How to light the Bimar F627.EU barbecue?

Place a layer of charcoal in the firebox, add a firelighter and light it. Let the embers form for about 20 minutes before putting the grill on.

Can I use wood instead of charcoal?

It is better to use charcoal or briquettes. Wood may produce too many flames and dirty the grill.

How to clean the grill after use?

Use a wire brush to remove caked-on residues. You can also wash it with soapy water, but dry it well to prevent rust.

Is the barbecue stable on grass?

It is recommended to place the barbecue on a flat, non-flammable surface like a stone patio. On grass, make sure the legs are firmly pressed in.

What is the maximum cooking height?

The grill can be adjusted to several heights, the highest being about 15 cm from the embers for gentle cooking.

Can I use the barbecue in rainy weather?

It is not recommended to use the barbecue in the rain. Water can extinguish the embers and damage the appliance.

How to empty the ash catcher?

Wait until the ashes are completely cold, then remove the ash catcher under the firebox and empty it into a metal bin.

Does the barbecue rust easily?

Painted steel offers good resistance, but it is advisable to store the barbecue away from moisture and cover it after use.

GENERAL WARNINGS

This appliance is solely for domestic use and for cooking food according to the methods described herein. It can be used in closed or semi-closed environments (balcony, veranda, terrace, ...) only on condition that the appliance is not exposed to atmospheric conditions (sunlight, rain, humidity, wind, etc.). The appliance must not be used outdoors.

Any other use should be considered inappropriate and dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any damages caused by improper, incorrect or irresponsible use and/or by repairs done by an unqualified person.

Examples of appliances for domestic use are those used for typical domestic reasons, in domestic environments and that can be used by non-experts:

• in shops, offices and other similar places of work;
• in farming businesses or similar businesses;
• by guests in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
• in bed and breakfast type environments.

- During use, the grill becomes hot: touch only: the handle, buttons and switch. Avoid touching metal parts, and the double cooking grill.

- Do not move or lift the grill when it is on.

- Place only the cooking grills on top of the element, nothing else. Do not place the following on the element and/or the cooking grills: pans, baking trays, aluminium foil, etc because they prevent the transfer of heat and they can permanently damage the appliance.

- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced pyphysical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe waye and understand the hazard involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.

- Warning: when using electrical appliances, always adhere to basic safety precautions to prevent the risk of fire, electric shocks and physical injury.

• If the appliance is not being used, unplug it from the plug point.

- Do not pull on the power cable or the appliance itself to unplug the appliance from the plug point.

- Do not pull on the power cable to move the appliance.

• Always unplug the appliance from the plug point before assembly, disassembly or cleaning the appliance.

- If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its technical assistance centre or by someone who is similarly qualified, in order to prevent any risks.

- Do not touch the appliance with wet hands or feet.

• Do not leave the appliance exposed to atmospheric conditions (sun, rain, etc..).
• Add only water and no other liquid or solid.
• Do not add water above the maximum level indicated on the tray (1.5L).
• Do not use the appliance as a heater.
• In order to protect yourself from electric shocks, do not immerse the plug, the power cable or the appliance in water or any other liquid.
• Warning: when cooking, do not use petrol or any other combustible liquid, nor charcoal or wood.
• Warning: in order to avoid overheating, do not cover the appliance.
• Warning: the temperatures of the accessible surfaces may be elevated when the appliance is in use.

INSTALLATION

• After having removed the packaging, ensure that the appliance is in good order; if you have any doubts, do not use it and consult a qualified professional. The packaging (plastic bags, polystyrene, staples etc...) must not be left within reach of children or irresponsible people, as they pose health risks. They must be disposed of according to applicable regulations.
• Before plugging in the appliance, ensure that the details on the identification plate (power, etc...) correspond to those of your power supply. This appliance must be connected to a plug point that is correctly earthed (the manufacturer does not accept any responsibility if this is not adhered to). Ensure that other high power appliances are not connected to the same power point in order to avoid overloading and fire risks. The use of adaptors, multiple plug points or extensions is generally not advisable; if it is necessary to use them, they must conform with safety regulations and the total current (amps) must not be rated lower than the maximum current of the appliance. The manufacturer does not accept any responsibility if this safety norm is not adhered to.
• The appliance must not be placed directly beneath a plug point. The plug point must be easily accessible so as to easily remove the plug in case of an emergency.
• Before each use, ensure that the appliance is in good order, that the power cable is not damaged: if you have any doubts, consult a qualified professional.
• Ensure that the power cable is correctly positioned and does not come into contact with hot parts or sharp edges, or become wound around the appliance itself, pass underneath the grill, is not twisted and does not snag, in order to prevent the appliance from falling.

• Position the appliance:

• far from other heat sources (e.g. ovens, gas stoves etc.), flammable materials (tapestries, etc.), explosive materials (spray cans) and materials that can become deformed with heat; ensure that there is at least 50cm of free space around the appliance.

• on a horizontal surface that is stable and heat resistant, on a surface that is not delicate (e.g. lacquered surfaces, table cloths etc), where it will not be bumped and is sufficiently far from the edge of the furniture to prevent the appliance from falling.

• far from containers holding liquids (e.g. a sink). If the appliance should inadvertently become wet or submerged in a liquid, unplug the appliance immediately, allow it to cool down, dry it carefully and ensure that the electrical parts are not wet; if you have any doubts, consult a qualified professional.

