How to connect the XS system to a computer?

Use the provided USB cable and plug it into the USB input on the back of the subwoofer. Connect the other end to a free USB port on your computer. Make sure the system is in Audio mode. Then, configure your computer's sound settings to select "Focal XS" as the audio output device (in System Preferences on Mac or Control Panel on Windows).

How to synchronize my iPod with the XS system?

Place your iPod on the dock using the appropriate adapter. Press the button on the back of the subwoofer to switch to Sync mode. The light around the ON/OFF button will flash slowly. The system will no longer produce sound during synchronization. Use iTunes on your computer to transfer music. To return to Audio mode, press the back button again.

What to do if I hear no sound?

Check that the system is powered on (the ON/OFF button is lit). Make sure the volume is not at minimum (use the remote or volume button). Verify that the audio source is properly connected (USB, Jack, or iPod). If using a computer, ensure "Focal XS" is selected as the output device in audio settings. Try restarting the system by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

How to clean the speakers?

Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the speakers and subwoofer. Never use solvents, abrasive products, or liquid sprays. Avoid letting liquids enter the ventilation openings.

What is the product warranty?

FOCAL warranty is 2 years from the date of purchase for France. To benefit, return the enclosed warranty card within 10 days. In case of problem, contact your dealer. The warranty does not cover damage due to misuse or incorrect connection.

Can I use the XS system without a computer?

Yes, the system can operate independently. In Audio mode, you can listen to music directly from your iPod on the dock, or via another MP3 player plugged into the 3.5 mm jack input. The computer is only needed for synchronization (Sync mode) or for an external audio source.

How to switch between Audio and Sync modes?

Use the button on the back of the subwoofer (labeled "Sync or Audio mode"). A brief press switches between modes. In Audio mode, the light around the ON/OFF button is steady. In Sync mode, it flashes slowly and sound is muted.

Which iPod adapters are included?

Several adapters are included for different iPod models: Adapter B for iPod Nano 2&4GB; Adapter C for iPod 5G video 30GB and iPod classic 80GB; Adapter D for iPod 5G video 60&80GB and iPod classic 160GB; Adapter E for iPod Nano 2G 2-4&8GB; Adapter F for iPod Nano 3G 4&8GB; Adapter G for iPod Touch 8&16GB. Choose the one that matches your iPod.

What to do if the remote control does not work?

Make sure the system is in Audio mode and the remote control is within line of sight of the infrared sensor (located on the subwoofer). Check the remote batteries: replace them if necessary. If the problem persists, restart the system by unplugging it from the mains for a few seconds.

Where to find the serial number of the XS system?

The serial number is located on a label on the back of the subwoofer. It is also mentioned on the warranty card included in the packaging. Keep it for any after-sales service requests.

Before installing your system, be sure to have the last firmware in your iPod./

XS Multimedia Sound System can also work without computer.

The Audio mode permits to listen to music via computer or via iPod.*

In Audio and Sync mode, the iPod is continually recharging. (If your iPod is not charging when you go from the Sync mode to the Audio mode, take off your iPod and simply replace it).

The Sync mode only permits to transfer music from computer to iPod :

• Focal XS is not emitting sound anymore
• the light around the ON/OFF button is slowly flashing
• the remote control is not working any more as well as the other buttons of the dock

To get out of the Sync mode, slowly press the back button. You are in the Audio mode.

The USB input permits the wiring of the loudspeaker to the computer.
