General safety advice for electrical power tools

Keep all the safety advice and instructions in a safe place for future reference!

The term “electrical tool” used in the safety advice refers to electrical tools powered by mains electrici- ty (by means of a mains lead) and electrical tools powered by rechargeable batteries (without a mains lead)

a) Keep your working area clean and well lit. Untidy or poorly lit working areas can lead to accidents.

b) Do not work with the device in potentially explosive envi- ronments in which there are

inflammable liquids, gases or dusts. Electrical power tools create sparks, which can ignite dusts or fumes.

c) ÿ Keep children and other

people away while you are

operating the electrical tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control of the device.

tool that can no longer be switched on and off is dangerous and must be repairedl

Pull the mains plug out of the socket and/ or remove the rechargeable bat- tery before you make any adjustments to the device, change accessories or when the device is put away. This pre- caution is intended to prevent the device from unintentionally starting

When not in use always ensure that electrical power tools are kept out of reach of children. Do not let anyone use the device if he or she is not fami with it or has not read the instructions and advice. Electrical power tools are dan- gerous when they are used by inexperienced people.

Look after the device carefully. Check that moving parts are working prop- erly and move freely. Check for any parts that are broken or damaged enough to detrimentally affect the functioning of the device. Have dam- aged parts repaired before you use the device. Many accidents have their origins in poorly maintained electrical power tools. Keep cutting tools clean and sharp. Carefully maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to control.

Use the electrical power tool, accesso- ries, inserted tools etc. in accordance with these instructions and advice, and the stipulations drawn up for this par- ticular type of device. In doing this, take into account the working conditions and the task in hand. The use of electrical power tools for purposes other than those in- tended can lead to dangerous situations.

Use and handling of the cord- less electrical power tool

Charge a rechargeable battery unit

using only the charger recommended by the manufacturer. Chargers are often designed for a particular type of rechargeable

battery unit. There is the danger of fire if other types of rechargeable battery units are used. Only the rechargeable battery units supplied are to be used with an elec- trical power tool. The use of other recharge- able battery units may lead to the danger of injury or fire.

When they are not being used, store rechargeable battery units away from paperclips, coins, keys. nails, screws or other small metal objects that could cause the contacts to be bridged. Short circuiting the contacts of a rechargeable battery unit may result in heat damage or fire.

Fluids may leak out of rechargeable battery units if they are misused. If this happens, avoid contact with the fluid. If contact oceurs, flush the affect- ed area with water. Seek additional medical help if any of the fluid gets into your eyes. Escaping battery fluid may cause skin irritation or burns

Follow the working methods given on the packaging.

2. Apply the wax/polish directly on the working surface of the terry bonnet [6]. Spread the wax / polish so that it forms a thin, even, complete coating over the terry bonnet [6] Note: Too much wax does not necessarily achieve a better finish and you will have to spent more time later removing the coating.

3. Spread the wax evenly right up to the edge of the terry bonnet [6].

© Switching on the device and waxing / polishing the paintwork

Note: The paintwork to be polished must be care- fully cleaned and completely dry. lfnecessary, use a paintwork cleaner. Use products that are appro- priate for the demands on and condition of your paintwork. Heavily oxidised paintwork will require the use of a special cleaner. For this use a combined product (cleaner + wax].

1. Place the waxer / polisher on the surface to be polished. Note: To avoid the splattering of wax or polish, do not switch the appliance on yet. Dab the appliance a few times at various points on the area to be buffed. In this way you can ensure that excess wax/ polish is once more distributed

evenly over the terrycloth bonnet and the area to be buffed.

2. Take both appliance grips hands and switch the appliance on by pressing the ON/OFF switch [5] (see also Fig. B).

3. Guide the waxer/polisher evenly over the paintwork [see Fig. C].

Note: Do not press on the waxer/polisher! The selfweight of the waxer / polisher alone applies sufficient pressure for the waxing / polishing process.

4. Switch the appliance off before you remove it from the area being buffed. To do this, release the ON/OFF switch Any difficult to reach corners or recesses may have to be completed later by hand. Take the

terry bonnet [6] off the waxer / polisher and use the bonnet for the corners and recesses.

© Polishing or removing wax with the synthetic polishing bonnet

Note: The wax/polish must be allowed to dry on sufficiently to produce the best polishing performance. Otherwise any polish that is still uid will be smeared by the polishing bonnet.
