The hose contains electrical wires. Do not use when damaged, cut or punctured. Avoid picking up sharp objects.

Always turn off this appliance before connecting or disconnecting either hose or motorized nozzle.
- Hold plug when rewinding onto cord reel. Do not allow plug to whip when rewinding.
- Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
- Do not use without Dirt Cup and / or Filters in place.
- Unplug before connecting Turbine Hand Tool.
- The use of an extension cord is not recommended.
- Do not point tools toward people or pets.
- Do not operate cleaner in bare feet or when wearing open toe shoes or sandals.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
THERMAL PROTECTOR: An internal thermal protector has been designed into your cleaner to protect it from overheating.
When the thermal protector activates, the cleaner will stop running. If this happens, proceed as follows:
- Turn the cleaner OFF and disconnect it from the electrical outlet.
- Check Primary Filter, HEPA Filter, and Umbrella Tube for dirt accumulation.
- Refer to "Troubleshooting" section.
- When cleaner is unplugged and the motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector automatically resets and cleaning may continue. If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner may need servicing (see "Service" section).

3. HOW TO ASSEMBLE
Connect Hose
3.1 Push Hose Connector end (A) into opening (B) on front of cleaner. To disconnect hose from cleaner, press release buttons (C) on sides of Hose Connector and pull out.
NOTE: The flexible hose contains electrical wires for connection to the Power Nozzle and should not be used if damaged, cut or punctured.
Connect Wand
3.2 Push Hand Grip (D) firmly into end of Wand (E) until Latch clicks. To remove Wand from Hose, press on Wand Releases Button (F) on end of Wand and pull apart.
Connect Nozzle
3.3 Push the opposite end of Wand (G) firmly into Power Nozzle.
To Release, step on Wand Release Pedal (H) and pull to disconnect from nozzle.



4. HOW TO OPERATE
Carry Handle
Cord Release/Rewind

Use the Carry Handle located on top the Dirt Cup to move vacuum cleaner from room to room.
NOTE: Make sure Dirt Cup is securely fastened before moving unit.

To unwind Power Cord from Vacuum, pull out to desired length.
NOTE: A YELLOW mark on the Power Cord indicates the maximum recommended cord length. Do not exceed the cord length beyond the RED mark.
To rewind the Power Cord, press the Cord Rewind Pedal (A), located on the top of the vacuum cleaner, and guide the Power Cord with one hand. This will prevent the cord from whipping which could cause damage or injury.
4. HOW TO OPERATE
NOTE: Operate cleaner only at voltage specified on the data plate on the underside of the cleaner.

Push to turn cleaner on and off.

Push to turn Brushroll on and off.
3 Suction Control Valve
To clean delicate fabrics, slide the Suction Control Valve to the open position to lower the suction.
Slide as shown to open and close the Valve.

Nozzle
4 Floor Selector Pedal
Push the Floor Selector Pedal to raise and lower the Nozzle to clean bare floors and various carpet pile heights. For maximum cleaning performance, the following carpet height settings are recommended:
- Low and Medium settings: for low to medium pile carpets.
- High setting: for very deep pile carpet where easier pushing effort is desired, while maintaining good cleaning performance.
NOTE: If the cleaner is difficult to push, change floor selector push button to the next highest setting.
NOTE: In Bare Floor mode brushroll will automatically shut off.

Indicates the carpet height selected by the Floor Selector Pedal.

6 Handle Release Pedal
Step on the Handle Release Pedal to lower hand grip into cleaning position.
NOTE: Brushroll will not run until handle is released.
7 Reset Button
This power nozzle is equipped with an electrical reset button. If the brushroll is jammed, the rest button will automatically shut off the brushroll motor. If this happens, unplug cleaner and clear jam from brushroll. Press the reset button, plug in the cleaner and resume use.

Carpet Cleaning
Hard Floor Cleaning



After attaching the Power Nozzle, set the Floor Selector to the proper setting for your carpet type. Reference the "Vacuum Controls" section under "How to Operate" for carpet settings of Power Nozzle. (pg. 9)
The Hard Floor Brush is recommended for vacuuming wood, laminate coverings and ceramic floor surfaces.
Power Nozzle may also be used for hard floor cleaning, by simply setting the Floor Selector to Bare Floor.
NOTE: In Bare Floor mode brushroll will automatically shut off.
Edge Cleaning

Guide side of Nozzle parallel to edge of carpet or furniture as shown.
Stair Cleaning

Clean stairs from bottom to top.
NOTE: Take extra care when vacuuming stairs. Do not store canister in vertical position.

