Hemisphere® kettle Type 509 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS **Do not let your kettle function without supervision and keep it out of reach of children or people who are not competent to use it. **This unit is not a toy. **People (including children) who are not able to use the unit safely either due to their physical, sensorial or mental capacities or due to their lack of experience or knowledge, must not use the unit without the supervision and instructions of a competent person. **Keep the cord out of reach of children. **Put the unit on a flat, dry and heat-resistant surface. **Always keep your kettle as far as possible from the edge of the counter top. **Do not cover the unit. **Do not use it without water. **The level of water in the kettle must be between the “MIN” and “MAX” water level indications. Carefully read these instructions and keep them so that you can consult them later on. **Poor use of your unit can lead to injuries and harm to people and equipment. **Only use this product for its intended purpose. The company cannot be held liable in the event of damage or injury due to poor use or handling of the product. **Only intended for household uses and in the way indicated in the instructions. **Only to be used with 230V, 50Hz power supplies. **Never put your kettle, the cord or the base into water or any other liquid. Water must not get into the base of the unit. **Do not use the unit if you have wet feet or hands. **Do not expose the unit to high temperatures or to direct sunlight. Protect it from moisture, dust and all corrosive substances.

ENG **Be careful to close the cover of the kettle before using it to avoid burning yourself with the release of steam. **Make sure that the cover is properly closed before use. **Be careful to never cover the kettle when the water is still hot. There is a risk of burning from the release of steam. **Do not touch any parts other than the lateral handle during operation because they are very hot (risk of burns). **Do not move the unit during its use. **Careful, the unit remains hot after its use. **Always let the unit cool down before storing it or cleaning it. **Do not let the cord hang over the counter top. **Keep the cord and the unit away from all sources of heat, hot objects or open flames. **Unplug the unit when it is not heating, during cleaning or before opening the cover of the unit. **Do not pull the power cord or the unit itself in order to unplug it. **Never put your unit on a hot surface. **Never let the kettle operate without surveillance. **Never use the unit for a purpose other than its primary function. **Do not use the unit if it has fallen and if it shows visible deterioration, in order to avoid danger. **If your kettle is damaged, do not use it and contact the after-sale service. **If your kettle is damaged, do not try to repair it yourself. All unauthorized modifications or repairs to your unit will lead to the cancellation of the guarantee. **For your safety, only use accessories and spare parts adapted to your unit. **This unit is exclusively intended for household use. Any other use (professional) is excluded. The manufacturer waives all responsibility in the event of non-observance of this principle.

CORD You must examine the power cord carefully before using it. If it is damaged, you must not use the unit. The cord can only be replaced by , its after-sale service department or a qualified person approved by in order to avoid all danger for the user. The cord used is a HO5VV-F 3 G 0.75 mm². These units are in compliance with directives 2006/95/CE, 2004/108/ CE, DEEE 2002/96/CE, RoHs 2002/95/CE and with EC food contact regulation 1935/2004.

**Fill the unit with water up to the desired level, observing the level requirements (0.5L MIN to 1.5L MAX). **Close the cover and make sure that it is properly locked in place. **Put the kettle on its base. **Turn the unit on by plugging in the power cord. The kettle will make a sound and the buttons and the water level indicator will light up briefly. The screen will then light up to display the water temperature. If the temperature of the water is below 40°C, the screen will display “Lo” which means low temperature.

**Fill the unit with water up to the maximum level (“MAX”). **Turn on the unit as described in the section “use of the unit”. Let the water boil. **Pour out the water once it has boiled. **Repeat the operation a second time. **The unit is ready for use. VARIOUS FUNCTIONALITIES **Boiling water: Press the 100°C button. The 100°C button and the water level indicator go on. The water will start to warm up. As soon as the boiling begins, the kettle will ring 5 times and go off automatically. The 100°C button and the water level indicator will go off. The water temperature will then be displayed on the screen. This mode can be cancelled by simply pressing the 100°C button. With this mode, you can monitor the progress of the heating, and the water level indicator is lit up with colors that are more or less hot depending on the temperature of the water.

