Read these instructions thoroughly before using the product. Keep this instruction manual for future reference or new users.

• Ensure that the mains voltage matches the voltage specified on the product rating label and that the plug is earthed.
• This product is designed for household use only. Do not use the appliance for industrial or commercial purposes.
• Place the appliance on a dry, stable, flat, heat-resistant surface.
• The temperature of the accessible surfaces may be hot when the device is operating.
• Ensure a free space of at least 30 cm around the device.
• The appliance will be very hot during and immediately after operation. Use gloves or other convenient protective equipment to avoid burns and injuries. Keep it away from flammable substances and objects.
• Do not immerse the cord, plug, or any non-removable part of the appliance in water or any other liquid or expose electrical connections to water. Make sure your hands are dry before handling the plug or switching on the appliance.
• Do not twist, bend, pull, or damage the power cord. Protect it from sharp edges and heat sources. Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces.
• Do not cover the plate with aluminium foil, this could damage the non-stick coating.
• Do not leave the device unattended when switched on or still hot.
• Charcoal or similar combustible fuels should not be used with this device.
• Pull from the plug, not from the cord, to disconnect the device from the power supply.
• Check the power cord regularly for visible damage. If the

cord is damaged, it must be repaired by the official Cecotec Technical Support Service to avoid any type of danger.

• Switch off and disconnect the appliance from the main plug:
• In case of faults during use.
• Before cleaning or moving the appliance from place to place.
• After use.
• Turn off the device before unplugging it.
• Keep the device out of the reach of water. Do not expose it to rain, snow or other moisture conditions.
• Use only parts and components provided with the original product by Cecotec.
• Do not use the appliance if:
• The appliance, casing, or power cord is damaged.
• It shows visible signs of damage.
• It has fallen and is probably not going to work properly.
• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance should not be performed by children without adult supervision.

2. BEFORE USE

• This product includes a safety package to protect it during transport. Unpack the device and keep the original packaging and materials in a safe place. It will help prevent any damage if the product needs to be transported in the future. In case the original packaging is disposed of, make sure all packaging materials are recycled accordingly.
• Make sure all parts and components are included and in good conditions. If there is any piece missing or in bad conditions, contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service immediately.

• Clean the plates and the grease-collection tray with a soft, dampened cloth. Dry them with a cloth or paper towel.

• It is recommended to spread some vegetable oil before preheating the plates to protect their non-stick layer.

Warning

• Smoke might be observed during the first use due to residual wastes from manufacture.
• Make sure that the plate and grease-collection tray are clean and dry before operating the product.

3. OPERATION

1. Plug the power cord into the outlet.
2. Turn on the device by positioning the switch in the rear part in the On position.
3. Preheat the plate(s) by setting the temperature knob to the desired temperature: the operation light indicator of the corresponding plate will turn red. When the device reaches the desired temperature, the operation light indicator of the corresponding plate will turn blue.
4. After preheating, place the food to be cooked on the plate. We advise you to use gloves and tongs.
5. When the food is cooked, remove it from the plate; use the spatula to do so.
6. When you finish using the barbecue, turn off and unplug it. It will take some time to cool down, be careful.
7. When the barbecue is cold, remove the grease-collection tray and clean it.

Please note

• It usually takes about 8 minutes to preheat.
• You must make sure the grease-collection tray is correctly assembled in the barbecue.
• Do not use metallic utensils to place or remove food, as it could damage the coating.

Tips

• Remember that the cooking time and temperature depend on the type of food and thickness.
• Always use tongs to turn grilled food. Using a fork to turn the food will dry it out and damage the non-stick coating.
• You do not need to turn meat or fish more than once during the cooking process. There is no need to turn it more than once, as it dries food out.
• If cooked food sticks to the grill plate, rub the plate with a piece of kitchen paper soaked in oil from time to time
• Meat will be more tender if you marinade it in the refrigerator overnight before cooking.

You can make your own marinade from oil (to aid moistness), vinegar, fruit juice or wine (to tenderise) and a mixture of seasonings for flavour.

4. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Before cleaning the appliance, turn it off, unplug it, and allow it to cool down.
• Fat splashes can be removed with a mild cleaning agent.
• Do not immerse the product in water or other liquids.
• Never use strong detergents, petrol, abrasive powders, or a metal brush to clean any part of the product.
• Do not touch, hold or transport the device while it is hot.
• Protect the device from dust and dirt if it is not to be used for a prolonged period of time.
• Dry thoroughly and wrap it in a plastic bag or store it in its original box.
• Store it in a cool and dry place.
• Clean the plates and the grease-collection tray after every use. You can clean them with hot water and soap. Make sure the parts are completely dry before placing them again.