A. Crevice Tool may be used in tight spaces, corners, and along edges in such places as dresser drawers, upholstered furniture, stairs and baseboards. (Tool stored under Hand Grip)
B. Dusting Brush with swivel neck may be used to dust furniture, lamps, lighting fixtures, blinds, baseboards, shutters and registers. May also be used for upholstered furniture, draperies, tapestries and mattresses. (Tool stored under Hand Grip)
C. Hard Floor Brush may be used for hard surface floors such as tile and slate.
D. Turbine Hand Tool may be used for upholstered furniture and carpeted stairs.
E. Power Nozzle may be used for carpets, rugs and hard floor surfaces. (See "Hard Floor Cleaning" section for instructions)
Tools may be attached directly to the hand grip or to the wand. Firmly push tool into the hand grip or wand. Twist tool slightly to tighten or loosen connection.
5. GENERAL MAINTENANCE

IMPORTANT
Maintenance Instructions
Always unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet before performing any general maintenance.
Do not use cleaner without Dirt Cup, Umbrella Tube or Filters in place.
It is recommended that you clean the Filters every time the Dirt Cup is emptied for consistent cleaning performance of your machine.
CAUTION: Very fine materials, such as face powder or cornstarch, may clog the filter and cause a reduction in performance. When using the cleaner for this type of dust, empty the cup and clean the filters often.
Dirt Cup
When to Clean
Empty the Dirt Cup at the end of each cleaning session and before the dirt reaches the fill line.
How to Clean
Disconnect cleaner from electrical outlet.
5.1 Press button on the handle located on the Dirt Cup Lid and pull Dirt Cup Out.
5.2 Holding Dirt Cup over trash receptacle, press Dirt Cup Door Release Button to open and empty Dirt Cup. When all the dirt has fallen, close the Dirt Cup Door and replace.
Umbrella Tube
When to Clean
Check Umbrella Tube on a monthly basis and clean when it is wrapped with debris. Check more frequently if cleaning up pet hair or you have family members with long hair.
How to Clean
Disconnect cleaner from electrical outlet.
Remove Dirt Cup as described in Fig. 5.1.
5.3 Press red Dirt Cup Door Release Button to open Dirt Cup Door.
5.4 Twist Umbrella Tube left and remove from bottom of the Dirt Cup and remove debris.
Replace Umbrella Tube in bottom of Dirt Cup and twist right.

Lifetime Primary Filter
NOTE: This is located on the canister behind the Dirt Cup bin.
When to Clean
It is recommended that the Primary Filter be checked and cleaned periodically depending on the frequency of use and volume of dirt being picked up on each cleaning.
How to Clean
5.5 Release the Primary Filter Cover by lifting up the tab.
5.6 Lift off the Filter Cover to gain access to the Filter Assembly. Separate the Filter from Filter Frame and remove.
5.7 Hold Filter under cold running water to remove dirt and debris. Squeeze Filter to remove excess water.
NOTE: Allow Filter to dry completely before replacing, which may take up to 24 hours. Do not use any detergents or boiling water to wash the Filters.
Once completely dry, return the Lifetime Primary Filter to the Filter Frame, replace Filter Assembly into canister and replace cover.

HEPA Exhaust Filter
When to Clean
The HEPA Filter is intended to be a lifetime Filter. Inspect HEPA Filter at the same time Primary Filter is cleaned. Over time, it is normal for the Filter to turn gray. If HEPA Filter appears visibly dirty, follow cleaning instructions.
How to Clean
NOTE: This is located on the rear of the vacuum cleaner.
5.8 Release the HEPA Filter Cover and remove the Cover as shown. Remove the Filter by pulling the tab towards you.
5.9 Gently tap the Pleated Filter on the inside of a trash receptacle to remove excess dust and dirt.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage Filter pleats.
WARNING: DO NOT WASH OR APPLY WATER TO PLEATED FILTER.
NOTE: Replace Filter if any sign of damage.
Once cleaned, return the HEPA Filter to the vacuum cleaner. Replace the HEPA Filter Cover before restarting the vacuum cleaner.

