Therefore, always remove the plug from the wall socket after use, especially if the appliance is being used in a bathroom. The heating plates operate at very high temperatures. Caution: skin contact with these parts may cause burns. Therefore, do not touch any part of the appliance except the area between the safe-grip marking and the power cord.
To prevent damage to the hair caused by the high temperature, contact between the hair and the heating plates should be limited to a few seconds at a time.

Before using for the first time
Clean the appliance and the heating plates before use as described in the section 'General care and cleaning'.
Temperature selection
To prevent the hair from being damaged, always start with a low temperature setting, e.g. 120 - about 150^ for thin or sensitive hair, 160 - about 190^ for thicker hair. If the hair can be straightened at that setting in two cycles, no further increase in temperature is necessary, as the optimum setting has already been reached.
Operation
The appliance should only be used on dry or almost dry hair.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
- Use the On/Off switch to turn the appliance on.
- Use the temperature control to set the desired level, observing the above instructions. Pre-heating starts as shown by the red indicator light.
During the heating phase, the appliance should be placed on a firm, heat-resistant surface.
Once the desired temperature has been reached, the indicator light changes to green.
Take each strand of hair as close as possible to the roots and place it between the heating plates.
Bring the two arms together on the hair and gently pull through the hair, starting from the roots and working your way out to the ends.
- Open the arms.
- Check whether the result is as desired.
If you wish the shaping to be more pronounced, repeat the process, allowing the heat to take effect slightly longer, or dividing the hair into smaller strands.
- Switch off after use, remove the plug from the wall socket, place the appliance on a heat-resistant surface and allow it to cool down.
General care and cleaning
Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and
has cooled down completely.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
- The exterior of the appliance may be wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
- The heating plates may be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth, using a mild detergent. Ensure that they are thoroughly wiped dry afterwards.
