The yellow/green earth cable must not be cut off by the switch.

The Manufacturer declines all responsibility for failure to comply with the safety regulations.

EXTERNAL EXHAUST HOOD (SUCTION)

FALMEC MAIA - EXTERNAL EXHAUST HOOD (SUCTION) - 1

In this version, the fumes and vapors are discharged outside through the exhaust pipe.

To this end, the hood outlet fitting must be connected via a pipe to an external output.

The outlet pipe must have:

  • a diameter not less than that of the hood fitting.
  • a slight downward slope (drop) in the horizontal sections to prevent condensation from flowing back into the motor, and the minimum required number of bends.
  • the minimum required length to avoid vibrations and reduce the suction performance of the hood.

You are required to insulate the pipes if they pass through cold environments. In the presence of motors with 800 m3/h or higher, a check valve is present to prevent external air from flowing back.

Deviation for Germany:

When the kitchen hood is used at the same time as appliances that are powered by energy other than electricity, the negative pressure in the room must not exceed 4 Pa (4 x 10-5 bar).

HOOD WITH INTERNAL RECIRCULATION (FILTERING)

FALMEC MAIA - HOOD WITH INTERNAL RECIRCULATION (FILTERING) - 1

In this model, the air passes through the charcoal filters to be purified and recycled in the environment.

Ensure that the active carbon filters are assembled into the hood; if not, install them as indicated in the assembly instructions.

FALMEC MAIA - HOOD WITH INTERNAL RECIRCULATION (FILTERING) - 2

In this version, the check valve must not be assembled: remove it if it is on the air outlet fitting of the motor.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

METAL ANTI-GREASE FILTERS

It is advised to frequently wash the metal filters (at least once a month) leaving them to soak in boiling water and cleaning solution for 1 hour, taking care not to bend them.

Do not use corrosive, acid or alkaline detergents.

Rinse them well and wait for them to be completely dry before reassembling them.

Washing in a dishwasher is permitted, however, it may cause the filter material to darken: to reduce the possibility of this problem from happening, use low-temperature washes (55°C max.).

To extract and insert the metal anti-grease filters see the assembly instructions.

ACTIVE CARBON FILTERS

These filters retain the odours in the air that passes through them. The purified air is recirculated into the environment.

The active carbon filters must be replaced on average every 3-4 months under normal conditions of use.

See assembly instructions to replace the active carbon filters.

LIGHTING

The range hood is equipped with high efficiency, low consumption LED spotlights with an extremely long life-span under normal use conditions.

Any modifications to the electrical system must be carried out only by a qualified electrician.

The maximum length of the screw for fixing the hood (supplied by the manufacturer) is 13 mm. The use of screws that do not comply with these instructions may lead to electrical hazards.

If the device is faulty, do not attempt to repair it yourself. Contact the distributor or an authorized service center for repair.

When installing the hood, unplug the device or use the main switch to disconnect it from the power supply.

SAFETY OF SMOKE EXHAUST

Do not connect the appliance to the smoke ducts used for exhausting fumes from combustion (boilers, fireplaces, etc.).

Before installing the hood, make sure that all applicable regulations regarding the discharge of air outside the premises are complied with.

SAFETY MEASURES FOR THE USER

These safety measures are provided for your safety and for the safety of others. Therefore, we ask you to read them carefully before using or cleaning the appliance.

The manufacturer is not liable for any direct or indirect damage caused to persons, property, or pets due to failure to comply with the instructions given in this manual.

It is important that this manual with instructions is kept with the equipment for future reference when needed.

In case of sale or transfer of the appliance to another person, make sure that the manual is also transferred so that the new user can familiarize themselves with the operation of the hood and the corresponding warnings.

After installing the hood made of stainless steel, it is necessary to clean off any traces of glue from the protective coating and possible traces of lubricating oil. If they are not removed, they may permanently damage the surface of the hood. For this operation, the manufacturer recommends using the cloths included in the delivery kit, which are also available for purchase.

Require original spare parts.

INTENDED USE

The appliance is intended exclusively for extracting fumes generated during cooking in domestic environments, not in professional settings. Any other use, different from this, is considered unacceptable; it may cause harm to persons, property, or pets, and relieves the manufacturer of all liability.

The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, provided they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the appliance and understand the associated dangers. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR OPERATION

Before performing any operation on the system or maintenance, disconnect the device from the power supply by unplugging it from the socket or using the main switch.

