1 About the unit
The electric toothbrush with approx. 36,000 vibrations was developed for daily tooth cleaning.
The bristles are rounded and have 2 lengths. They help to keep the tooth enamel and gums healthy by enabling you to reach difficult to access areas for a deep clean.
You achieve a long-lasting fresh feeling and clean teeth.
Follow the instructions in this manual. They ensure correct handling of the unit and help you attain optimum treatment results.
The unit is only intended for the purposes described in these operating instructions. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for any damages that are caused through improper or careless use.
2 Signs and symbols
The following symbols appear in these operating instructions.

The unit is double-insulated.
3 Intended use
Only use the unit for cleaning teeth and for massaging gums. The unit is only intended for domestic/private use, not for commercial use. No liability can be assumed for damage caused by unintended use or incorrect handling.
Do not use the unit if one or more of the following warnings apply to you.

Warning
- Use the unit only:
- on persons
- in your mouth
- for the purpose for which it was designed and in the manner specified in these operating instructions.
- Do not use the unit on animals.
- Any improper use can be dangerous.
- The unit bears the CE mark and complies with EU Directives EMC2004/108/EC and LVD2006/95/EC.
4 Safety advice for your health

Warning
To prevent damage to your health, the use of the unit is strongly discouraged in the following cases:
- If you are suffering from a disease/infection in the area of the teeth/gums requiring medical treatment. Consult your dentist before using.
- If the electric toothbrush or its accessories are damaged.
The charging unit is supplied with electricity as long as it is connected to the mains.
Danger to life by electrocution! To prevent damage to your health, observe the following point(s):

Warning
- The unit must only be connected to an AC network and operated with the voltage specified on the rating plate.
- The unit must only be operated from a socket fitted with a residual-current-operated protective device.
- The charging unit must be kept at a safe distance from bath tubs, showers, swimming pools, basins and containers filled with water. According to VDE regulation 0100, the safe distance is at least 60 cm. We recommend a distance of at least 1 meter.
- If the charging unit falls into water, do not touch the unit under any circumstances; instead, pull out the plug immediately and have the unit checked by a professional before using again. This also applies if the plug and/or cord or the charging unit are damaged.
- Use the unit only if it is undamaged.

Under no circumstances should you ever repair the unit yourself. Danger to life by electrocution.
- Regularly check the charging unit including the cord and the handle unit for signs of damage. A damaged unit must not be used.
- Never open the unit yourself. In this case, contact Customer Service or an authorised dealer.
- The unit and the cord must not come into contact with hot surfaces or objects with sharp edges.
- Do not wind the cord around the unit.
- Do not pull, twist or bend the cord.
- Ensure that the cord is not routed or pulled over sharp or pointy objects.
- Never touch the charging unit with moist or wet hands while it is plugged in.
- Never touch the charging unit if it is plugged in and moist or wet or if it is on a wet surface.

Never immerse the unit in water. Protect it from any moisture.

Pull out the plug if there is a malfunction in operation, when cleaning it and when the charging unit is not in use.
- Do not use the unit in the open air.
To prevent damage to your health, observe the following point(s):

Warning
- Persons (including children) who are unable to use this unit safely due to their limited physical, sensory or mental abilities or a lack of experience and/or lack of knowledge, should not use this unit unless they are supervised or given instructions on how to use it by a responsible person.
- If you have received surgical treatment on your teeth and/or gums within the last 2 months, ask your dentist before using this toothbrush.

Change the brush head if the bristles are bent. Also change the brush head for hygiene reasons if the unit was dropped.

Ask your doctor before using this unit if you have a pacemaker or other electronic implants.
- Children under the age of 3 must not use the electric toothbrush.
- Children must be supervised when using the unit.
- Make sure that children do not play with the unit.
- Before use make sure that there is no visible damage to the unit and its accessories. If in doubt, do not use the unit and contact your dealer or the customer service address provided.
- The handle unit of the toothbrush must only be used with the SZA 70 charging unit provided.
- Do not use any additional parts that are not recommended by the manufacturer or offered as an accessory.
- The brush heads should not be shared with other persons for hygiene reasons.
- If you give the unit to a third party, you must also give them these operating instructions.
Before starting
Unpacking
Remove all packaging and retain it for storage later.
If you notice transport damage when unpacking it, contact your dealer.

Warning
- Keep children away from packaging materials (risk of suffocation).
- Switch the unit off immediately if it becomes faulty or malfunctions.

Caution
- The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper or incorrect use.
- Protect the unit from dust, dirt and moisture.
- Never open or attempt to repair the unit yourself, otherwise proper function is no longer guaranteed. Opening the unit invalidates the guarantee.
- If you need to have the unit repaired, contact Customer Service or an authorised dealer.

