, the brewing flow, brewing temperature, and the taste of the espresso.

The frequency of descaling depends on the hardness of the water used. It is recommended to descale your appliance every 60 or 90 days. 1. Fill the water tank with a solution of cold water and descaler according to the instructions on the package. 2. Attach empty filter and filter holder. 3. Place a large container under both the brew head and the steam tube. 4. Plug in the appliance. Ensure that the steam knob is set at the OFF position. 5. Press the ON/OFF button and wait for the indicator light on this button to stop flashing. 6. Press the manual button and let half the solution of water and descaler run through the brew head. Press again to stop the flow. 7. Wait for the ON/OFF indicator light to stop flashing and press the steam button . 8. Turn the steam knob anticlockwise towards the maximum position to allow the remaining solution to run through the steam tube to clean any residue left in the tube from the milk steaming process. Then turn the steam knob clockwise to the OFF position.

9. After descaling, remove the water and rinse thoroughly then refill with fresh cold water.

10. Repeat above steps 2 or 3 times using cold water to rinse any residual descaling solution. 11. Unplug the appliance from the mains socket.

Coffee comes out around the edge of the filter holder.

The filter holder will not attach to the appliance.

The pump is very noisy.

The “crema” of the coffee is light in colour.

The “crema” of the coffee is dark in colour.

The spout holes are blocked.

Clean the spout holes.

The coffee powder is too fine.

Please replace it with the coffee powder which is relevantly coarse.

There is too much coffee in the filter holder.

Reduce the quantity of coffee using the measuring spoon.

The boiler outlet seal is worn.

Please contact the authorized service center.

The filter has been overfilled.

Use the supplied measuring spoon and use the correct filter.

The ON/OFF indicator light is flashing and the appliance is not ready for brewing coffee.

Wait until the ON/OFF indicator light stops flashing. Then press the 1-cup, 2-cup or manual button.

The filter holder is not inserted during the preheating time.

Make sure the filter holder is in place during preheating time.

Preheat the cups with hot water or place them on the warming plate.

Water tank is empty.

Refill the water tank with water.

Water tank is not securely in place.

Press down firmly on the tank.

The ground coffee has not been tamped sufficiently.

Tamp the coffee harder.

There is insufficient ground coffee.

Use a larger quantity.

The coffee grind is too coarse.

Use only ground coffee for espresso machines.

The ground coffee has been tamped too hard.

Tamp the coffee with less force.

There is too much ground coffee.

Decrease the quantity used.

The boiler outlet or filter is blocked.

Clean the outlet and the filter.

The coffee grind is too fine.

Use only ground coffee for espresso machines.

No water comes out from the pump.

Steam tube is blocked.

Clean the steam tube using a clip and descale the steam tube following the DESCALING instructions.

Water tank is not securely in place.

Press down firmly on the tank.

There is air in the steam tube.

When the pump is working, turn the steam knob anticlockwise to dispense appropriate amount of water.
