How do I descale the kettle?

Mix equal parts white vinegar and water, fill to half, boil, let sit for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, use citric acid descaler.

Can I boil milk or other liquids?

No, this kettle is designed for water only. Boiling milk can cause overheating residue and damage the heating element.

How do I clean the filter?

Remove the filter from the spout and rinse under running water. Use a soft brush if needed. Replace when worn.

What does the auto shut-off do?

The kettle automatically turns off when water reaches boiling point. This prevents overboiling and saves energy.

Why does the kettle turn off before boiling?

This may be due to scale buildup. Descale the kettle. Also ensure the lid is fully closed and the base is correctly connected.

Is the kettle safe to leave unattended?

The kettle has boil-dry and auto shut-off protection, but it is recommended not to leave it unattended while in use.

How much water should I put in?

Fill between the minimum and maximum marks on the water level window. Minimum is usually 0.5 L, maximum 1.7 L.

Can I use the kettle on a metal surface?

Place the base on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Avoid metal surfaces that may scratch the base.

How do I replace the filter?

Contact Zelmer or an authorized dealer for a replacement filter. Push the old filter out from inside the spout and snap the new one in.

What does the indicator light mean?

The blue light turns on when the kettle is heating. It turns off when the water boils and the kettle shuts off automatically.

Safety precautions and instructions on the proper use of the electric kettle

Read this entire manual carefully before using the appliance.

Make sure that you understand the below safety precautions.

Danger! / Warning! Risk of injury

Special attention should be kept when using the kettle in the presence of children.
Do not operate the kettle if the power cord is damaged or if there is any visible damage to the kettle body.
Do not plug the power cord with wet hands.
the non-detachable power cord is damaged, it should be replaced by the manufacturer, an authorised service point or a qualified person in order to avoid any hazards.
Only qualified staff may repair the appliance. Improper repair may cause a serious threat to the user. In case of any defects, contact an authorised ZELMER service point.
Do not touch the metal body of the kettle when in use; move the kettle only using the handle.
Do not touch any hot surfaces of the kettle. Surfaces remain hot even after the device is switched off.
Do not fill the kettle beyond the maximum fill indicator "max" – water might spatter out of the kettle.
Be careful not to wet the plug of the power cord.
- Team coming out of the kettle when the water is boiling may cause scalding.
Allow the kettle to cool completely before cleaning.
Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.
Always remove the plug from the mains before cleaning the kettle.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

Warning! Risk of property damage

Always plug the appliance to the mains (AC only) with voltage corresponding to that indicated on the rating plate.
Always place the kettle on a stable, smooth, flat surface; the power cord must not hang loosely off the edge of a table (or any other work surface) or touch a heated surface.
Do not remove the plug from the mains by pulling by the cord.
This appliance is intended for indoor use only.
The kettle can only be operated with the original power base (each base is type-specific).
Use the kettle for boiling water only.
Do not open the lid right after the water has boiled – steam might condense and appear on the exterior of the kettle.
Do not place the kettle on or near hot objects.
Do not immerse the kettle or the power base in water when filling or washing the electric kettle.

The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

The appliance is intended for domestic use. In case it is used for food business purposes, the warranty conditions change.

Do not use the kettle without the filter.

Preparing the kettle for operation

ore first use, wash the kettle inside (for washing instructions see the "Cleaning and maintenance" section), fill it with water up to the "max" level, boil water four times (each time use fresh water) and wash the kettle inside again.

Operating the kettle (Fig. B)

① Press the lid button (5) – the kettle lid will open.
② Place the filter (8) in the kettle (if it is not in place).
③ Fill the kettle with the desired amount of water (the level is visible on the indicator (3)).

ot boil the water if it is below the minimum level or beyond the maximum level on the indicator (3).

④ Close the lid.
⑤ Place the kettle on the base (4).
⑥ Plug the kettle to a socket provided with an earth pin.
⑦ Turn the kettle on by pressing the switch (6) – the power indicator light will come on.
⑧ After the water is boiled, the kettle will switch off automatically, the lever switch will return to its starting position and the power indicator will go off.

If you plan to use the kettle again soon, it is not necessary to remove the plug from the mains.

Make sure that the maximum kettle capacity is not exceeded when the kettle is filled with water.

In the event that an empty kettle is switched on, it will be switched off automatically by a thermal device.

To switch on the kettle after it has cooled down (about 15 min), remove it from the base, fill with water, replace on the base and switch on by pressing the switch (6). The cooling down of the kettle can be accelerated by pouring cold water into the kettle.

Cleaning and maintenance

① Unplug the kettle from the mains.
② Remove the filter (8) and rinse it under running water.
③ Clean the outside surfaces with a soft damp cloth and washing-up liquid.
In order to remove the build-up of hard water film from the outside and inside walls of the kettle, wipe them with a damp cloth and vinegar.
④ Rinse the kettle with fresh water.

Various black-coloured, rusty, milky, etc. deposits may form inside the kettle and float on the water. This is caused by minerals occurring naturally in water (calcium, magnesium, iron, etc.). Such discoloration is not caused by faulty operation of the appliance and does not affect its use. In case of substantial accumulation of mineral deposits, proceed as described in the "Descaling" section.

Descaling

In the event that scale builds up on the bottom of the kettle, it needs to be removed. For this purpose use 6-10% vinegar or citric acid.

• Open the lid by pressing the lid release button (5).
• Add 0.5 l of vinegar or 40 g of citric acid and fill the kettle with water up to the maximum level. Switch on the kettle.
• Bring the mixture to boil and allow the kettle to stand for 30 minutes.
  ● Empty the kettle and rinse it with fresh water.
• Remove the filter (8) and rinse it under running water. Replace the filter.
• Fill the kettle with fresh water, boil the water and empty the kettle.

sediment is still visible in the kettle, remove it with a sponge and rinse the kettle again. If unsuccessful, repeat the descaling process.

kettle should be descaled periodically to avoid its possible damage.

Ecology – environment protection

Each user can help protect the environment. It is neither difficult nor expensive. In order to do it, remember to discard the cardboard packing into a recycling paper container and the polyethylene (PE) bags into a container for plastics.

Dispose of the worn out appliance by handing it over to a local disposal centre, as the dangerous elements of this appliance can be hazardous to the environment.

Do not dispose the appliance together with other domestic wastes!!!
