Frequently Asked Questions - 3CFT-TILE FAGOR

What is the minimum distance to maintain between the hood and my cooktop?
For an electric cooktop, the minimum distance is 45 cm. For a gas or mixed cooktop, it is 65 cm. Always follow the specific instructions of your cooking appliance.
How to clean the grease filter?
The metallic grease filter should be cleaned once a month. You can wash it by hand with a mild detergent or in the dishwasher at low temperature and short cycle. Caution: dishwashing may discolor the filter without affecting its effectiveness.
How to install the carbon filter for the recirculating version?
Open the vapor screen, remove the grease filter, then install the carbon filter behind the grease filter by fixing it with the two provided rods. Reassemble the grease filter and close the screen.
What to do if the filter cleaning indicator flashes?
After cleaning or replacing the filter, press the motor OFF button for 3 seconds. The flashing light stops. For the grease filter, it's button 1 that flashes; for the carbon filter, it's button 2.
How to replace the halogen lamp?
Unplug the appliance. Make sure the lamp is cool. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to unclip the protector. Replace the lamp with a halogen lamp G4, max 20 W. Do not touch the new lamp with your fingers.
The hood no longer works, what to do?
Unplug the power cord for approximately 5 seconds, then plug it back in. If the problem persists, contact authorized after-sales service.
Can I use the hood without the grease filter?
No, the hood must never be used without the grease filter properly installed. This could damage the appliance and create a fire hazard.
How to switch from extracting version to recirculating version?
For the recirculating version, you must install an activated carbon filter and a deflector on the flange. The fumes are recirculated through the upper grille. If the hood was in extracting version, first remove the carbon filter if present.
What cleaning products to use on the hood?
Use a damp cloth with a neutral liquid detergent. Never use alcohol, abrasive products, or solvents. Clean the inside and outside regularly.
Is the hood delivered with a plug?
Yes, if a plug is provided, connect it to a socket compliant with standards. If the connection is direct to the circuit, install a bipolar switch (circuit breaker) to ensure complete disconnection.

USER MANUAL 3CFT-TILE FAGOR

Instruction on mounting and use

Instruction on mounting and use

Consult the designs in the front pages referenced in the text by alphabet letters. Closely follow the instructions set out in this manual. All responsibility, for any eventual inconvenience, damages or fires caused by not complying with the instructions in this manual, is declined.

Note: the elements marked with the symbol (^*) are optional accessories supplied only with some models or elements to purchase, not supplied.

Use

The hood is designed to be used either for exhausting or filter version.

Ducting version

The hood is equipped with a top air outlet B for discharge of fumes to the outside (exhaust pipe and pipe fixing clamps not provided). Fig. 5-6

Attention!

If the hood is supplied with carbon filter, then it must be removed.

Filter version

Should it not be possible to discharge cooking fumes and vapour to the outside, the hood can be used in the filter version, fitting an activated carbon filter and the deflector F on the support (bracket) G, fumes and vapours are recycled through the top grille H by means of an exhaust pipe connected to the top air outlet B and the connection ring mounted on the deflector F (exhaust pipe and pipe fixing clamps not provided). Fig. 5-6

Attention!

If the hood is not supplied with carbon filter, then it must be ordered and mounted.

The models with no suction motor only operate in ducting mode, and must be connected to an external suction device (not supplied).

Installation

The minimum distance between the supporting surface for the cooking vessels on the hob and the lowest part of the range hood must be not less than 45cm from electric cookers and 65cm from gas or mixed cookers. If the instructions for installation for the gas hob specify a greater distance, this must be adhered to.

Electrical connection

The electrical tension must correspond to the tension noted on the label placed inside the cooker hood. Connect the electrical plug, where provided, to the an easily accessible outlet in conformity with local standards in force. Where an electrical plug is not provided (for direct connection to electrical network) or is not easily accessible, place a standards approved bipolar switch that provide full disconnection under overvoltage category III conditions, in accordance with the wiring rules.