• The user must not leave the appliance unattended when it is connect to the power supply.

• If the appliance is dusty, it must be cleaned before using it: refer to the "Cleaning and Maintenance" paragraph.
• This appliance is not to be used with an external timer or with a separate distance control unit. This is to prevent fire hazards should the appliance be covered or incorrectly positioned.

- If there is a fault or the appliance is not working correctly, switch it off and have it checked by a qualified professional. Repairs done by an unqualified person can be dangerous and cause the guarantee to become void.

USER INSTRUCTIONS

Warning:

- unplug the appliance from the power supply before assembly, getting it ready for use, disassembling and cleaning the appliance.

- the grill must only be used with an internal tray that has been correctly inserted and contains water. Place the internal aluminium tray (2) into the main housing (1) of the grill so that the rod of the element is inserted in the side slots. Pour 1.5l of water, insert the heating element (check first that the switch is off "0") and place the cooking grill (3).

Plug in the appliance, turn on the element using the switch, (4) (place it on position 0): the light indicates that the appliance is working.

Warning! If the heating element (5) is not correctly inserted in its proper slot, the element will not turn on: the "click" of the internal safety micro switch indicates that it has been inserted correctly/

First use

Run the grill "on empty" for 15 minutes to remove any "new smells" and any oil residue from the manufacturing process. When complete, unplug the appliance and wait for it to cool down before removing the accessories.

Using the appliance

Arrange the food on the grill and place it in its seat, in the most suitable position for cooking: position "1" is the farthest from the heating element, "2" is in the middle and "3" is the closest. Insert the plug in the socket and turn on the heating element using the switch.

The double grill (7) is placed over the cooking grid; open the double cooking grill and place the food between the two grills, close it and place it on top of the element. While the cooking takes place, the grill becomes hot. Use only the handles to turn or open it.

Plug the appliance in, turn on the element using the switch (place it on position I).

When using the appliance, always make sure that the internal tray is always filled with water: 1.5 litres of water allow the appliance to run for 2 hours. If the water needs to be replenished, add it after having turned off the element, being careful not to wet the electrical parts (switch, element etc): should this occur, remove unplug the appliance, dry it carefully and check that all the electrical components (switch, micro-switch etc) are not wet. Thereafter, you can turn the appliance back on. When in use, the appliance must be continuously checked in order to allow the user to intervene should events occur that could compromise safety.

When you are finished using it, turn the appliance off with the switch and then remove the plug from the plug point and allow the appliance to cool.

If the appliance is not in use for long periods of time, remove the plug from the plug point.

Assembly of the floor support (6) (mod.F628.EU)

Model F628.EU comes with a floor support.

The support is made up of:

a) 1 stand 44 cm long. b) 1 stand 40 cm long.

c) 2 pairs of articulated legs d) 4 rubber stoppers

Apply the rubber stoppers to the legs.

Press the two stands down (about 5cm), first in one and then in the other pair of legs. The legs must face the right way so that the stands can be lengthened. It will be necessary to press down with force.

Open the support and place the grill so that the stands line up within the edges of the main body. For warnings, installation and use of the appliance with the support, the same points outlined above apply.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

• Never use without water. The food could become dry and hard, the fat from the food could burn on the element and the tray could smoke and cause an unpleasant smell. (The smoke from the fat could cause panic and damage the appliance.)
  • Dry meat carefully before placing it on the cooking grill.
• Turn the cooking food often, turn the grill only with the handle, avoid using a fork or other pointy utensils.
• When cooking, you can flavour the meat with a sauce made up of oil, lemon juice and spices to your liking.
• Salt and pepper should be added when the meat is almost cooked.
• Clean the appliance carefully after use and place it in a dry place.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Warning: before cleaning the appliance, turn it off, unplug it from the power supply and wait until it cools down. The appliance and its accessories (body, tray, grills) must be cleaned carefully and often. This prevents the formation of smoke and bad smells when cooking.

- In order to clean the body and the tray, use a soft, wet sponge with regular dish washing detergent. Rinse with water. Abrasives can permanently scratch the surface. The aluminium tray can be washed in the dishwasher.

- The heating element must only be cleaned with a soft cloth that has been slightly dampened either with just water and/or detergent. It cannot be washed in the dishwasher, nor under a stream of water: if the electrical parts (including the power cable and plug) get wet, dry carefully and completely before using it again.

• To clean the cooking grills, use a brush with plastic bristles, warm water and regular dish washing detergent. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry carefully. The cooking grill can be washed in a dishwasher.

- When the appliance is not in use, place it in a dry place.

- If you decide to no longer use the appliance, it is recommended that it is made inoperative by cutting the power cable (first ensure that the appliance has been unplugged from the power supply), and ensure that any parts that could represent a risk to playing children, such as the element, be put away.

Correctly disposing of the product as per European Directive 2011/65/UE.

At the end of its lifespan, the product must not be disposed of as part of ordinary waste.

It can be handed in to specific collection points set up by the municipality, or to retailers who provide such a service.

Disposing of an appliance in this way prevents negative consequences to the environment and health caused by inappropriate disposal. It allows for certain materials to be recuperated so as to save energy and resources. To highlight the fact that appliance should be disposed of separately, the product bears an icon showing a trash can with a line struck through it. Incorrect disposal of the product by the user will lead to administrative sanctions according to current regulations.
