SÄKERHETSANVISNINGAR

Read the operating instructions carefully before use!

Save them for future reference.

The term "power tool" in all the warnings below refers to your mains-powered (corded) or battery-powered (cordless) power tool.

Workplace

  • Do not use the power tool in explosive environments, such as in the vicinity of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools produce sparks that can ignite dust and fumes.
  • Keep children and onlookers at a safe distance when using the power tool. You can easily lose control of the power tool if you are distracted.

Electrical safety

  • Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
  • Do not expose the power tool to rain or moisture. There is a greater risk of electric shock if water gets into a power tool.

Personal safety

  • Stay alert. Pay attention to what you are doing, and use your common sense when working with the power tool. Never use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention when using a power tool can result in serious personal injury.
  • Use personal safety equipment. Use protective glasses, non-slip safety shoes, safety helmet and ear protection, depending on the power tool type and usage.
  • Avoid accidental starting. Make sure the power switch is in the OFF position before inserting the battery or lifting/carrying the tool. Carrying a power tool with your finger on the switch, or connecting a tool to the mains supply when the switch is in the ON position, increases the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Always check that Allen keys/spanners etc. have been removed from the power tool before it is started. Spanners or the like that are left in a rotating part of the power tool can cause personal injury.

  • Do not overreach. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance. This will ensure you have better control over the tool in unexpected situations.

  • Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose-fitting clothing, jewellery and long hair can get caught in moving parts.

Use and care

  • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for the planned work. The power tool does the job better and safer when used at the rate for which it was designed.
  • Do not use the power tool if it cannot be started and stopped with the power switch. Power tools that cannot be controlled with the power switch are dangerous and must be repaired.
  • Remove the battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories or putting the power tool away. These safety precautions reduce the risk of accidentally starting the power tool.
  • Store power tools out of the reach of children when not in use. Never allow children, or anyone who is unfamiliar with the power tool and these instructions, to use the tool. Power tools are dangerous if used by inexperienced persons.
  • Keep the power tool properly maintained. Check that moving parts are properly adjusted and do not jam, and that no parts are incorrectly fitted or damaged. Check for other factors that could affect functionality. If the power tool is damaged, it must be repaired before being used again. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
  • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to control.
  • Use the power tool, accessories, etc. in accordance with these instructions. Take into account prevailing working conditions and the work to be performed. It can be dangerous to use power tools for purposes other than those they are intended to be used for.

Use and care

  • Only charge the battery with the intended charger. A charger intended for one type of battery can result in a fire risk if used with another type of battery.
  • Only use power tools with the specified batteries. The use of other batteries can cause personal injury or the risk of fire.

  • When the battery is not being used it must be kept away from other metal objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws and other metal objects that can short circuit the terminals. Short circuiting can damage the battery or cause personal injury, burns and/or fire.

  • Acid can leak from the battery if the battery has been damaged. Avoid contact with battery acid. If you get battery acid on your skin, rinse immediately in plenty of fresh water. Seek medical attention if you get battery acid in your eyes. Battery acid can cause skin irritation and/or burns.

Service

The power tool must only be serviced by qualified service personnel using identical spare parts. This will ensure that the power tool remains safe to use.

Special safety instructions

  • Keep your hands and the rest of your body away from the power tool's moving parts. Never attempt to remove cuttings or hold branches and the like that are to be cut when the blade assembly is in motion. First turn off the power tool and then remove cuttings that have jammed in the blade assembly. A moment of inattention when using a power tool can result in serious personal injury.
  • Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle and when the blade assembly has stopped. Always fit the safety cover over the blade assembly when the tool is not in use. Handle the power tool with care to avoid the risk of cut injuries.
  • Hold the power tool by the insulated grips when working in areas where the tool may come into contact with concealed electrical cables or its own power cord. Contact with a live cable will cause the metal parts on the power tool to also become live – risk of electric shock.