Brushroll
When to Replace
WARNING - Risk of personal injury - Brushroll may suddenly restart - unplug before cleaning or servicing. When Brushroll brushes are worn, it should be replaced.
5.10 To check condition of brushes, move edge of a card across Bottom Plate while turning Brushroll. To maintain cleaning effectiveness, replace Brushroll if brushes do not touch card.

How to Remove
Disconnect cleaner from electrical outlet.
5.11 Turn cleaner over and remove 9 Screws as indicated in photo.
5.12 Remove Bottom Plate.

How to Replace
5.14 Align new Brushroll and Belt.

Turbine Hand Tool
When to Replace Brushroll
When Brushroll brushes are worn, the Brushroll should be replaced.
How to Replace Brushroll
Disconnect cleaner from electrical outlet.
5.17 Remove Tool from Hose and turn it so bottom faces up. Press the Latches on either side of Tool and remove Bottom Plate (A).
5.18 Unscrew the two Phillips Screws (indicated by arrows) and remove Belt Guard (B).
5.19 Remove Brushroll including End Plates (C) and discard.
Inspect Belt to ensure that it is in good condition. If Belt is cracked, gouged or broken, replace it. (See the following section for instructions)
Insert Brushroll through Belt and position Belt over Gear Teeth (D) on Brushroll.
With curved ends down, slide End Plates (C) of Brushroll into slots (E) on Tool.
5.20 Replace Belt Guard (B) making sure not to pinch brush bristles in Guard.
Turn Brushroll, making sure it rotates freely. Replace and tighten Screws.
5.21 To replace Bottom Plate, insert the four tabs (F) on edge of Bottom Plate into slots on front of Tool.
Pivot Bottom Plate down and snap closed.

Turbine Hand Tool
Inspecting the Belt
The Turbine Hand Tool Belt is designed to last a long time and is not normally replaced. However, if the Belt is cracked, gouged or broken, it should be replaced.
5.22 Remove Tool from Hose and turn it so bottom faces up. Press the Latches on either side of Tool and remove Bottom Plate (A).
Replacing Belt
5.23 Remove Bottom Plate, Belt Guard and Brushroll as described in Figs. 5.17 through 5.19.
Grasp Turbine (E) and pull firmly to remove.
Remove Belt (F) from Turbine Pulley.
Replace with new Belt.
5.24 With flat sides of Turbine Retainers (G) pointing down, slide Retainers into grooves (H) on both sides of Tool Housing and snap into place.
Replace Brushroll, Belt Guard, and Bottom Plate as described in Figs. 5.19 through 5.21.

WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS
When used and maintained in normal household use, and in accordance with the Owner's Manual, your Hoover Platinum Collection™ Bagless Cyclonic Canister is warranted against original defects in material and workmanship for a full six years from date of purchase (the "Warranty Period"). During the Warranty Period, Hoover® will provide, as described in this warranty, labor and parts, at no cost to you, to correct any such defect in products purchased in the United States, U.S. Military Exchanges and Canada.

This warranty does not cover: Brushroll, primary Filter, HEPA Filter, use of the product in a commercial operation (such as maid, janitorial and equipment rental services), improper maintenance of the product, damage due to misuse, acts of God, nature, vandalism or other acts beyond the control of Hoover®, owner's acts or omissions, use outside the country in which the product was initially purchased and resale of the product by the original owner. This warranty does not cover pick up, delivery, transportation or house calls. This warranty does not apply to products purchased: 1. Outside the United States, including its territories and possessions, 2. Outside a U.S. Military Exchange, or 3. Outside Canada. This warranty does not cover products purchased from a party that is not an authorized retailer, dealer, or distributor of Hoover® products.
OTHER IMPORTANT TERMS
This Warranty is not transferable and may not be assigned. This Warranty shall be governed and construed under the laws of the state of Ohio. The Warranty Period will not be extended by any replacement or repair performed under this warranty.
