What is the power of the PA400.1 amplifier?
The PA400.1 delivers 400 W RMS into a 1 Ohm load with less than 1% distortion. Dynamically, it reaches 800 W x 1 into 1 Ohm.
How to safely install the amplifier?
First disconnect the negative battery terminal. Mount the amplifier in a dry, ventilated location. Use a sufficiently sized power cable and install a fuse within 20-25 cm of the positive battery terminal. Connect the REM terminal to the head unit's turn-on wire. The ground (GND) must be connected to bare chassis metal with a cable of the same gauge as the power supply.
How to adjust the amplifier gain?
Set the gain control to the center position. Turn up the head unit volume to 3/4 or until distortion is heard. Then turn the gain until the distortion disappears. For systems with a remote subwoofer control, set the gain to 25% then the remote to center, and fine-tune.
What speakers can I connect?
The amplifier is designed for subwoofers with a total impedance of 1 to 4 Ohms. The paired outputs are factory-wired in parallel, so consider the combined impedance. For example, two 2 Ohm subwoofers wired in parallel give a 1 Ohm load.
How to use the Master/Slave function?
Set the main amp to MASTER and the slave to SLAVE. Connect the RCA output of the master amp to the input of the slave. Filters and settings must be identical on both amps. For parallel synchronized gain mode, each amp powers its own subwoofers. For external synchronized bridging, both amps share the same load and the slave's phase must be set to 180°.
What does the red LED on the amplifier mean?
The red LED indicates the protection circuit is activated. This may be due to a short circuit, overheating, or DC output offset. Check speaker connections and ventilation. Disconnect and reconnect power after resolving the issue.
What are the recommended filter settings?
The low-pass filter (LPF) is adjustable from 30 to 250 Hz. For a subwoofer, start around 80 Hz. The subsonic filter attenuates frequencies below 30 Hz, protecting the speaker from very low frequencies. The bass equalizer (Bass EQ) adds +8 dB if desired. Adjust according to your preferences and enclosure.
Can I connect an external fan?
Yes, the amplifier has a LED/FAN jack to connect an optional fan (not included). This is recommended for very low impedance installations or restricted ventilation. If you don't use a fan, you can connect an additional LED tube to this jack.
How to connect the remote subwoofer control?
Use the supplied remote volume module and the telephone cord. Plug it into the REMOTE jack on the front of the amplifier. Do NOT connect a module from another manufacturer as the pinout may differ. Set the amp gain to 25%, then adjust the remote to center for an optimal adjustment range.
