Frequently Asked Questions - F76S HONEYWELL

How to install the F76S filter?
The filter must be mounted on a horizontal pipe, with the filter bowl facing down, preferably directly after the water meter. Make sure that the flow direction is respected and that access is easy for maintenance.
How often should a backwash be performed?
Backwashing should be performed at least every 2 months in accordance with DIN 1988. In case of very dirty water, a shorter interval may be necessary.
How to perform a manual backwash?
Open the backwash valve by turning the knob to the stop (the mark must be vertical), wait about 3 seconds, then close. Repeat the operation three times. If the filter is very dirty, repeat more often.
What to do in case of insufficient water pressure?
First check that the isolation valves before and after the filter are fully open. If so, perform a backwash because the screen is probably clogged.
What materials are used in the F76S filter?
The housing is made of dezincification-resistant brass, the screen of stainless steel, the seals of NBR and the filter bowl of impact-resistant plastic or bronze (red cast iron).
What are the available variants of the F76S?
The main variants are: F76S-...AA (threaded sleeve, translucent bowl), F76S-...AAM (red cast iron bowl), F76S-...EA (without screw connections). Other mesh sizes are available on request.
Can the filter be used for hot water?
Yes, but the maximum temperature depends on the filter bowl: 40 °C with the translucent bowl and 70 °C with the red cast iron bowl.
How to clean the filter bowl?
Close the isolation valves, depressurize the circuit, unscrew the bowl using the supplied hex key. Remove the filter, clean it with clean water without using solvents or alcohol, then reassemble.
Where to find spare parts for the F76S?
Spare parts are listed in the manual (section 12). The main ones are: pressure gauge (M76K-A16), seals, complete filter unit (AF11S or AF11DS for Double Spin), bowl (KF11S or FT09RS), valve (KH11S), etc.
What is the role of the Double Spin technology?
The Double Spin technology uses a turbine driven by the water flow to rotate a rotor on the upper screen, which mechanically removes stuck particles, improving cleaning during backwash.

2. Functional description

The filter insert is divided into two parts. In the „filtering“ position, only the lower, larger section is rinsed through by water jets from outside to inside. The small upper section does not come in contact with unfiltered water. When the ball valve is opened for reverse rinsing, then the whole filter insert is pushed downwards until the water supply to the outer side of the main filter is stopped. Simultaneously, the water flow is opened to the upper part of the filter. The water needed for cleaning the filter passes through the upper filter section, then the rotating impeller and the main filter from inside to outside, i.e. the filter is reverse rinsed with filtered water. In that way the upper filter is also cleaned by jets from the impeller. The filter automatically switches back to the operating position when the ball valve is closed again.

Filters with Double Spin Technology have turbine blades which circulate the water and thereby set the rotor on the upper filter into a rotational motion. The internal impeller rinses off particles that have adhered to the upper filter at the intersecting points with the rotor.

3. Application

Medium Water

The filter is constructed for drinking water installations. In case of a process water application the filter has to be proven individually.

7. Assembly

7.1 Installations Guidelines

  • Install in horizontal pipework with filter bowl downwards o This position ensures optimum filter efficiency
    • Install shutoff valves
  • Ensure good access
o Pressure gauge can be read off easily
o Degree of contamination can be easily seen with clear filter bowl
    o Simplifies maintenance and inspection
  • The installation location should be protected against frost
    • Fit immediately after water meter
    o Corresponds to DIN 1988, Part 2

7.2 Assembly instructions

HONEYWELL F76S - Assembly instructions - 1

When connecting the solder sockets, do not solder the sockets together with the filter. High temperatures destroy internal parts which are important to the function!

  1. Thoroughly flush pipework
  2. Install filter
    o Note flow direction
o Install without tension or bending stresses

  3. Seal in pressure gauge

7.3 Discharge of reverse rinsing water

The reverse rinsing water must be routed to the drain channel in such a way that no backwater can occur.

To do this there are 3 options:

  1. Direct connection:
o Connector DN 50/70 as well as the necessary pipes and siphon (3 elbows 90°) in DN 70.
  2. Drain free to existing floor drain.
  3. Drain into open container.

1" and 1 1/4"15 Liter
1 1/2" and 2"18 Liter

*at 4 bar inlet pressure and 3 x 3 seconds reverse rinsing duration

8. Commissioning

8.1 Reverse rinsing

During reverse rinsing, an inlet pressure of at least 1.5 bar is required. The reverse rinsing interval depends on the degree of dirt in the water. At the latest every 2 months, reverse rinsing should be carried out according to DIN 1988, Part 8. To ensure convenient and regular adherence to the reverse rinsing interval, we recommend installing an automated reverse rinsing system Z11S.

HONEYWELL F76S - Reverse rinsing - 1

Filtered water can also be tapped during reverse rinsing.

8.1.1 Manual reverse rinsing

If reverse rinsing water is not to be discharged via a direct connection, a collecting container must be positioned beneath before reverse rinsing.

  1. Open ball valve by turning the reverse rinsing button to the stop point

o Select bar must be upright
o The patented reverse rinsing system starts
o When filtering with Double Spin Technology, a visual function check is possible through the rotating red rotor

  1. Close ball valve again after approx. 3 seconds. Repeat procedure three times

o If the filter is extremely dirty, the procedure may have to be repeated additional times

With aid of the memory ring, the next deadline for manual reverse rinsing can be booked.

8.1.2 Automatic reverse rinsing with the Z11S

The automated reverse rinsing system Z11S is available as an accessory. The automated system reliably takes over reverse rinsing of the filter at intervals which can be set between 4 minutes and 3 months.

9. Maintenance

HONEYWELL F76S - Maintenance - 1

We recommend a planned maintenance contract with an installation company

In accordance with DIN 1988, part 8, the following measures must be taken:

9.1 Inspection / Servicing

9.1.1 Filter

HONEYWELL F76S - Filter - 1

Interval: every 2 months

  • The filter must be cleaned by reverse rinsing regularly, at the latest every 2 months
  • Non-compliance can lead to the filter becoming blocked. This results in a drop in pressure and decreasing water flow
  • The filter meshes are made of stainless steel. A red coating as a consequence of rust from the pipelines has no influence on function or the way the filter works

HONEYWELL F76S - Filter - 2

Do not forget to do a visual check of the ball valve. Replace if it is dripping!

9.2 Cleaning

HONEYWELL F76S - Cleaning - 1

Caution!

Do not use any cleaning agents containing solvents and/or alcohol to clean the plastic parts!

  1. Close shutoff valve on inlet
  2. Release pressure on outlet side (e.g. through water tap)
  3. Close shutoff valve on outlet
  4. Unscrew filter bowl o Use double ring wrench ZR10K
  5. Remove filter, clean and reinsert
  6. Place O-ring onto filter bowl
  7. Screw in filter cup hand-tight (without tools)
  8. Slowly open shutoff valve on inlet
  9. Slowly open shutoff valve on outlet

10. Disposal

  • Dezincification resistant brass housing
    • Brass threaded connections
  • Stainless steel fine filter
  • Red-bronze or shock-resistant, clear transparent synthetic material filter bowl
  • NBR seals

HONEYWELL F76S - Disposal - 1

Observe the local requirements regarding correct waste recycling/disposal!