Attention: substituting the supply cable must be carried out by the authorised technical assistance service.

Mounting

Before beginning installation:

  • Check that the product purchased is of a suitable size for the chosen installation area.
  • To facilitate installation, remove the fat filters and the other parts allowed and described here, dismantle and mount it.

To remove see also the relative paragraphs.

  • Remove the active carbon (*) filter/s if supplied (see also relative paragraph). This/these is/are to be mounted only if you want to use the hood in the filtering version.
  • Check (for transport reasons) that there is no other supplied material inside the hood (e.g. packets with screws () , guarantees () , etc.), eventually removing them and keeping them.
  • If possible, disconnect and move freestanding or slide-in range from cabinet opening to provide easier access to rear wall/ceiling. Otherwise put a thick, protective covering over countertop, cooktop or range to protect from damage and debris. Select a flat surface for assembling the unit. Cover that surface with a protective covering and place all canopy hood parts and hardware in it.
  • Disconnect the hood during electrical connection, by turning the home mains switch off.
  • In addition check whether near the installation area of the hood (in the area accessible also with the hood mounted) an electric socket is available and it is possible to connect a fumes discharge device to the outside (only suction version).
  • Carry out all the masonry work necessary (e.g. installation of an electric socket and/or a hole for the passage of the discharge tube).

Expansion wall plugs are provided to secure the hood to most types of walls/ceilings. However, a qualified technician must verify suitability of the materials in accordance with the type of wall/ceiling. The wall/ceiling must be strong enough to take the weight of the hood. Do not tile, grout or silicone this appliance to the wall. Surface mounting only.

An aesthetic flue can be purchased as an optional accessory. Check with the assistance centre whether the model in your possession envisages this possibility.

We advise installing the hood after having purchased the flue to check with certainty the most suitable installation.

Fig. 5-6

  • Trace a central line on the wall in order to ease mounting (1), position the hole template in a way that the middle line printed on top corresponds to the central line marked previously and the lower side of the mask corresponds to the lower part of the hood once mounted. (2).
Make 3 holes 08mm with a drill and fix the support bracket with two dowels and screws to the wall (3), insert the third dowel into the lower hole.

Only for chimney installation: Apply the support bracket _^ to the adherent ceiling, use the chimney support bracket as a hole scheme (if present, the small eyelet found on the support should coincide with the line previously traced on the wall) and trace with a pencil 2 holes, drill the holes (08mm) , insert 2 plugs.
Fasten the support bracket to the wall with 2 5x45mm screws (4).
- Open the vapour scheme and remove the grease filters (see relevant paragraph).
Hang the hood (5), regulate the position (6-7) and fasten it securely with one screw and washer(8).
- Carry out electrical connections (9), but leave the hood disconnected from the general electrical main panel.
Install the flange supplied on the exit hole of the hood (10a).

Note - only for installation without chimneys: In case you want to use the hood in filtering version, install the grille/deflector instead of the flange (10b).

  • Carry out the connection of one tube (11 - tube and ties for fastening not included, they need to be bought) for the fume discharge to the connection ring placed on top of the extractor motor unit.

The other end of the tube should be connected to a fume expulsion device towards the outside, in case the hood is used in extractor version.

Fix the upper cover with 3 screws.(12)

Note: this is supplied already mounted in some cases.

Only for chimney installation: In case you want to use the hood in filtering version, fasten the deflector F to the support bracket, and connect the other side of the tube to the connection ring placed on the deflector (13).

Apply the chimneys and fasten them on with two screws (14a) to the chimney support bracket _G^ (14b). and make the lower part of the chimney slide into the suited part on top of the chimney.

Mount the grease filters and close the vapour scheme.

Warning! If the hood has to be used in extractor version, remove, if supplied, the carbon filter and the fastening wand (placed on the back of the grease filters - see relative paragraph).

If the hood has to be used in filtering version, make sure that the carbon filter is already mounted on the back of the grease filter, or in case it's missing, buy it and install it.
