Frequently Asked Questions - SAS-SA2002 KONIG

How to install the Konig SAS-SA2002 smoke detector?
Attach the mounting base to the ceiling using the provided screws, insert the 9V battery into the detector, then twist the detector onto the base until it locks. Test the device by pressing the test button.
Why does my detector beep every minute?
This usually indicates a low battery. Replace the 9V battery with a new one and the beeping should stop. If the problem persists, check for dirt on the sensor.
How to test the smoke detector?
Press and hold the test button until the alarm sounds (a few seconds). Release the button, the alarm should stop. Perform this test monthly.
What to do if the detector triggers without reason (false alarm)?
Check for steam (shower, cooking), dust, or insects. Gently clean the sensor with a vacuum cleaner or dry cloth. Ensure the detector is installed away from steam sources.
What is the lifespan of the smoke detector?
The typical lifespan of a smoke detector is about 10 years. Replace the device after this period. The battery should be changed at least once a year or as soon as the low battery beeps start.
Can the smoke detector be installed in a kitchen?
It is not recommended to install a smoke detector directly in a kitchen due to frequent false alarms from cooking. Install it at least 3 meters away from the kitchen in an open area.
How to clean the smoke detector?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. For the interior, use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to remove dust. Never use water, solvents, or chemicals.
My detector does not stop after pressing the test button, what to do?
Press and hold the test button again for 5 seconds. If the alarm continues, remove the battery for 10 seconds then reinsert it. If the problem persists, the detector may be defective, contact customer service.
What type of battery does the Konig SAS-SA2002 use?
It uses a 9V alkaline battery. One battery is included in the package. Use only new batteries from a reputable brand.
Is the smoke detector compatible with wall surface mounting?
This detector is designed for ceiling installation. On a wall, it may be less effective because smoke takes longer to reach the sensor. If wall installation is unavoidable, place it at least 10 cm from the ceiling.

Introduction

This battery operated optical smoke alarm sends out a signal through radio frequency to activate other installed SAS-SA200/2002's in case smoke is detected. When installing multiple SAS-SA200/2002's, the smoke alarm that detects smoke will automatically activate all other SAS-SA200/2002's to give an early warning audible alarm. This provides extra time to leave the house. Equipped with a learn button and a test button for periodic testing.

A smoke alarm has a limited life and should always be replaced 10 years after the date of purchase. Write the purchase date on this manual for future reference. The smoke alarm complies with the EN14604 standard of the Construction Products Directive.

• We recommend that you read this manual before you install the smoke alarm
- Keep this manual in a safe place for future reference

Testing the smoke alarm

Like any other electronic device, smoke alarms are not foolproof. Smoke alarms contain electronic components that can fail or wear out at any time.

We recommended that you test the smoke alarm every week to make sure it is working properly.

Push and hold the test button until the alarm sounds for a few seconds. The (red) alarm indicator (1) and (green) learn indicator (4) will flash for a moment. If the alarm does not sound, check if the battery indicator flashes once every 45 seconds. If this is not the case and testing fails, please replace the batteries immediately.

We recommended that you make an emergency escape plan, and practice this with the members of your household, in case of an emergency.

The requirements for the installation of the smoke alarm may differ slightly by region. Please contact your local authorities for any additional requirements.