**Open the cover using the handle. Be careful not to open the cover when the water is hot. Let the kettle cool first in order to avoid burning due to the release of steam. **Boil water with prolongation of boiling: The boiling prolongation mode lets you purify the water by removing most of the micro-organisms and bacteria present in the water and it also removes the taste of chlorine. Press the “PURE” button. The “PURE” button and the water level indicator go on.

The water will start to warm up. The boiling at 100°C will be maintained for 3 minutes. Once the boiling has finished, the kettle will beep 5 times and go off automatically. The “PURE” button and the water level indicator will go off. The water temperature will then be displayed on the screen. This mode can be cancelled by simply pressing the “PURE” button. **Boil the water and then lower it to a predefined temperature and maintain this temperature: Press the temperature selection button to display the possible temperatures and choose between 50, 60, 70 or 85°C. Then press the 100°C button. The temperature selection button, the 100°C button and the water level indicator light up. The temperature chosen will blink on the screen. The water will then begin to heat up and the displaying on the screen goes to the instantaneous temperature of the water. The temperature selected can be seen by the point facing the temperature. Once the boiling begins, the kettle will beep 5 times. The 100°C button will go off. The water temperature will then progressively go down, which can take time, be patient! Once the selected temperature has been reached, the kettle will beep and keep the water at this temperature automatically for 30 minutes and then go off. The temperature selection button and the water level indicator will go off. The temperature of the water will then be displayed on the screen. The boiling mode can be cancelled by simply pressing the 100°C button. The temperature selection mode can be cancelled by simply pressing the temperature selection button. **Heat the water to a pre-defined temperature and maintain it at this temperature: Press the temperature selection button to display the possible temperatures and choose between 50, 60, 70 or 85°C. The temperature selection button and the water level indicator go on. The temperature chosen will blink on the screen. The water will start to heat up and the display on the screen will go to the instantaneous temperature of the water. The temperature selected can be seen by the point positioned facing the temperature. Once the selected temperature has been reached, the kettle will beep and keep the water at this temperature automatically for 30 minutes and then turn off. The temperature selection button and the water level indicator will go off. The temperature of the water will then be displayed on the screen. This mode can be cancelled by simply pressing the temperature selection button.

Once the selected temperature has been reached, the kettle will beep and keep the water at this temperature automatically for 30 minutes and then go off. The temperature selection button and the water level indicator will go off. The water temperature will then be displayed on the screen. The boiling prolongation mode can be cancelled by simply pressing the “PURE” button. The temperature selection mode can be cancelled by simply pressing the temperature selection button.

Warning: There can be a difference in temperature of 5°C more

or less between the water inside the kettle and the display on the screen. Advice: you can reduce the length of your cord in the storage support, which is under the base. Anti-dry boiling system If the “MIN” water level is not respected, the kettle will beep and will not start: this is the anti-dry boiling system. UPKEEP **For cleaning the unit, you should take care to always unplug the unit and let it cool down before washing it. Do not put the base, the cord or the plug into water. Do not allow water to enter the base of the kettle. **Clean the kettle and the base with a moist cloth. If the kettle is very dirty, add a small amount of soap. **Do not use scouring pads, steel wool or any form of powerful solvents or abrasive cleaning products to clean the unit, because they can damage the exterior surfaces of the unit. **Remove the scale filter by pulling it up and clean it using a brush. Put it back in place once it has been cleaned. **IMPORTANT! Let the unit dry completely after cleaning before using it again. The unit should not be used if the base or the underside of the kettle is wet. **Make sure that the unit is dry and clean before storing it. N.B.: A sound is heard each time you press a button of the kettle.

SCALE REMOVAL In the event of technical defects observed within one week of purchase, the units will be exchanged. Beyond this period, they will be repaired by the after-sale service. The presence of scale increases over time as you use the kettle. Once a month, fill your kettle with white vinegar diluted with water (1/3, 2/3), and let it work cold for 2 hours or more. Do the same operation with the filter which you soak in this mixture. Rinse several times with tap water. You can also use scale remover for a coffee machine, following the manufacturer’s instructions. In order to benefit from this guarantee, the user must present a copy of the invoice that specifies the date of purchase of the unit. Duration of availability of spare parts In accordance with article L 111-2 of the consumer code, the availability of spare parts that we provide for a repairable product is 5 years as of its date of manufacturing.