6 Operation
Preparing the unit for its first use
Before using it for the first time, the rechargeable battery built into the handle unit must be fully charged.
The first charge will take at least 16 hours.
The handle unit then has an operating time of about 50 minutes.
- Connect the charging unit (2) to the voltage supply specified on the rating plate.
- Place the handle unit (7) on the charging unit (2).
The charge indicator (8) lights up in blue and shows that it is charging.

Note
- The handle unit (4) remains fully charged for use if you leave it in the charging unit for daily use. Built-in overcharge protection prevents any damage being caused to the rechargeable battery.
- Maximum capacity of the rechargeable battery can be achieved by discharging the rechargeable battery at least once every 6 months. Disconnect the charging unit (2) from the mains and discharge the rechargeable battery through normal use. Afterwards, fully charge the rechargeable battery again.

Note
- The maximum capacity of the rechargeable battery is only reached after several charging processes and depends on several factors (condition of the rechargeable battery, ambient temperature, method and frequency of the charging process, etc.).
Cleaning your teeth

Warning
- When used for the first time, there may be slight bleeding of the gums. If bleeding of the gums persists longer than 2 weeks, consult your dentist.

Note
- Dentists recommend that you brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes.
- It is recommended that you change the brush head every 2-3 months.
- The unit switches off automatically after 2 minutes for safety reasons and to protect your teeth and gums.
- Clean the brush head(s) (1) with warm water before using for the first time.

Attach the brush head (1) to the handle unit (7).
-
Moisten the toothbrush and squeeze toothpaste on it.
- To avoid spray, place the toothbrush at an angle to the surface of your teeth. Only then should you switch on the handle unit (7) by pressing the ON/OFF switch (9).
The handle unit (7) automatically switches to the highest speed setting (high speed).
- Select the desired speed by pressing the ON/OFF switch (9) repeatedly:
- 1 x: Medium
- 2 x: Soft
- 3 x: Massage
- 4 x: Off
- Guide the toothbrush slowly from tooth to tooth.
- Begin with the outer surfaces.
- Then clean the back surfaces of the molars.
- Then clean the inside surfaces and finally the chewing surfaces.

Warning
- To protect your gums and teeth, avoid pressing too hard when brushing.
- Press the ON/OFF switch (9) to switch off the handle unit (7).
- Remove the brush from your mouth.
- Rinse your mouth thoroughly with water.

Note
- Only use the SZA 70 accessories delivered with the unit.
7 Cleaning and care of the unit
Cleaning the brush head and handle unit
- Clean the brush head (1) and handle unit (7) after each use.

Caution
- Ensure that no water penetrates the unit.
- Do not clean the unit in the dishwasher.
- Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents or hard brushes.
- Remove the brush head (1) from the handle unit (7) and rinse the brush head (1) thoroughly under running water.
- The handle unit (7) can be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with warm water.
- Dry the parts completely.
Cleaning the charging unit and brush container

Caution
- The charging unit (2) including cord (6) and plug (5) must not be immersed in water and must be protected from contact with any kind of moisture.
- Disconnect the charging unit (2) from the mains supply.

- Clean the charging unit (2) including housing (4) and cover (3) with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the charging unit (2) to dry completely before its next use.

9 Disposal
In the interest of protecting the environment, the unit must not be thrown out with the household waste at the end of its service life.
Dispose of the unit at a suitable collection or recycling point.

Follow the local regulations for disposal of materials. Dispose of the unit in accordance with EC Directive
2002/96/EC – WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
For any queries please contact the municipal authority responsible for disposal.
Standard and rechargeable batteries should not be disposed of in household waste. As a consumer, you are
legally obliged to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries for proper disposal. You can hand in your used batteries at public collection points in your district or sales outlets where batteries and rechargeable batteries of this type are sold.

The codes below are printed on batteries containing harmful substances:

Pb = battery contains lead
Cd = battery contains cadmium
Hg = battery contains mercury
This unit contains a rechargeable battery that is built into the handle unit (7). The rechargeable battery contains nickel metal hydride.

Before disposing of the unit, you must first remove the rechargeable battery and dispose of it separately. Ensure that the rechargeable battery is fully discharged.
First, remove the brush head. Then loosen the screw on the bottom of the handle unit.
Lever the bottom out of the handle unit using a screwdriver.
Turn the unit over and set the vibrating axis on a hard surface.
Lever the two latches that are now visible towards the centre of the housing and press the housing downwards. You can now remove the rechargeable batteries. Ensure that the soldered cords are disconnected individually with pliers.