Use

  • Do not overreach. Always maintain a firm footing and good balance.
  • If possible, avoid working on wet and slippery surfaces and under all circumstances on uneven or steep terrain that does not provide sufficient stability.
  • Never run with the power tool. Pay attention to the surface and watch out for obstacles.
  • Make an assessment of the terrain to be worked on and take all necessary precautions for your own safety, especially on slopes or on uneven, slippery or unstable ground.
  • There may be local regulations for the minimum age of persons allowed to use the machine. The power tool may only be used by one person at a time.

- Do not use the power tool if, while working, you cannot hold it with both hands or cannot stand firmly on both feet. Never allow children, or anyone who is unfamiliar with the power tool and these instructions, to use the tool.

- Do not use the power tool when other persons, especially children, or pets, are in the vicinity.

- Never use the power tool if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.

- Do not use the power tool unless all the safety devices are correctly fitted and working.

- Always follow all safety instructions and use the cutting technique that is most appropriate.

- Only use the power tool for its intended purpose. Any other usage may be dangerous and result in major damage to the tool.

USE

Intended use

The hedge trimmer is designed for cutting and trimming hedges and bushes. The hedge trimmer must only be used as it is intended to be used and in accordance with these instructions. All other use not described in these instructions is to be considered as incorrect usage.

Before the motor starts

  1. Remove the blade assembly guard.
  2. Ensure that the blade assembly is not in contact with anything.
  3. Insert the battery in the battery compartment.

Starting

  1. Hold the hedge trimmer firmly with both hands.
  2. Press on the front handle and then on the power switch.

NOTE: Both switches must be activated in order for the hedge trimmer to start and remain running. The hedge trimmer is switched off if one of the two switches is released.

USE

WARNING:

  • Hold the hedge trimmer firmly with both hands.
  • The battery has a protective system that prevents it from discharging completely. The hedge trimmer is automatically stopped when the battery needs to be charged.
  • Release the switch immediately if the blade assembly is blocked during work or if the hedge trimmer gets caught among the branches.

Working technique

Start by cutting the hedge's vertical sides before cutting the top.

Vertical trimming

Work with sweeping movements from the bottom up, and hold the blade assembly as far from the body as possible.

Horizontal trimming

The best results are achieved if the blade assembly is tilted slightly (5-10 degrees) in the cutting direction. Cut with a curved action, slowly and continuously, especially in very thick hedges.

Blade assembly lubrication

If the hedge trimmer overheats during operation, the blades' inner surfaces must be lubricated.

NOTE: This operation must be performed only when the blade assembly has stopped and the motor switched off.

After trimming is finished

Clean and lubricate the blade assembly after use. It will then cut more efficiently and have a longer life.

  1. Clean the blade assembly with a soft cloth and brush to remove dirt and deposits.
  2. Lubricate the blade assembly with the intended oil.

MAINTENANCE

  • Follow these maintenance instructions for best functionality and useful life.
  • Remove the battery from the battery compartment after each work shift and check that it is not damaged.
  • Clean the hedge trimmer thoroughly after every use so that all dust and dirt is removed.
  • Regularly check that all screw joints on the hedge trimmer are properly tightened. Tighten if necessary.
  • Do not use the hedge trimmer if parts are worn or damaged. Damaged parts must be replaced, not repaired.
  • The accompanying blade guard must always be fitted during transport and storage.

  • Keep the ventilation openings on the hedge trimmer clean to prevent overheating.

  • Maintenance and repairs not described in these instructions should be carried out by an authorised service centre.

Maintenance and sharpening the blades

  • Regularly check that the blades are not bent or damaged and that the fixed comb on the blade assembly is undamaged.
  • The spacing between the blades does not need be set, as this is carried out by the manufacturer.
  • If the blades are used correctly according to the instructions, they require no maintenance or sharpening.
  • The blades need only be sharpened if the cutting result is impaired and if the branches tend to jam in the blade assembly.
  • Any work on the blade assembly may only be carried out by an authorised service centre.

Before storage

  • Clean the hedge trimmer thoroughly so that all dust and dirt is removed.
  • Lubricate the blades.
    • Repair or replace any defective parts.
  • Store the hedge trimmer in a dry, protected place out of the reach of children.
