How to insert the battery and memory card?

Open the battery compartment at the bottom of the camera. Insert the battery with the contacts facing down. For the memory card, push it into the slot until it clicks. The Samsung logo should face upward. To remove the card, gently press on it until it ejects.

How to charge the battery?

Use the supplied AC adapter and USB cable. Connect the cable to the camera and plug it into a power outlet. The indicator light turns on during charging. Make sure to fully charge the battery before first use.

How to turn on the camera?

Press the POWER button on the top of the camera. The screen turns on and displays the setup screen. If it's the first use, select the language and set the date and time.

How to take a photo?

Press the MENU button and select the (shooting) mode. Frame your subject on the screen. Press the shutter button halfway to focus (a green frame appears). Then press fully to take the photo.

How to record a video?

Press MENU and choose the (video) mode. Frame your subject. Press the shutter button to start recording. To pause or resume, press OK. Press the shutter button again to stop.

How to transfer photos to a Windows PC?

Insert the supplied installation CD into your computer and follow the instructions. Connect the camera to the PC with the USB cable. Turn on the camera. On the PC, open 'My Computer', then 'Removable Disk' > 'DCIM' > '100PHOTO'. Copy or move the files to your computer. To safely disconnect, use the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in the taskbar.

What basic settings to perform at first startup?

On first startup, the setup screen appears. Use the navigation buttons to select the language (Language), then set the date and time (Date & Time). Confirm each step with OK.

How to use the flash correctly?

The flash fires automatically in low-light conditions. To manually enable or disable it, press the Fn button in shooting mode and select the desired flash mode. Warning: do not use the flash within one meter of eyes to avoid injury.

What to do if the memory card is not recognized?

Check that the card is properly inserted (Samsung logo facing up). Ensure it is compatible: SD (up to 2 GB), SDHC (up to 8 GB), or MMC Plus (up to 1 GB). If dirty, clean it with a soft cloth. Format the card in the camera if necessary via the setup menu.

How to maintain and clean the camera?

Avoid contact with liquids, dust, or extreme temperatures (0-40°C). To clean the memory card, use a soft cloth. Do not insert foreign objects into the compartments. Store the camera in a dry, ventilated place. If problems arise, contact Samsung customer service.

Warnings

Do not use your camera near flammable or explosive gases and liquids

Do not use your camera near fuels, combustibles, or flammable chemicals. Do not store or carry flammable liquids, gases, or explosive materials in the same compartment as the camera or its accessories.

Keep your camera away from small children and pets

Keep your camera and all accessories out of the reach of small children and animals. Small parts may cause choking or serious injury if swallowed. Moving parts and accessories may present physical dangers as well.

Prevent damage to subjects' eyesight

Do not use the flash in close proximity (closer than 1m/3 ft) to people or animals. Using the flash too close to your subject's eyes can cause temporary or permanent damage.

Handle and dispose of batteries and chargers with care

• Use only Samsung-approved batteries and chargers. Incompatible batteries and chargers can cause serious injuries or damage to your camera.
• Never place batteries or cameras on or in heating devices, such as microwave ovens, stoves, or radiators. Batteries may explode when overheated.

Cautions

Handle and store your camera carefully and sensibly

• Do not allow your camera to get wet—liquids can cause serious damage. Do not handle your camera with wet hands. Water damage to your camera can void your manufacturer's warranty.

• Avoid using or storing your camera in dusty, dirty, humid, or poorly-ventilated areas to prevent damage to moving parts and internal components.

• Exercise caution when connecting cables or adapters and installing batteries and memory cards. Forcing the connectors, improperly connecting cables, or improperly installing batteries and memory cards can damage ports, connectors, and accessories.

• Do not insert foreign objects into any of your camera's compartments, slots, or access points. This type of damage may not be covered by your warranty.

Protect batteries, chargers, and memory cards from damage

• Avoid exposing batteries or memory cards to very cold or very hot temperatures (below 0^ C/ 32^ F or above 40^ C/ 104^ F). Extreme temperatures can reduce the charging capacity of your batteries and can cause memory cards to malfunction.
• Prevent memory cards from making contact with liquids, dirt, or foreign substances. If dirty, wipe the memory card clean with a soft cloth before inserting in your camera.

Push gently until the card disengages from the camera and then pull it out of the slot.

Charging the battery

Before using the camera for the first time, you must charge the battery.

Selecting options

1 In Shooting mode, press [MENU].
2 Use the navigation buttons to scroll to an option or menu.

• To move left or right, press [⚡] or [💡].
• To move up or down, press [DISP] or [✿].

3 Press [OK] to confirm the highlighted option or menu.

- Press [MENU] again to go back to the previous menu.

Capturing photos or videos

Taking a photo

1 Press [MENU] to select (☐).

2 Align your subject in the frame.

3 Press [Shutter] halfway down to focus automatically.

- A green frame means the subject in focus.

Recording a video

1 Press [MENU] to select (☐).

2 Align your subject in the frame.

3 Press [Shutter].

- Press [OK] to pause or resume.

4 Press [Shutter] again to stop the recording.