Do not touch the hood with wet hands and do not use it barefoot.

When the device is not in use, always check that all electrical components (light, aspirator) are switched off.

The total weight of items placed on or hung from the hood (where provided) must not exceed 1.5 kg.

Watch out for fire hazards during use: hot oil can ignite.

Do not light open flames under the hood.

Do not cook food over an open flame under the hood. Never use the hood without metal grease filters; in this case, grease and dirt will settle in the hood, negatively affecting its operation.

The accessible parts of the hood may become hot when used with cooking appliances.

Do not clean the hood while its parts are still hot. If cleaning is not carried out in accordance with the methods and using the products specified in these instructions, there is a risk of fire.

In case of simultaneous use of other devices (boilers, stoves, fireplaces, etc.) operating on gas or other fuel, provide adequate ventilation of the room where smoke is extracted, in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

INSTALLATION

Section intended for qualified personnel

FALMEC MAIA - INSTALLATION - 1

Before starting the installation of the hood, carefully read the section "SAFETY PRECAUTIONS".

TECHNICAL DATA

The technical data of the extractor hood are given on the labels that are inside the hood.

POSITIONING

The minimum distance between the highest part of the appliance for preparing food and the lowest part of the hood is indicated in the installation instructions.

Usually, when the hood is installed over a gas hob, this distance must be no less than 65 cm (25.6"). However, based on the standard EN60335-2-31 of 11-07-2002 from TC61 (clause 7.12.3 and note 10.11), the minimum distance between the hob surface and the lower part of the hood can be reduced to the mark indicated in the installation instructions.

If the gas hob manufacturer indicates a greater distance, this must be taken into account.

Do not install the hood outdoors or in places where it would be exposed to atmospheric agents (rain, wind, etc.).

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

(This section is intended only for qualified personnel)

FALMEC MAIA - ELECTRICAL CONNECTION - 1

In case:

The manufacturer bears no responsibility in case of improper installation.

Exhaust outlet

Kitchen hood with external exhaust (suction)

FALMEC MAIA - Kitchen hood with external exhaust (suction) - 1

In this version, smoke is expelled through an exhaust duct to the outside.

For this purpose, the hood's exhaust outlet must be connected via a pipe to an external outlet.

The exhaust pipe must have:

- A diameter not less than the diameter of the hood's exhaust outlet. - A slope downwards (fall) for horizontal sections to prevent condensate from entering the motor. - The minimum number of necessary bends.

The minimum possible length to avoid vibrations and reduction of the suction capacity of the hood.

To prevent the return of outside air, it is recommended to install a non-return flap, installed when the flow rate is 800 m3/h or more.

Absence of air inlet:

When operating simultaneously in the room with the kitchen hood and other devices that operate on an energy source other than electricity, the negative pressure inside the room must not exceed 4 Pa (4 x 10-5 bar).

EXTRACTION WITH INTERNAL RECIRCULATION (AIR FILTER)

FALMEC MAIA - EXTRACTION WITH INTERNAL RECIRCULATION (AIR FILTER) - 1

In version 308, the recirculated air passes through activated carbon filters and is then supplied back into the room.

Make sure that the activated carbon filters are installed on the extraction unit; otherwise, install them as

described in the installation instructions.

FALMEC MAIA - EXTRACTION WITH INTERNAL RECIRCULATION (AIR FILTER) - 2

In this version, the valve must be installed. Remove it if it is installed on the air outlet pipe of the motor.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

This section is intended only for qualified personnel.

FALMEC MAIA - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS - 1

The extraction unit can be installed in various configurations.

The general installation steps are common to all types of installations; it is also necessary to follow the steps specifically indicated for each type of installation.

OPERATION

WHEN TO TURN ON THE EXTRACTION UNIT?

The extraction unit should be turned on at least 3 minutes before starting cooking to create an air flow to direct smoke and odors towards the suction surface. After cooking, the extraction unit should be left on until all vapors and odors are completely aspirated. Using the timer function, you can set an automatic shutdown of the extraction unit after 15 minutes of operation.

WHICH SPEED TO SELECT?

Speed I: keeps the air clean with low electricity consumption.

Speed II: normal working conditions.

Speed III: removal of persistent odors and large amounts of steam.

Speed IV: rapid removal of odors and steam.

When to change the filters?

Metal grease filters must be washed every 30 hours of operation. Filters with activated carbon should be replaced every 3-4 months depending on the intensity of use of the hood.
