Important safety instructions
Caution: do not use the appliance in the vicinity of a bath, shower or swimmingpool, over a washbasin filled

with water or near any other receptacle containing water.
Protect the appliance from moisture and splashing water and do not operate it with wet hands.
In the vicinity of any water source, there is a risk even when the appliance is switched off. Therefore, always remove the plug from the wall socket after use, especially if the appliance is being used in a bathroom. Additional protection is available by fitting an earth-leakage circuit-breaker with a rated tripping current not exceeding 30mA into your bathroom installation. Please consult a qualified electrician.
Caution: The heating plates operate at very high temperatures, and skin contact
with these parts may cause burns. Do not touch any part of the appliance except the smooth grip area.
As the heating plates operate at high temperatures, contact with the hair should be limited to a maximum of a few seconds at a time.
- Do not use the appliance on synthetic hairpieces or wigs; the heat emitted might cause damage to the synthetic fibres.
Before the appliance is used, the main body as well as any attachments fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. If the appliance, for instance, has been dropped onto a hard surface, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on its operational safety.
The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used.
- To prevent damage to the power cord, - do not bend or kink the cable, especially where it leaves the housing, - do not pull on the cord, - do not coil the cord around the appliance.
The appliance has a locking catch to save space during storage and when travelling. Before use, the catch must be disengaged by pushing the locking button.
Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
Take special care not to let any hot parts of the appliance come into contact with the scalp, ears or face.
Do not allow the power cord to touch hot surfaces.
Always remove the plug from the wall socket after use, in case of any malfunction, and before cleaning the appliance.
- When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.
Do not operate the appliance when it is
stored on the hanging loop.
- Do not place the appliance on any surfaces sensitive to heat during or immediately after use.
This appliance is not intended for use by any persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children, as they are a potential source of danger e.g. from suffocation.
No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
This appliance is intended for domestic use only and not for commercial applications.
In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the replacement of the power cord. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments. The address can be found in the appendix to this manual.
Before using for the first time
The appliance and the heating plates should be wiped clean with a slightly damp cloth before use.
Operation
The appliance should only be used on dry or almost dry hair.
- Open the locking catch.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
- Use the slide switch to turn the appliance on, selecting level 1 or 2. Pre-heating starts as shown by the red indicator light. The appliance is ready for use after around 3 minutes.
During the heating phase, the appliance should be placed on a firm, heat-resistant surface.
Take each strand of hair as close as possible to the roots and place it between the heating plates.
Bring the two arms together on the hair and gently pull through the hair, starting from the roots and working your way out to the ends.
- Open the arms.
- Check whether the result is as desired.
If you wish the shaping to be more pronounced, repeat the process and allow the heat to take effect for a slightly longer period.
Selection of level 1 or 2
To prevent the hair from being damaged, always start with level 1. Level 2 should only be used for thicker hair, or if no satisfactory result is achieved with level 1. If the hair can be straightened in two cycles, an increase to level 2 is not necessary, as the optimum setting has already been reached.
General care and cleaning
Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has completely cooled down.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
- The exterior of the appliance may be wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
- The heating plates may be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth, using a mild detergent. Ensure that they are thoroughly wiped dry afterwards.
Disposal

Do not dispose of old or defective appliances in domestic garbage; this should only be done through public collection points.
